Leslie’s Jungle Madness Friday!

Leslie Icon

“Tra la, it’s May, the lusty month of May, that lovely month when everyone goes blissfully astray, tra la, it’s here, that shocking time of year, when tons of wicked little thoughts merrily appear!”
(Brownie points if you can name the musical…and a backlist book to the first one who can name the actress who sang it in the original Broadway version!)

Okay, ’nuff about my Broadway fixation. To get to the point:

Spring has arrived! Not just on the calendar, but in the air and in the garden.

The days are warm and long. The skies are clear and blue. There’s a nest of adorable baby bunnies living right in the back yard and every day we go out and peek at the babies, cooing, ooing and aahing. And everywhere I look are the beautiful flowers I remember from this area, that I have so missed in the 15 years in Florida.

So to celebrate spring and flowers and cwuuute fuzzy widdle bunnies!!!!–here’s a lovely “welcome spring” gift.

These beautiful irises come boxed, not vased, and they’ll be shipped directly to you.

And in honor of bunnies (and because I’m one twisted woman) a copy of:

Flowers…bunnies…love…Must be spring!

PS: I’ll throw in a backlist book to the winner, too!

You know the deal, just leave a comment–it’s as simple as delurking and saying Happy Spring–and you’re entered!

(Note: Due to the flower shipment, winner must be in the U.S. only.)

Happy Spring everyone!

  1. Happy Friday! It’s finally the weekend!

So, what’s everyone reading? I’m in my historical phase right now and have fallen for Kresley Cole’s Highlanders. “If You Dare” is wonderful, and I’m looking forward to the next two in the trilogy.

  6. Happy Spring everyone!!

Since I can’t do much with this stupid finger still in a splint, I am reading and catching up on tv. I have the plumber coming today!! And I am off work in nice weather!!

I am reading Alice Cooper, Golf Monster. I never do bios but this one if funny. It appealed to me because 1) he is a very smart and funny guy to listen to. When they changed radio formats here and I lost his nightly show, I was heartbroken and 2) I love to watch the Michael Douglas pro/am tourney with Alice in it. He is probably the best amature out there and I am a closet golf addict. Unlike him I don’t have the talent to play though.

  8. Happy Spring to all. I love the flowers and the bunny book, way cool. For the song I immediately thought of Wicked. I haven’t seen that one but for some odd reason I could invision the witch singing it with a twisted side.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. And just in case Julie checks the blog this weekend, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend in Chicago!

  13. I know I’m not the first person to answer but yes it’s Camelot with Julie Andrews - my mother played that “record” over and over when I was a little girl. I grew up singing broadway show tunes with my mum around the house. She still sings them to me to this day! Thanks for bringing up a great memory for me.
    Have a great weekend.

    Happy Spring & Friday!

    Comment by Shannon Upright — May 4, 2007 @ 9:11 am

  15. Shannon - I’m thinking it’s cold!! What happened to the 93 degrees we had on Wed? Not sure where you are, but I’m near the coast and they were forecasting a great wesekend for us but now they’re forecasting rain. But we desperately need it so I’ll just stay inside and read.

Right now I’m reading: “Unzipped” with Lori Foster and Janelle, “Bad Boys w/Red Roses, Stephen King’s Memoirs and Cheyanne McCrays, “Wunderland, King of Clubs.” And yes, I’m reading them all at the same time. I have them all over the house and in my car and just pick up whatever’s closest when I have a few minutes to fit in some reading.

I really do need Reader’s Annonymous!

    Have a great weekend everyone!

  17. Carly, I just started The Secret, also. Tonight we are watching the movie. We should discuss it when we are finished.

I saw part of the movie in Nov. at a Mary Kay class, and wow my life changed for like 3 weeks until I visited my mother….hmm…wonder what that means.

So, I am very excited to have finally gotten the book (on sale for 16.96 at Target) and have it to read over and over escpecially since we are spending 6 weeks with mom this summer.

We are off to Zion for the weekend. Have a wonderful day!

