I’m an online shopper. Not to mention a catalog shopper. Hopefully, anything I want to buy can be found there. Lately, I’ve been marketing the company for which I’m a Consultant (www.barefootparties.com/celisecolston) to encourage people to buy online instead of hitting the malls.

This time, though, I’ll be hitting the grocery store. Because there, I can now get gift cards. Yay!

I’m a last minute shopper myself, much to my family’s chagrin, but oh well…they get their gifts, don’t they? And you will never see me shopping on Black Friday again…

I shop all year as well, so I am pretty much done. I love the clearence sales that pop up and have gotten some fun stuff. I am also a big fan of amazon.com. My husband is wiggin’ cuz he has not even started yet and I am the only one he shops for. I cover everybody else. I offered to go on line and pick out a few things for myself and he resisted at first but now he is cool with it. I just have a few small things to get here and there.

I am pretty much done, too. I did the whole thing on the internet this year, just had to hunt down some stocking stuffers, and that was easy and painless. I don’t like the crowds, or the jammed parking lots, and the intersections backed up for blocks…wow, I really did do good this year.

ev, My hubby ASKED me, “what do you want?”. I made a list and said, “I REALLY want these things AND anything from my online wish list is good.’ So, what DOES HE NOT get me….the stuff on the list that I had to spend time on because he specifically asked for. DUH. ev, keep telling your hubby about what you want. I told him I would get the things I wanted MYSELF. It’s not that hard….that’s when I told him maybe he needs to give me a budget and I will be happy to buy my own stuff.

I love gift cards (and I am not that old!) because they can pick out exactly what they want. I get so tired of exchanging my son’s presents after Christmas (so, maybe one toy under the tree and then a gift card). I hate going into TOYS R US and then, getting garbage from my in laws because my boys don’t use the toys they got them (they already have it or don’t like it). I think I need a gift certificate to a shrink for my in law issues….LOL! I am SOOOO off topic.

Katie- I asked hubby if he knew what he was getting me yet and he said I hadn’t told him!!

Any of the posts on other sites I have read,most seniors think that gift cards are wonderful- they don’t need anything else to dust or find space for, orclothes that aren’t their style or don’t fit so they have to return them. G/c’s to their favorite restaurants, grocery stores or even services that they use (or could use) seem to be what they really, really like.

Cryna: Don’t worry about gift certificates..I think they are perfect for people. I totally agree…why spend extra postage, when they can have exactly what they want and get a lot more!!!!

I only have to buy for my two grandchildren, because we do not buy for the adults and have not for a few years now. This year I am opting out for Gift Certificates for them, because they are just at the age where I have a hard time figuring out what they want……….I know, I know it is the chicken’s way out, but I cannot stand crowds and since they have to be mailed, the postage charges would kill me and I could just add extra to their gift certicates. I will cook dinner for my parents and sister who is here, and for the rest it will be very low keyed………

It totally stresses me until I’ve finished. I don’t want to think about it ’til after Thanksgiving though and usually I can’t seem to get motivated until we get our first snow (which happened to be today) and it feels more like the right time of year.
