Ev - glad he’s feeling better. Was it the peanut butter?
It’s very frustrating to not know what’s wrong.
Right after hubby and I got married he ended up in the hospital for 5 days and they never did figure out what was wrong with him. Fortunately, he got better so whatever they did worked!

Wow. Thanks. Yay me!

Cherylann - I don’t think it’s much different this year than it’s ever been. I jsut think Nascar has imposed much larger fines and the media has picked up on it more. Jimmy Johnson proved last year it can be done without a crew cheif so I’ll be interested to see how these teams do. Especially the Evernham teams without 3 crew chiefs - that’s gotta hurt!

Yay You!
Congrats Heather.

Shoppings good. I am trying to go though my tbr pile untils all the March releases I want. Now that Don is retired I am being much more selective.
Plotmonkeys?
Do you get to choose the size of the fonts used in your books? Just was wondering. I was in the book store yesterday and these 4 elderly women were discussing how they could no longer read some of their favorite authors because their books had such small print.
I left with this sad feeling in the pit of my stomach. How many years do I have left that I can read my books without that concern? I know we are an aging population so I guess someone is probably addressing it , Huh?
Comment by jeannie — February 18, 2007 @ 2:28 pm
Jeannie — we don’t have a say in the font size used in our books. That’s all up to the publisher, and unfortunately with the cost of publishing a book, and paper, etc., they tend to use smaller fonts so the book ends up with less “print” pages, if that makes sense. Most of us turn in manuscripts that are 400-450 pages long, and by the time the book is in print, it’s been reduced to 300-350 pages! :|

Janelle’s right, we have NO say. But rest assured that authors are continually pestering publishers about font size. Unfortunately, it’s a bottom line thing.
I will say that luckily, a lot of books are now coming out in ebooks. For those with eye problems, they can be a godsend since the font size can be adjusted. I think Fictionwise has at least 6 of my books from HQ and Pocket available in ebook format.

Janelle and Julie,
Thanks for answering.
Sure must be frustrating to be the ones helping bring in all the bucks and having so little input. Sure enough to give this little old lady nightmares, shame on them.
Janelle when do you think we’ll see the next “Wilde” one? I sure love those guys. No surprise there you always sizzle.
Next book release date?
Julie, Any luck getting Marisela picked up yet? I read them and they were great.
What’s next for you?
I just pulled the VLT Nerd series from my to be read pile so I have the rest of my February reads ready. I haven’t read her yet and I always do a series start to finish when I can.

Hi Jodie,
Your right Jimmie did prove it last year that it cld be done. I feel so bad for Mikey I know he is hurting especially since his daughter asked why he cheated.
My son & hubby are rooting for Gordon and I keep teasing my son what’s the matter Jeff can’t race without his car being fixed
and he will say look at Mikey because I like Mikey & Dale.

Thanks for asking about hubby.
So far the Drs have said the tests came back negative, HOWEVER, per one of the nurses, by the time the knew to check for it, he had cleaned himself out of anything that might have triggered the tests. Tomorrow I am calling the CDC and seeing what they can tell me, or if they want to test the jar. Still not happy with the lack of findings, but am happy that every test they gave him shows him to be clear of anything. they did another colonoscopy, sona gram, mri, ultrasounds, upper and lower GI’s. He’s healthy as a horse. Just doesn’t want to eat like one right now which is good. I’m not letting him drive either- I like his car. Any excuse to drive it.:thumbsup2:

Jeannie, nothing definitive on Marisela…except a lot of very complimentary rejections. Seriously, everyone was very complimentary of the stories and the writing, but just couldn’t see the right way to market the books. In the meantime, I’m working on my new ghost gypsy series for NAL/Signet. I’m very, very excited about it!
Comment by Julie Leto — February 18, 2007 @ 7:41 pm
Julie,
I am so bummed about Marisela let us tell those people a thing or two because we want MARISELA
I got Private Lessons yesterday
Comment by Cherylann — February 18, 2007 @ 8:06 pm
Anyone who just watched the race will understand. I’m a Mark Martin fan and I thought for sure it was going to be his year. I’m so frustrated for him I want to cry!
Cherylann - sorry, not a good finish for Jr. either - I didn’t even notice where Mikey ended up but how did Gordon end up so high?!? Guess all those cars not finishing in front of him helped (lol).
Comment by Jodie — February 18, 2007 @ 8:31 pm
Thanks, Cherylann! I appreciate your outrage on Marisela’s behalf, I really do. All is not lost…there is still at least one publisher still interested. And you know, maybe she’s just ahead of her time. Maybe waiting until I can get the rights back to the first two books might not be a bad thing.
Also, if my NAL paranormal series does well, they are open to the idea of pursuing Marisela. So there is that!
Comment by Julie Leto — February 18, 2007 @ 8:39 pm
Me too!

He got robbed .
Comment by jeannie — February 18, 2007 @ 8:44 pm
I sure hope someone picks up Marisela.

Jeannie — My next Wilde book will be out September of this year! It’s Joel Wilde’s story in BORN TO BE WILDE.
Comment by Janelle — February 18, 2007 @ 10:32 pm
Oh how exciting! September works wonderfully for me being vacation time
and all. I put you first on the list of to takes. It’s all about a Maine camp,
my true love, camp fires, toasted marshmallows, country fairs, colorful
folliage and great books. Oh yeah and no bugs!
I have been
waiting for Joel’s story. I’m sure it will be well worth the wait.
