Please drop me a note at author@lesliekelly.com with your snail mail addy and I’ll get your gifts out for you right away. Hope you enjoy!!

Now, for a grin. My Dad actually sent me this joke:

Women are like apples on trees.
The best ones are at the top of the tree.

Most men don’t want to reach for the good ones
because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt.

Instead, they sometimes take the apples from
the ground that aren’t as good, but easy.

The apples at the top think something is wrong
with them, when in reality, they’re amazing.

They just have to wait for the right person
to come along, the one who is brave enough
to climb all the way to the top of the tree.

Now Men…. Men are like a fine wine.

They begin as grapes, and it’s up to women
to stomp the shit out of them
until they turn into something
acceptable to have dinner with.

  4. Congratulations THAT BRUNETTE….

Leslie, your father is a good man to send this one to his daughter…I have actually seen this one before and it always makes me smile…it always seems to come around when you need it too…feeling down bc no man wants to climb to the apple tree to find the best woman at the top…I am going to send this to a friend of mine bc she is feeling like crap about men now…I feel bad for her…she is a wonderful person too…

Janelle, last night I went to see the Jane Austen Book Club, and you were right…it is a good movie, especially if you have read the books they discussed…it made me want to reread them and look for parallels in my life today…when I read them initially, I was a young teen and later in College, but now that I have matured…ahem…I think I can read it with a different perspective now…thanks for the recommendation…next is Elizabeth GA for me…not sure when, but I have to watch the first one…Elizabeth, before going to see that one…

I hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far…I have a reprieve and I was actually able to get some sleep…I slept in until 9:00 a.m. talk to you all later…

    Peace and love,

  7. Leslie, How great of your father to send it to his daughter. I remember your comment that Bruce has always said how important it is to treat you very well, so his daughters would know what to expect from their boyfriends/husbands. He’s so smart to think of it that way. Too many women devalue themselves so they can “have that date on Sat. night”. It’s more important to wait for THE right man, or, if he doesn’t come along, make your own life happier yourself. Nothing is sadder than being married & feeling alone.

    Love the funny, Les!

Paula — I’m so glad that you enjoyed The Jane Austen Book Club. I find myself thinking about the movie every once in a while. I’d definitely go see it again — maybe this time with my daughter.

  10. Congratulations That Brunette!

    Good morning Plotmonkeys and all!

Thanks for the Sunday funny Leslie. I just posted to the Saturday blog with the first line of the BLAZE I’m almost finished writing. Check it out if you have a chance. For some reason I couldn’t access the Plotmonkeys site yesterday.

Carly, are you okay? Have you been sick?

Yesterday was super busy with rehearsal for Harp Fantasia then my daughter Lilly had her birthday party. She had a blast. Her actual birthday was Thursday. Today she is going up to Tall Grass Spa in Evergreen for a spa day with her grandmothers and her cousin.

So my dh and I have a quiet day. Aaah. So nice.

    Have a wonderful day all,

    Cher

  14. Janelle, I went with one of my good friends…she is a Lit teacher and we thought it was really good too…it is definitely a movie to see with girlfriends, daughters, moms…it really touches on all aspects of different relationships…just like Jane Austen’s books…

Julie, I neglected to congratulate you on updating your website…I was out really late and got on when I got back…

I LOVE IT…thanks for updating for us…I love the links too…I see so many books that I still need to get…btw did I tell u how much I liked Under His Spell…I wish it was longer though…the story was great…now are you writing Celine’s (sp?), the woman in all black…computer genius…story or is someone else?

Carly, I hope that everything is okay…I don’t recall reading you being ill, but I could have missed it…

How are things going with the creation of your Haunted House Leslie?

General questions for all: Is anyone going to RWA San Francisco next summer?

    Peace and love,

  15. Liza, Julie - go who? :giggle: Just kidding. I’m a huge race fan so don’t usually have a chance to watch football on Sundays, bt since the race was last night I think I’ll turn it on.

    Congrats - thatbrunette!!

Leslie - I loved the story.

Patricia - you made me think about myself. My mother used to always say, “The worse they treat you the better you like them.” I don’t really know why that was, but somewhere along the line I changed because hubby always makes me feel like I’m the apple of the top of the tree and well worth the climb. I hope I don’t make him feel like whine though!

    Hope you’re feeling better Carly!

  16. Hey, Paula! Out late, hmmm….do we need to hear more? :angel7:

Celine’s story was actually written by Tori Carrington (aka Tony & Lori Karayianni). We need to get them to guest blog over here. Right away.

I’m glad you liked UNDER HIS SPELL…I wish it had been longer, too! Regina and Brock will be back in Josie’s story, so that’s good!

  19. Julie - I love the website!! It looks great! And I went to the Advice for Writer’s section and read the new article about “just get it written.” That was such perfect timing for me since I’m taking part in the Kia Marathon with my RWA Chapter (how many pages can you write in a month?) and then the 70 Days of Sweat with Sven, which starts tomorrow (in conjuntion with NANOWRIMO).

I need to make that my mantra…just write the damn book…just write the damn book…just write the damn book…

    Got it!

  25. Jodie, Thanks for responding. Glad you persisted & found one of the good guys. Hope things, medically, are better at your house these days.

I’ve been single for 38 years since divorcing at 31 (husband, alcoholic). I never thought of remarying due to handicapped daughter, but, I know women can make their lives happier, if they decide NOT to wait for “that guy” to do it for them. My son tells me what some young women’s choices can be these days (& they are not good), & I am appalled that one would compromise their health & safety just to have some guy in her life. I’ve always told my nieces to “make your own career & happiness” & if a nice guy presents himself, that’s great. If not, you’ll still have a good life.
