Is it FALL Yet?
Today is technically the last day of Summer, and tomorrow is the first day of Fall. For those of us in Southern California, that means (hopefully) a slight drop in temperature. From the 100’s to the low 80’s. With luck, it might even dip down into the high 70’s. For us, that is cool. And after an extremely hot, muggy, and expensive (electric bill for air conditioning!) Summer, it’s truly a welcome relief. 
Fall for us also means that we can put away the tank tops and break out the short sleeved t-shirts on those mid-70’s “chilly” days. 
Unlike most people who live back east, we won’t have the pleasure of watching the leaves on the trees turn pretty autumn shades. No, for us, everything is super-duper dry and crisp after a scorching summer – perfect tinder for brush fires, which we usually get our share of every fall. Hopefully, by December, we’ll get a glimpse of winter – with lots of rain and long sleeved t-shirts! :P
So, is it Fall for you yet in your part of the country? If so, where do you live and what is your Fall like?
It’s getting here. The leaves haven’t quite changed, but the temps are dropping down into the 40’s at night…brrrr!
I want spring. Fall is pretty, don’t get me wrong, but fall leads to winter and snow and cold and….brrrr! LOL

I grew up in Southern Ohio and my mom moved to Tucson, AZ after I graduated high school. I stayed behind to go to college and the first time I visited her was during Christmas break. The temps were in the 70’s and all the “locals” were wearing sweatshirts. I was in t-shirts and shorts and spent most of my days at the pool while Mom was working. They thought I was crazy but compared to what I had left, 30 degrees in the day if I was lucky, 70 was a heat wave. 8)
I lived in Tucson for 6 years and became one of the “locals” in sweatshirts if it dropped below 75. Now I’m in NC, a great in-between of the two, and the weather is absolutely beautiful. Right now its 45 and there is steam coming off the lake in front of my house. It’s supposed to be 75 today and sunny. What I would consider a perfect day.
Janelle, I completely understand the dry, crispy, can’t-wait-for-winter-rains and I hope you get some relief soon. Hope everyone else has a beautiful last day of summer as well.

In NJ, it’s getting chilly at night and we’re waiting for the leaves to turn. I’m going to Maine this weekend where temperatures should be brisk in the morning but warmer in the day. The best part is that the leaves should have started to change color.

NC! It’s already doing the mid 70’s thing here, heading straight for capri’s and t-shirts! I love Fall the best, not too hot or cold.

Here in NY it’s in the 40’s at nite, sunny -or rainy- during the day. The leaves are changing colors daily. And best of all- it’s apple picking season!! Winter may be coming, but at the end of it, spring rolls around again. I don’t worry about fire season, or hurricane season, or tornado season. Only pot hole season when the snow melts. I love all 4 seasons, so except for idiot drivers who still don’t know how to drive in it, I don’t complain much. And I love it when there is a storm and I get to stay home and just curl up and read all day.
On the other hand, we have a daushaund that came up from the rescue group in SC, and she has never seen snow!! This winter should be interesting for her. Our lab :doggie: loves it.

I’m in Tampa, it’s usually hot and muggy. This morning I woke to nice cool temperature 69 degrees!! yeah!!!!!!
My 5 year old son even asked for a sweatshirt to wear. I know it propably won’t happen again at least for a couple of weeks, but it was a nice surprise this morning.

Here in Kentucky, it was 38 degrees when I drove to work. I woul much rather live where it never goes below the 60s.

I’m in Orlando and it was in the high 60s this morning! It felt so nice. Of course, by midday it will be 88 degrees. But it was nice to have that glimpse of fall, even for a few minutes.

Here in the NW, it’s rainy, but a nice cool. Usually, we have an Indian Summer, but fall seems to have come earlier this year. I just want to have my painters finish my house before fall! They keep telling my son at preschool that it is summer, but if it was summer, wouldn’t he not be in school? LOL. He’s a little confused by it all. Just call it fall and a day.

I can’t imagine what it is like at Christmas time without having a little snow on the ground. Do those of you who celebrate Christmas in the warmer areas buy Christmas trees or do you decorate the palm trees??? 
I am North of Boston the (North Shore) to be more precise. The leaves have started to change color but we aren’t in full swing yet. Last night was the first night it got down into the 60’s. The last few days have been unseasonably warm hitting the mid 70’s. And I HATE the heat….I know most people love it. But I love living in New England and the seasons here. But my favorite season is Winter…bring on the snow and the fires in the fireplace with hot chocolate in hand. That is when I am in my glory.

