Julie’s Jungle Madness Friday

Julie Icon

In honor of the upcoming Irish holiday, I picked something green as my prize this week. I’ll throw in a book, too, if the winner’s comment contains a line about their favorite good luck charm!

Found this at a great website called Wine Country Gift Baskets. Couldn’t resist the coconut lime and this looks like a great introduction to Wine Country’s Cru de Provence luxurious spa products. Cru de Provence coconut lime scented body butter, body bar and matching soap dish, moisturizing gloves and coconut lime hand cream fill this functional and stylish boat tote.

You know the drill…post your comment and be entered…winners in the continental US only

I do have a coin I got from Jessie James Hideout in Missouri when I was 10. I don’t have to have it with me or anything, just think it would be bad mojo to get rid of it now.

  6. Great prize, as usual. I guess my favorite good luck charm is a cheap pair of eaarings I got a long time ago. I don’t know that they bring me luck . . . but I do always feel confident when I wear them.Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone!

  7. Julie,

Great Choice! I use Wine Country Gift Baskets a lot for my company - we send out gifts to our clients and they’re always very stylish & reasonably priced! Cute bag! I have a small pewter viking that is my lucky charm, since I’m one half Icelandic….I’m pretty sure there’s some Irish in me from those long ago Viking raids……

  9. Top of the morning to ya! (just add the accent)…I have a necklace that hangs in my van that was made by my grandson that I consider my good luck charm. The day I got it I hesitated at a light after it had turned green…its a good thing I did, because a semi ran the red light and came barreling through the intersection about where I would have been.

  10. Happy Saint Patrick’s Day weekend everyone! Great prize!
I have a little green Connemarra (? spelling) marble worry stone that I carry around to rub for good luck.

  11. Well…I don’t really have a lucky charm. But…Lucky Charms cereal is my absolute favorite! I can’t buy it because I’ll sit down and eat half a box in one sitting.

Have a great weekend everyone, and thanks for the reminder that tomorrow is the 17th. Gotta buy a birthday present for a friend whose birthday is tomorrow!

  12. Happy St. Patty’s day everyone!!! I actually carry a wheat penny in my purse at all times. My grandfather collected them when I was growing up, and I’ve always looked for them to give to him. I still carry the last one I found with me.

    Comment by Liza — March 16, 2007 @ 8:41 am

  13. Happy Friday, everyone!!!

A fabulous prize! My “good” luck charm is a ring I wear. It is the theatre mask of comedy and tragedy (I have a degree in Dramatic Arts thus the theatre mask). I haven’t experienced good luck; however, it reminds me that while tragedy comes with life, you also have to remember the comedy and the happy times to even it all out.

  14. Good morning Julie!
My favorite good luck charm is the diamond solitaire pendant my mother gave me when I turned 25. It was her engagement ring that she had remounted for me and I have worn it every day for over 20 years. I figure I have a good home, my health, my family and a good job and good friends. It must be working!!
    Have a great holiday weekend.

  16. I love the prize. My favorite good luck charm is this little saudered silver heart I always keep in my change purse. My husband was doing something with sauder (sp?) and he had some left over and fashioned me a tiny heart. I thought it was extremely sweet and I always keep it with me.

    Happy Friday Everyone!

  18. Happy Friday everyone…even though were getting hit with SNOW in March
Don’t really have a good luck charm, I’m one of those people who if it weren’t for bad luck wouldn’t have any luck at all
Watched a really good show last night called October Road, it reminded me of a book I read, but it’s driving me crazy because I can’t figure out which book
Anyway…great prize and Happy St. Patrick’s Day (one day early)!

    Comment by Tina Martinesi — March 16, 2007 @ 9:40 am

  19. Look at all the good luck charms! Jodie, I laughed at yours because I’m a huge Lucky Charm eater, too. Love them!

Nina, glad to know this is a good company as it’s the first time I’m using them. I wanted to do an Italian gift as an anti-St. Patrick’s Day thing, but my heart wasn’t in it. I love any holiday that is about having fun!

    Comment by Julie Leto — March 16, 2007 @ 9:44 am

  20. Yummmy! Coconut lime! You gals have the greatest giveaways! My lucky charm is an angel coin I carry in my purse. A girlfriend and I were at a Joan Jett concert and we sat next to an older couple. We started talking and I mentioned that I had a 5 month old at home. He reached into his pocket and pulled out this angel coin and gave it to me. Said it would always bring me luck. I carry it in my purse almost 5 years later. My son turns 5 today! (I can’t believe it)

  21. What an awesome and beautiful prize. I love the color apple green!

    Comment by katie — March 16, 2007 @ 9:45 am

  22. Happy Birthday to your baby, Sherry! I love Joan Jett, btw. I’m amazed how many people have coins.

Tina, I watched part of October Road last night, too. I liked it, but I was too tired to stay up and watch the whole thing. It was a little slow, but I like the premise. I’ll probably watch again.

I guess I should mention that my lucky charm is a bracelet given to me by my grandmother. It’s a pink rosary bracelet that you will likely see me wearing at any conference, particularly on travel days. It was blessed by the Pope in Rome or so I was told. Maybe it was just the parish priest, but my grandmother had been to Rome before she gave it to me. I was only about 10 and no one else seems to remember.