  27. Happy Spring to all!

OT, but, first of all, want to send RIP to THE BEST TV series ever about a RL teen & parent, i.e., THE GILMORE GIRLS. While I liked the first several years best, when the focus was mainly on Lorelei & Rory, this was consistently the ONLY TV series I can recall that kept its focus on an intelligent, compassionate & considerate teen, with college (& getting good grades) as her goal, & her “less than perfect” mom, & I will miss it terribly. Hurrah to WB who had the guts to produce something different, & the consortium who influenced those in charge to produce a TV program about a *different* type of American family than those previously shown on TV. Lauren Graham & Alexis Bledel (her first acting job) have been terrific. Anybody want to guess when we will NEXT see a series that intelligent on TV again (& I worked in the industry for 30 years)?

Expanding on the reading topic, I’m in the middle of CAUSING HAVOC by Lori Foster, which I’m enjoying very much. Long live the Contemps!

  28. What BEAUTIFUL flowers….I was just outside putting my ‘big guy (who’s going to be 7 in 13 days!)” on the bus and looking at my irises (they seem to be split because of the rain . I keep telling myself, it’s going to be 100 for MONTHS pretty soon, so I’d better enjoy the rain!

Happy Weekend, Everyone….I will probably spend it in bed with the bug my little guys have . Oh well, the joy of children!

  29. Julie Andrews in camelot sounds right to me, or did she just do the sound

    track?

May is my month I don’t have to share it with other family members.

    Mother’s Day…Birthday…Anniversary…

Good thing I am not a high maintainence gal or hubby could go broke.

The bunnies sound very special, and the mother very trusting.

We had a deer and her fawn visit us last week and I know how special

it can feel to see new life. I love irises (sorry Julie better than tulips)

Leslie I still don’t have a signed book of yours, so my name is so in the hat.

I am reading Dangerous Games by Lora Leigh, I just finished Nauti Boys.

If you like light erotica with a story she is good

(not too over the top for me)

I picked her books up because I remembered her name from an older

Bad Boys Book I had read. Next I’ll probably read the Heiress for Hire

    by Erin McCarthy.

    Have a nice weekend everyone.

The weather is finally turning nice here.

  52. I wish that I knew the answer but if I have ever heard the song, it must have been a long time ago because I don’t remember it. Although, I do love the lyrics.

The Irises look so beauitful. We had such warm weather in March that everything started blooming. Then a cold spell hit, bringing along a deep freeze with it, killing everything. I looked outside today and I only have one iris. SO SAD!

Hope that you all have a great weekend and good luck to you all.

It’s storming outside so I had better get off this computer.

  54. Donna M,

I also read Mallery’s Marcelli series. I enjoyed the first 4, THE SEDUCTIVE ONE being my favorite, but, was very disappointed in the newest, THE MARCELLI PRINCESS, which I thought was the least interesting of them all. I had hoped for more resolution of the family members, but, it did not go that way. In any event, the first 3, particularly, were very good.

  55. Patricia–I was a HUGE Gilmore Girls fan. We have seasons 1-4 on DVD. But honestly, last year when they introduced Luke’s supposed kid, the show just lost me. It “jumped the shark” as the saying goes. I have watched only a handful of episodes this year…just not interested anymore. The chacters have been behaving out of character, the writing hasn’t been as sharp, I haven’t liked the direction of the story. Very sad!

But yes, in its heydey, it was magnificent! Julie and I actually use an episode of Gilmore Girls for a workshop we do!

  61. Leslie, I read in the newspaper account that the two originators/EPs of the series (i.e., in the industry called the “showrunners” left at the end of the last year, so, undoubtedly, that might be the reason for your discontent. Over the last few years, while my daughter has watched it pretty religiously, I’ve been in/out. Initially, it was so interesting that the daughter really functioned as the *mother*, not the other way around. The two actresses were terrific together, & I loved that it was based on a normal-kid. I had previously read that both leads had expressed interest in doing other roles so that might have impacted it, too.