I’m actually loving my first true fall in many many years! Sunny, breezy and beautiful during the day in the low 70’s, went down into the high 40’s last night, which should definitely have the trees changing into their autumn wardrobes soon.
We went to the local county fair last night and I just loved wearing jeans and a sweater, being outside in the cool airl, with the smells of Italian sausages, cotton candy and funnel cakes everywhere you turned (had some of each!) Bright lights of the midway lighting up the night, roars from the demolition derby (which my nephew drove in.) Fair Day was always a big fall “moment” growing up here–a day off school and a big family event. I was really happy to be able to introduce my girls to it last night even if I am still feeling a little dizzy from all the rides!

The leaves are showing gold on some trees. Fog is almost a nightly occurence as fall rains help to put out the fires around the state. The days are cool (50s) and the nights dip into chilly (low 40s). It’s perfect weather after a long, hot summer.

Another Tampa resident, transplanted from NY, and I still can’t get used to Christmas in FL! Palm trees next to Santa?!
Good weather for sleeping right now with high 60’s at night. My brood gets a kick out of the folks who bundle up when the temps fall below 75 during the day. Heavens forbid, when it gets below 65, I’ve seen long wool coats, boots, thick scarves, and ear muffs, while we’re still walking around in light jackets. Perhaps my blood will thin eventually…

Fall is in swing here, in Alberta, Canada……..the leaves are changing, our nights are in the 35F range, and last weekend we had a skiff of snow, it didn’t last but it was still there………:cry: This was way too early for me, I want an nice long Indian Summer…………

When I lived in Arizona we would turn the air conditioning down as low as it would go and then light a fire in the fireplace!
One year it did actually snow a little bit on Christmas morning. Of course, it was gone 15 minutes later but it was the first time my son had ever seen snow (he was 3) and it was so much fun to watch him.

Well, in my neck of the woods, yes, I live in the woods, Midwest, it has been 49 degrees at night. I love snuggling up under my covers at night to get all toasty warm.
The leaves haven’t started turning yet. There are some leaves that have started falling off the trees though. We had a pretty big storm here a week ago. Trees came down all over the place. We didn’t get any damage in our neighborhood but north of our house close to Lake Michigan they had a lot of damage!
I like to see the seasons change. Love the snow at Christmas:thumbsup2: I went to Florida one Christmas and it didn’t seem like Christmas at all to me with the warm weather and sunshine.

I went to Disney World one year right after Christmas to celebrate New Years with 17 of my family members. It got really cold at night on New Years Eve and even us North Easterners were looking for the sweatshirts.
But, I have always wondered about the people who live down South and how they celebrate Christmas. Thanks to all who have answered that question for me. :mrgreen:

Fall in Tennessee means that we can have lows in the 30’s and highs in the 70’s to low 80’s. I love to go into East Tennessee to see the leaves change colors. They don’t change as early in the rest of the state. As for Christmas, although we don’t always have snow(like 10 times in my entire life), it’s still really cold and feels like Christmas.

Hi Janelle, Happy last day of summer. I am so ready for fall, my favorite time of year. I live in northern California in Wine Country about 75 miles north of San Francisco. We have been having some fall like weather but still warm during the day & some days hot! This morning I woke up to windy & warm which made me think of the Santa Ana winds you have down south! Today is warm & promising to get to the high 80’s or maybe even 90. Some of the trees here are turning color & although we don’t have the fall that they do back east there is a lot of vegetation that changes color & it is beautiful. Even the vineyards change & the leaves can be yellow to a dark almost burgundy red. I’ve tried to take some pictures but I don’t have much talent!! The grapes are also being picked which means crush & good smells in the air–fall, yum!

I live in Michigan, and brrrr I tell ya. It is 63 degrees at 4:42 pm. Still not ready for the colder air yet! The leaves are changing colour and we are getting a touch of frost in the mornings.

I have been enjoying the descriptions of everyone’s Fall. Makes me laugh when I just realized I had to turn ON the heat (it’s a little chilly today).

It’s getting cooler down here on the Mississippi gulf coast. Not as much humidity. Last week when I was up in Georgia (near Atanta where I’m from and where my family lives) it was cold enough in the mornings and at night for long sleeves (which I hadn’t had the sense to pack!) so it was a welcome relief to come back home!

Kelly- I agree with you. Summer is my least favorite season. I don’t even mind shoveling the snow.but I hate the heat!!
I spent my honeymoon in TN one October. It was great! That is one state I would be willing to move to, I fell in love with Chatanooga.

I live in Grand Rapids, MI. We have our nights in the low 50’s. The high for the days is the upper 50’s, lower 60’s. It is nice compared to the 90 degree weather we had in late August, Early September. It defienetly tends to rain a lot lately, which means our trees will have beautiful colors when it comes time for them to turn.

I’m in West Central Florida….so we are not really experiencing any fall-like weather. We are still at 90 degrees. We have a little less humidity, finally!!!!
