Christmas Eve-Eve Saturday Chit-Chat

“What present would you like most this holiday season?
(No cheating and saying fabulous contracts, world peace or George Clooney! Those are a given.)”

LK: I want an official Red Ryder carbine action two-hundred shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time.

Um…okay, no. That’s Ralphie, not me. Hmm, what do I realllly want beyond a miracle pill to make 30 pounds disappear and remove all the gray from my hair and the wrinkles from my face? That’s tough–I have everything I need. Except a house! That’s what I want. A house. I want to sell my house in Florida and have a new house of my own up here in Maryland.

But since I probably won’t get that by Monday, I’ll vote for a pair of fun and funky winter boots to wear in case it EVER gets cold and/or snows up here. And maybe a cute new pair of jammies to wear when I go see my Plotmonkey posse in just a couple of weeks! Yahoooooooo!!

JEL: I guess the jammies I got us for the summer aren’t flannel, are they? Wait…darn. Just checked the weather. It’s cold. Relatively speaking. Man, the food better be good because I’m going to have to pack a LOT of sweaters. Oh, wait…whining isn’t part of this answer. I want my daughter to get her cast off, while I also want her to realize that wearing a cast isn’t the end of the known universe. I want to get willpower for Christmas, so I can keep up my exercise regimen…or at least, the exercise regimen I intend to have after the new year. I want an outfit to go with the coolio boots my husband got me for Christmas. (Yes, I know I’m not supposed to see them, but I had to try them on…they are cool-iiii-o!) I want to work on a book that doesn’t try to wrestle me to the ground. And succeed. I want more time to go see movies! And I want my weekend with my girls!!!

CP: I want time alone to breath. I want a book that doesn’t pressure me. I want to write and find pleasure. I want a vacation with my husband. (i.e. time alone to breath). Not asking for much, am I? Oh and the yellow gold Cartier LOVE bracelet. NOW I’m not asking for much, am I?

JD: As you all can probably tell, I think the holiday stress has gotten to us Plotmonkeys, LOL! We’re all looking forward to our yearly retreat next month! This is a tough question, because I truly have everything I could ever NEED. And for me, I already got my Christmas present this year — my two teenage girls, who HATE to have their picture taken, grinned for the camera and let someone take beautiful pictures of them. I couldn’t be happier. It’s been such a long time since I’ve had really nice photos of them done up, and it makes me realize just how grown up my two girls have become! ::sniff:: Other than that, I would love another 12 hours in a day, time to read all the wonderful books in my to-be-read pile, the energy and enthusiasm to write as fast and as well as Nora, and a magic wand that makes my house clean and spotless when it’s waved over a mess (and there are plenty of them!).

Now what about all of YOU? What present would you like most this holiday season?

  1. I know this may sound sappy but all I want is my two year old daughter to be happy when she wakes up and sees her gifts on Christmas morning.

As I said yesterday my whole family (29 of us) are leaving for Disney on the 26th. So I am looking forward to the trip too. But I will be happiest if my daughter likes her presents.

  2. I want my almost 22 year old daughter to not complain about what she gets for Christmas. And for the rest of the kids to listen when she tells them what she does want. (I’ll save that for next year.) Quit getting the punk rock/goth/country loving kid girlie stuff you know she won’t use. :present:

And I want everyone to go home early on Christmas Night so I can finally relax. :cocktail::cocktail:

And snow. But that ain’t happening either- NY seems to have moved to a warmer climate.

  3. Leslie,
If you should ever find that miracle pill PLEASE share it with me!

  4. I too would like to find the miracle pill that Leslie is wanting, but since that isn’t going to happen, I think I would just like some down time, where I could just read, read and read some more without the guilty feeling that I should be doing something else………..

  6. Are we talking reality here or don’t I wish!!!
My wish would be a day at a Spa, the money & time to do some traveling & continued good health, no more ugly surprises like having to get a crown done on a tooth just before Christmas to the tune of $640, thank heavens for credit cards!!! I’d like to win the trip to an Oprah taping that she is giving away to 8 winners. I guess that is enough wishing, no need to get greedy! Oh one last one, a magic cleaning fairy to help me get my house in order, it has been sadly neglected fot way to long!! Cleaning house is one of my very least favorite activites!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE. ENJOY THIS LOVELY LONG WEEKEND. :love2: :present:

  7. I too would like Leslie’s magic pill. I really like Mark and Noelle.
Wow Carly, Cartier :love2: bracelet. Sound delicious.
Boots should certainly come with an outfit. Even if just the top to a Santa suit (of course with thong):love2:
Oh Janelle I wish my kids would do that. That sound wonderful.

