Jungle Madness and the Cupid Cabbie
Have you read the article about the matchmaking cabbie who calls himself the Cupid Cabbie?
I think the whole idea is adorable…but I also think it’s been “done.” By me! And Vicki Lewis Thompson and Kate Hoffman!
So in honor of this news story, I’m offering the following:

I found some of my promotional items from when I wrote the novella, “Chasing Charlie” in the A FARE TO REMEMBER collection. There are two Taxi Cab mugs, a Taxi Driver’s Cookbook and of course, a copy of the book! I’ve also thrown a few more books into the box, including a copy of THE DOMINO EFFECT because my heroine is involved in a cab accident (that might have been an attempted assassination) and a copy of Julie Kistler’s Blaze, SCANDAL, because I was sent five copies by accident and I’m sharing the love.
You know the drill…post a comment, US residents, blah, blah, blah… And don’t forget to come back Sunday to find out if you won! We don’t contact winners personally…you have to come back to the blog. (We’re evil that way.) ![]()
Oh! And as promised…here is an update of my kitchen renovation.
Before:
Day 10. Amazing progress, yes? They’re not done…but we’re VERY close.
(The ketchup bottle in the foreground just makes the picture, don’t you think?)

Wow, I love the updated picture Julie - it looks fabulous! Warm, inviting, spacious. The ketchup bottle makes it all “homey”.
Have a great weekend!

What a difference in your kitchen! Where did you put the appliances? Off to the right where we can’t see them? It looks like you’ll have lots of cupboard and counter space.
Cute prize this week. A DVD of the show “Taxi” would have fit right in with this theme.
Comment by Susan P. — February 15, 2008 @ 11:31 am
Julie the kitchen looks fabulous!! You’re so funny about the ketchup bottle, I would not have noticed it. I was too busy looking at the cabinets and flooring.
Love this weeks prize, but then coffee mugs are my thing. I can’t seem to have enough of them.

Comment by Fedora — February 15, 2008 @ 11:35 am
the ketchup bottle reminds me of when you look at houses, how they look so sterile (I always thought, c’mon there have GOT to be people here). Cool prize since I was recently cleaning and realized I don’t have any signed books from Julie (I have one from the other PM).
Great weekend everyone…we are all pretty sick here.

Good Morning Plotmonkeys and Jungle Bunnies,
Julie, the kitchen looks awesome! Wow, what a makeover. It is warm, spacious and just invites you in. You should be on the House and Garden channel. :-)) It would not only be fun but just think of the publicity for your books. :-))
What a great prize! I love it.

Comment by Karen H in NC — February 15, 2008 @ 1:29 pm
The new kitchen looks so spacious! My MIL had her kitchen/dining room done last year and it went from two tiny rooms to a bigger more comfortable single space. From looking at your two pictures, the new space looks like you can have the entire party in the kitchen and still have room for the dog.
Have a kitchen warming party. Tell your friends to bring a new recipe for the new kitchen.
The promo pack is adorable!

I love kitchen renovations. If your home is like ours, that is where we spend the most time together! Yours looks a lot bigger than ours. Please enter me in your wonderful drawing. The “Taxi” items remind me of the old television show! I loved it……Thanks,Cindi
Comment by Cindi Hoppes — February 15, 2008 @ 2:46 pm
Hi, everyone! thanks for all the compliments on the kitchen. It’s still not done, but the progress they made in just ten days is mind boggling.
The electrician has to come back and fix a few things, the plumber and floor guy, too…but it’s all finishing stuff. Same on the cabinets, that will have crown moulding, but it can’t go in until after the tile and paint. I’m hoping that will all be wrapped up by next week. When it is, I’ll post more pics!
The only appliances you can see now are the range and the microwave. The dishwasher and fridge are now on the other side. I’ll take pictures from that direction once it’s all through. And as you can see, I only have 2 of my 3 pendant lights…and one doesn’t work.
Little stuff.

Comment by catslady — February 15, 2008 @ 3:19 pm
I actually had a cab driver try to fix me up two years ago. He had picked me up and had another guy already in the cab, which I don’t think is legal, but I needed to get to Greenwich, so I didn’t care. I had a boyfriend at the time and the guy was meeting a girl he admitted he wasn’t crazy about. So we drop the guy off at his class at the Empire State building and my driver proceeds to almost hot somebody who then attacks the cab. My driver ended up getting beaten up, while I explained things to an unsympathetic 911 operator. In the end an undercover cop broke up the fight and I was out a huge cab fare (the meeting was left running during the fight) and I still had to walk and try to find where I was supposed to be dropped off in the 1st place. And people say the subways aren’t safe!
