Pirate Jungle Madness - Carly’s Friday
Attention Aspiring Writers…come back tomorrow for a guest blog by romantic suspense superstar, Karen Rose!
Ahoy, Mates! International TALK LIKE A PIRATE day is September 19th. Now since none of the plotmonkeys is currently writing historicals, you might wonder why I’m bringing this up today. Because I found a rare species called: THE PIRATE MONKEY and I’m giving our plotmonkey visitors a chance to win a PIRATE MONKEY TEE-SHIRT! And a copy of a signed book from my BACKLIST.
We also thought we’d tell you the plotmonkeys favorite pirate books:
1. Carly and Leslie - Johanna Lindsey’s A Gentle Rogue
2. Julie - Marsha Canham’s Iron Rose
3. Janelle - Kresley Cole’s Captain of All Pleasures
For a chance to win: Post your favorite pirate romance or just say I don’t have one! (and maybe you’ll get some new reads here!). Good luck!
PS: Leslie still hasn’t heard from the winner of last week’s Jungle Madness contest! So Joanne K, message # 55 from last Friday, if you’re out there please drop Leslie a line at: author@lesliekelly.com

Mine is a gem by Lisa Kleypas called “Only with Your Love”, written in ‘92. It remains one of my favorite romances ever.

Jennifer Ashley has several pirate books “The Care & Feeding of Pirates” , “”The Pirate next Door” and the Pirate Hunter”.
My first pirate and favorite story was Catherine Coulture’s Devil’s Embrace when Anthony kidnaps Cassie right before her wedding and sails her over to Italy.
I also enjoyed the “Flying Kestrel” with a blind pirate. I don’t remember the author.

I cut my teeth on all the old pirate novels during the 80’s. I still have most of them in a storage box. Nothing like a great bodice ripper.
The shirt is too cute.

I marked my calendar for talk like a Pirate day.
: Thank you Carly for the heads up.

I’m so glad it’s finally Friday. I have to confess that I’ve never read a pirate romance. Honestly. I prefer to read your books.
and than you also offer one of your books, I simply had to take part.
But another one is saying “Take part and try it” :angel7:
and everybody else out there a great and safe weekend
But that pirate monkey on that shirt is too cute
Right now a voice is telling me “Forget it, you’re not going to win”
So the :angel7: won and I’m entering the contest. Now, I’m praying  and wishing and hoping that the winner is … me.
Wish all of you plot
Comment by Vero — September 14, 2007 @ 1:11 pm
I don’t have a pirate book on my favorites list, probably because I have never read one. I can talk like a pirate, though, “SHIVER ME TIMBERS, ARRRRR”.
Keep good thoughts today for me. Meeting with son’s teachers…..yes, it is only day 9, 171 to go….hopefully, we’ll get some stuff figured out
. I am also illin’ so this is going to be interesting. I am missing my honey, Keith Urban tonight because I feel so miserable. My mom is visiting and she’s sick, too. Joy of joys!

It has been years since I have read a “pirate romance”. These days I rarely read a historical. My favorites from long ago are Fern Michaels series Captive Passions, Embraces, Splendors & Secrets. Those were very good when I read them.
Thanks Carly.

I frist started reading romances with a pirate theme when someone gave me a copy of Kathleen Woodwiss’ SHANNA. And I really liked Virginia Henley’s THE PIRATE AND THE PAGAN and THE HAWK AND THE DOVE.
For those interested in a list of pirate romances go to http://www.RomanticTimes.com and click on Books and then click on Themes where you will find a long list of these kinds of books and their authors.