  25. Julie, I got the Idiot’s Guide to Writing Erotic Romance by Alison Kent the day it was released. I immediately read most of it but stopped at Chapter 20. I just picked it back up today and what a great plug for you in there - pg 221 for anyone who has or gets the book.

I haven’t read the two books she mentions but I’m gonna have to them now!!!

    Comment by Jodie — March 16, 2007 @ 9:55 am

  26. Jodie, both of those books were recently re-released. Good Girls Do! was re-released last year and Pure Chance was re-released in the collection titled New Orleans Nights. FYI! I have Alison’s book (also bought it as soon as it came out) but I hadn’t had time to read it. Thanks for letting me know! Alison is the best. One of the first Temptation authors I fawned over when meeting her in Orlando in 1997. Call Me is one of my favorite all-time Temptations. She’s a good friend now!

    Comment by Julie Leto — March 16, 2007 @ 10:03 am

  27. I love coconut lime! And it’s a pretty package too! Can’t really say I have a good luck charm that is always in my possession. But I do have certain clothing that I refuse to get rid of because it was given to me by my grandma or was my mom’s that I will not get rid of.

    Comment by Michelle — March 16, 2007 @ 10:08 am

  28. Count me in!

My lucky charm is a letter my husband wrote me when we were in High School. At the time, I thought it was pure poetry (I did marry him, after all!). Looking back, it’s full of cliches but who cares? It’s the sentiment behind it all that I love. I keep it in my wallet and I’ve looked at hundreds of times over the past 19 years that it’s barely in one piece! :love2:

I have carried my blarney stone with me for about 55 years.

I got it as a trinket at “The Cathedral of the Pines” in N.H.

When I was a young girl Grandma and I would take bus tours (she didn’t

drive.) This trip was a favorite, as it was my first. It was a beautiful fall

in the mountains. Great memories. I would love to have a book signed by

Does it count if I had one when I was in school. I had an orange rabbit’s foot (FAKE) on a key chain and it hung on my purse. It’ was the fad then! lol

    Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!

  50. Nice prize, Julie! For Shannon Upright - solder or soldered is the correct spelling. I have a four leaf clover and a 1910 dime that I keep in my wallet. In 1977, in Glacier National Park, Montana, two hikers gave me the four leaf clover since I gave them a ride. That was before people were worried about getting murdered by hitchhikers. I was working as a geologist for Exxon at the time and it turned out they were also geologists (working for Texaco) that were on vacation and had just finished a 10 mile hike. Plus, since they had bells around their ankles (to scare off bears) and hiking boots on, they looked like real hikers.

  51. Very exciting! I don’t really have a good luck charm. I think more in terms of karma if I’m really good today then maybe I won’t be hit by a bus but there’s no guarantee.

  52. Hey, if you can get to Ireland really quick, like by tomorrow, PaddyWagon tours is having a special Irish tour. We’re hoping to go June/July and take one of their tours but I’ll bet the tour on the 17th is really special! My favorite St. Patrick’s Day was in Savannah, GA, where all the fountains spouted green water (don’t think it was beer, I didn’t try it).

My good luck charm is difficult to carry around - my dog’s buddha belly. I rub it and she has the excellent luck of love and affection!

  55. Does that bag come with a hot man?? I could use a massage BAD!! I’m home from college and sleeping on this stupid bed of mine that consistes of a broken frame, a mattress and a futon on top of that. NO support at all and I”m haveing major back pain. To the point of sometimes my legs going numb. It didnt help that I turned 21 last sunday, I’ve been everywhere this week hanging out with old frinds and family. Dang I need sleep. LOL.

Good luck charms hmm? I have this necklace with a heart on it made of diamonds. My mother gave it to me a while ago for chirstmas one year and I put it on the moment I’m up and dressed to the very last minute I’m about to fall asleep and then I take it off. Part of me always believed I would have bad luck if I dont wear it or something bad would happen to my family so I always wear it.

  56. :present: Great prize Julie.
I don’t carry a good luck charm except when I travel. I have special “dirt” that comes from a sacred place in Arizona. A lady from work brought it back to me from her trip there & I keep it in my overnight bag so it is always with me when I travel to keep me safe. So far it is working! I’ve had it a long time & forget the details she told me when she gave it to me! I keep it in a little decorative box & I’ve wondered what would happen if they opened that box at a security check!! How to explain “dirt”!!!!
Have a great weekend everyone & enjoy “St. Patrick’s Day” tomorrow.

  84. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all ye irish folk!

I absolutely adore the prize since lime and coconut are both favorites of mine. My good luck charm used to be a favorite shirt I would wear when I had to give a speech. (Which I hate doing by the way) Now that my speech days are over with, my favorite good luck charm is something that hangs in my car and next to my bed. I have two of them in different colors. They are dreamcatchers done in feathers.

One I bought when I was at a wonderful family outing on the lake in Culver, Indiana at a fair. The weather was just perfect and we had so much fun that day. We sat and watched the Forth of July fireworks out over the lake at the end of the day.

The second dream catcher I bought was when my husband and I went to Frankenmuth, Michigan. That was an incredible weekend we had! We ate so much and shopped till we dropped!
