Which Hugh Would You Do?
A big thanks to Carly for asking me to guest blog with the plot monkeys! What’s not to love about hanging with some of your favorite authors for a day?
And now to the subject. Like a lot of writers, when I picture a hero for one of my books, I often see him as a celebrity. And to be even more truthful, I often see him as one particular celebrity…Hugh Jackman. Pardon me while I sigh, quiver, drool….
Hugh. Ahhhhhhh…Hugh. Okay, I’ll stop quivering long enough to type the remainder of the blog.
I’m sure you’re thinking, “But each hero is unique.” My answer? “True. But so is each Hugh.”
Here are a couple of examples from my books: In KISS AND DWELL, Ryan Chappelle was a sexy roofer who happened to die before his time (hence the reason he’s glowing on the cover). Who did I see as Ryan? This Hugh (we’ll call this Hugh #1):
In my current release, TO CATCH A CHEAT, Trent Jackson is a sexy-as-all-get-out blast from my heroine’s past who, in my mind, is Hugh #2:
This will give you yet another (and another, and another) indication of the many faces of Hugh…

So many Hughs, so little time. And in case you’re wondering, I’m totally planning to feature as many versions of Hugh as possible in my books. But I do have a favorite, and I’m sure you do too. So here’s my question to you – which Hugh would you do?

Hello Ms. St. John, welcome to the jungle…I am not a writer, only and avid reader…interesting topic to wake up to at 0500hr…All the Hugh’s look great…I must admit that before I scrolled down, the first Hugh I saw in my mind was wolverine…he was sexy then, but he didn’t do anything for me….However, you blog showed me different facets of Hugh, and I must say that I would do Hugh #2 . He is sexy;
as all get out, dressed in black and mysterious enough to make me wonder what he is up to…he is one good looking man, which I never would have seen if you didn’t ask Which Hugh Would You Do? As I write this, I keep scrolling up to see the pics again and I realize that I would do 1, 2 or 4…different faces, circumstances and times…now you”ve got me drooling…love this blog…

Weeeellllll, if I was forced to choose one, it would be #4. That is a hot and sexy picture. I like the clean shaven Hugh best. Long hair makes him look like Keith Urban.

I’d like to clarify…I love Keith Urban’s music and I have no problem looking at him either…especially from Golden Road days. But I really don’t like the look he’s got going on on the cover of People.
My son gave me a HUGE picture of Keith’s Golden Road album cover - like the huge posters they have in music stores. Hubby came home one day and I had replaced the picture above our bed with that one of Keith!
The look on his face was absolutely priceless!!!

Hugh is wonderful….I think that I love him best as Wolverine. I wasn’t a Marvel comic fan as a kid, I love DC comics and Wonder Woman, but I did love X-men.

Well I’d start with Hugh2, then I would do Hugh4 and then Hugh1 and then I would start that order over again (and over and over).
Another great movie with Hugh was Someone Like You. Loved him in that.

You know, on that blond hero thing — I’ve sold 11 books, and only 3 have have blond heroes. Maybe I do tend to go dark on those heroes, hmm? Trent Jackson, the current hero on the shelf, has dark hair (Hugh 2). My real hero (aka The Sexy Cajun) has sandy brown hair, though he’s currently bald by choice
He made that decision on a weekend when I was out of town presenting a writing workshop. I stopped by his office when I got back and saw several men walking around. One of them, a bald guy I didn’t recognize at first, seemed to be wearing clothing oddly similar to the Sexy Cajun’s clothes. And he was built oddly similar too (my hubby was a former gymnast, and he’s got that gymnast build — love a gymnast build! I’ll admit to lust at first sight on that one. Saw him at a gym meet. He was flipping; and I flipped
) Um…what was I talking about? Oh, right, the bald guy wearing my gymnast’s clothes. Yep, that was the hubby, and he’s as Sexy a Cajun bald as he is with hair, let me tell you. Wonder what my editors would say to a bald hero?

I had so much fun writing Marissa and Trent’s story. I’m assuming you saw the video teaser if you went to the site (notice that I purchased a photo for Trent that was as close to Hugh 2 as I could find — he’s not bad, but he isn’t the real thing 
About the concept/premise, there are two cheater database sites already up and rolling (www.dontdatehimgirl.com and http://www.womensavers.com). There may be more, but those were the main two that I knew of when I started writing To Catch a Cheat. The sites allow women to report guys who cheat. Cheaters are placed in a database, so that when you’re thinking about dating a guy, you can “check his record” first. If he’s a cheater, you can show him the door. I loved the idea, and I played around with it a bit and thought — hey, wait a minute, what if the GUY decided to start a payback site? A site that identified girls who lied! And the next thing I knew, Trent and Marissa started their World Wide Web WAR If you haven’t seen the book teaser, you can watch here, if you want — http://www.TheGuyCheats.com or http://www.TheGirlLies.com. What a wonderful way to end a blah day!…I love Hugh Jackman..i think he is just the sexiest Australian ever so of course I am happy that he is the topic of today’s blog!

Hugh #5. I don’t really dig him with the shoulder length hair (although he looked great in Van Helsing) but I like that “growing it out” look. His wife is so lucky! I picture my characters as movie stars, too. Because that’s how I think anyway. When my BF says she met some guy, I usually ask her, “What does he look like, move-star wise.”
I’d almost forgotten how handsome he is. And you found some great pics, too!