No offense to Nora, I’m sure she is great. I have never read a book she has written. There are so many, with my have to have them all mentality,
I’d never catch up. I guess I figured anyone that can write that many, that fast Oh well. I’ll take a Plot monkey book first any day of the week, even on a holiday. Maybe I love you gals because you struggle to make each and every book special. So a little struggle to be extra desirable, Hmmmm. I am glad you are all getting a break.
Me, I want a few days off and a dragon stove topper. We have a wood stove and I think the dragon is so cool. Then I want gloves and slippers.
Nothing extravagant as long as my family is all together,
    I’ll be very happy.
    Warmest wishes to all,
    jeannie

  8. Portable DVD player, if I had to say one thing

    I honestly don’t know what I want

  9. Honestly, I just want to be appreciated. Sometimes, I think that I am not appreciated. I know my boys appreciate me, but I do so much for lots of people, that’s what comes to mind first. Okay, I also want my boys to enjoy Christmas. It’s so tough to buy for them.

Beyond that, just joy for all of the plotmonkey group. You have saved me many times.

  10. Oh Katie, I appreciate you. I loved your poem. I was so proud to see you post it. My buttons burst. It was from your heart and that makes it so special.
:present:I wrapped all my gifts early and then spent the last 3 days at work wrapping all the guys family gifts. :present: I am a lucky old lady I work with a wonderful bunch of handsome young men. The call me Grammy and so I wrap :present:. Oh yeah and a couple of fun gals too. Yup I also did their wrapping. :present: I don’t think I have ever in my lifetime wrapped more gifts than this week.:present::present: Next year it’s definitely gift cards and the week before Christmas off for me.:lightbulb: Your right Katie there is a fine line in being treated as a kind giving person and feeling used. I guess I am the giving kind and can relate to your worries. Of course when you are my age you just spit out words when you think them. That’ll usually work for me.
I wish for you a wonderful Holiday. :present:I’m sure you are much more appreciated than than people let on. Sons are men and aren’t always the best at expressing their feeling. I’m sure with your big heart you are loved more than you would ever believe. Hugs and prayers, jeannie:love2:

  11. Leslie, I’ll keep you in my prayers that your house sells - QUICKLY! There was kind of this deal that I had with a couple of other people who had their houses for sale. We all prayed for each other’s house to sell instead of our own. Mine sold at the end of November and I felt like I hit the lottery!

I want you (and anyone else who has a house for sale) to get to have that feeling too. Probably not by Monday, but maybe by New Year’s Day you’ll have an offer.

Hope everyone else gets exactly what they’re hoping for too!

  12. Jeannie: I almost cried when I read your post. I think my sons appreciate me (they give me lots of hugs and kisses, and tell me they love me a lot). I don’t think hubby appreciates all that I do for our family and his family and my family around this time. Worse, his family doesn’t say “THANK YOU” and act like they are owed gifts. I just wish that one of them would say, “Thank you”. What can I say? I have taught my boys to say it (and my oldest has autism, so talking is difficult for him).

I am glad you enjoyed my poem. I am not a poet. I love this community so much and it is fun to ‘hang with the girls” (Okay, I do know that guys post, too). I am so appreciative of this community, the writers and posters.

Well, I am off to do some more Christmas stuff (I am down to baking cookies)….just a couple more and I am DONE!

  13. To sell my house, so I can move closer to my grandsons. But that is not going to happen before Monday, so———-a gift certificate to buy Books!

  14. Oh, Katie, you are most definitely appreciated here! All of us truly appreciate every person who comes here and hangs out with us!

Here’s a big cyber hub of appreciation to all of you!

  15. Since I cant have George, how about an hour shopping spree in Borders! Or maybe a $1,000 gift certif to Borders. I guess these 2 wishes are almost up there with Clooney.

Seriously, I wish good health for my daughter.

  16. I know it is not in the cards for me because it is way to expensive but, if I could, boy would I love one of those new sony readers. I saw one at best buy and boy is it impressive. I’m not cooking. I passed that job on to my sons and there respective others. I actually went to the nail salon with a gift certificate from my hubby and got the nails/pedicure today. I had never done this until I was in treatments for cancer and my hubby took me one day and said I needed a pick me up and it would make me feel good. No kidding it was amazing then and I still get in there once a month. One of the few things I do for me. :present:
Hey Katie, write “dear whoever” about those in-laws lack of thank-you_s. Them make sure they each get mailed an anonymous copy.
Make sure you mail one to yourself too.

  17. I am so chatty today oh well….
I am about half way thru Leslies, Don’t Open Till Christmas.
I like the characters a lot. I’ll get back to you when I finish. :love2:
I know I have slowed down but there are so many things going on.
I have to grab a few pages before bed and I fall asleep before I get to many pages read.

  18. I have had both my boys home this past week, which is always my favorite wish for Christmas. But should they decide to maybe go skiing next week for a couple of days, I would then have my second favorite gift, the house to myself, just me and my tbr pile. Okay, and maybe some really good take out…and See’s candy that I don’t have to share.

  19. Jeannine and Leslie…thanks for the cyber hugs. I feel a lot better. Geez…I just don’t understand when saying or writing a note “Thank you” became SO out of fashion (I am only 36 years old and my mom taught me ALWAYS to say ‘thank you”.
