Just Call Me Brick Red

Julie Icon

If you’ve been following the little indicator on the sidebar (scroll down!) you’ll see that I am about 75% done with my current book, THE PHANTOM’S TOUCH. This is good, yes?

Well, yes…and no. See, the book is due in two weeks. I have a lot left to write. Today, I’m enjoying that 75%, because I’m about certain I’m going to cut two chapters in a few minutes. Cut. Slashed. Gone. Dropped to 70%. Or worse.

And yet, that February 1st deadline isn’t going anywhere.

This is the hard part of writing, I think…when you realize that something you’ve written is utter crap and has to go. Okay, it’s not crap. I mean, I’m sure it’s written well and all that. But I just completed a massive revision (self-imposed) on the first 3/4 of the book and those last two scenes just don’t fit anymore. Thanks to Leslie, my heroine is an emotional wreck in a scene I just added that wasn’t there before. That changes everything that will now come afterward…so those two scenes? No longer fit.

So, since I need to be writing today and not blogging, I’m posting a quiz. Have fun! I’ll check back in later with an update on my progress.

You Are a Red Crayon

Your world is colored with bright, vivid, wild colors.
You have a deep, complex personality - and you are always expressing something about yourself.
Bold and dominant, you are a natural leader. You have an energy that is intense… and sometimes overwhelming.
Your reaction to everything tends to be strong. You are the master of love-hate relationships.

Your color wheel opposite is green. Green people are way too mellow to understand what drives your energy.

What Color Crayon Are You?

I’m red…like my hair! The only thing that I take exception to is that my opposite is green. Green is my favorite color. My house is green in nearly every room…when it’s not blue, a color I love, but that I can’t wear. I wear a lot of green. It brings out the green in my hazel eyes and usually goes great with my red hair. But then, I’m a Gemini, which means I have a split personality. That works for me.

What color crayon are you?

I love crayons. Does anyone else still love crayons? I get all excited and buy those 96 packs for my daughter all the time…and I think I use them more than she does. (She prefers markers…but they have no subtelty. I’m a crayon girl!)

Yellow huh? I’m partial to red, or purple. Interesting. Good luck with the slashing and dicing, Julie. I know it’s stressful, but it will be a better book, right? Hang in there kid.

  2. OH yeah, I am able to get people to do things my way LOL. Maybe I am a yellow crayon. I love them too Julie. So pretty.

  3. Yeah, Julie, 75 % that’s a lot but I’m sorry for you having to go back two chapters. But 70 % percent isn’t bad either. So keep writing, girl. I’m sure you’ll catch up fast. Deadline is already coming (way too fast for you, too slow for people like me who want to devour the book ) Good luck here. You’ll make it.

    YOU ARE A BLUE CRAYON
Your world is colored in calm, understated, deep colors.
You are a loyal person, and the truest friend anyone could hope to find.
On the inside, you tend to be emotional and even a bit moody.
However, you know that people depend on you. So you put on a strong front.
Your color wheel opposite is orange. Orange people may be opinionated, but you feel they lack the depth to truly understand what they’re saying.

Some things actually are true …and others aren’t
Enjoy the quiz and the day (the sun is shining at the moment. I’m outta here)

    See you

  4. I, too, am a Red Crayon. And I love green- olive green, sage green, spring green. Just not bright, St. Patrick’s Day green. I can’t wear that shade. Or Lime. But I love red. My winter jacket, purse, wallet and god knows what else are red. Next to purple it is my favorite color.

Good luck on the changes in the book Julie. It’s tough when deadlines of any type loom near.

And how sad to loose Heath Ledger. Sometimes I wonder if all the hype and money of being rich and famous is worth it.

  7. GREEN CRAYON. Which is odd b/c green is my least fav color. Is this me? Your world is colored in harmonious, peaceful, natural colors.
While some may associate green with money, you are one of the least materialistic people around.
Comfort is important to you. You like to feel as relaxed as possible - and you try to make others feel at ease.
You’re very happy with who you are, and it certainly shows!

Your color wheel opposite is red. Every time you feel grounded, a red person does their best to shake you.

I really wanted to be a red crayon since it’s my favorite color. I love to buy crayons too. I always buy at least 3 or 4 new packs when they have the back to school sales. My nieces prefer markers too, but are pretty much out of luck in my house(cleaning marker off the wall one time too many when they were little). I do buy each their own box of crayons, so no one has to share. It’s funny, one wants only pointy crayons, one breaks them in half, and the other takes all the paper off before she will color with them.

  10. I’m a yellow crayon which is absolutely horrible on me and my opposite is a purple crayon which is my favorite color - GO FIGURE!

  11. I’m a yellow crayon, but the description doesn’t fit me at all. Whereas my favorite color is blue–and the blue crayon description Vero posted sounds just like me!

    Julie, you are definitely red!

  12. Oh, I forgot to add–about the blue crayon description? Everything fits me except “calm.”

  13. Unfortunately, this is true…..sigh….

    ***You Are a Purple Crayon***

Your world is colored in dreamy, divine, and classy colors.
You hold yourself to a sky high standard, and you are always graceful.
People envy, idolize, and copy you without realizing it. You are an icon for those who know you.
And while it is hard to be a perfectionist, rest assured it’s paying off!

Your color wheel opposite is yellow. While yellow people may be wise, they lack the manners and class needed to impress you (LOL on this comment).

ev, I know what you mean about Heath Ledger. I remember when I heard, I thought of his daughter, first. She was only two. So sad.

Julie: I adore crayons. I steal my kids’ crayons.

Although I do remember a bright yellow linen Easter dress, back in my

is my gold drapes. Oh well, you learn something new every day!!

Some of this might be true! It was hard to decide my coloring style as a child as it has been long, long ago!!! My natural hair color was red, it is now mostly gray! Red hair does not gray is a pretty way like darker colored hair. My Mom’s was pretty as her hair was very dark brown, people thought she was having it streaked when she first started going gray! Both yellow & purple are favorite colors of mine & I wear them both a lot!
Fun quiz Julie. Good luck with your deadline.

Carly, glad to see you lurking. I hope you are feeling much better soon but after reading what ails you it might take a few days. Take good care of yourself.
Julie, when my hair was still red I never wore red or hardly & then just a little bit. However, I could wear almost any shade of pink, yellow & other colors. Green & blue do nothing for my skin tones!

I’m the yellow crayon and I wasn’t surprised… I’ve been pegged as Yellow in other color tests I’ve done. I have a friend who always comes up a blue and I’m the yellow girl. Goes with the sunny disposition Call me Pollyanna and I don’t mind…
