Hi all!
I am not totally back online–still spending a lot of time in bed or in a reclining position…kinda hurts to sit up straight. But I am online enough to stop in and say hello and thanks for all the well wishes.
Surgery went fine. It ended up being a little more than I had originally bargained for when my doctor broached the topic a month ago, and to be honest I’m very surprised they didn’t keep me overnight. I definitely got a close-up view of the medical system that I did not like. Literally was cut open and had internal organs taken out starting promptly at 7:30 a.m. At noon, I was put in a wheelchair with a small container in my hand to vomit into as they wheeled me to the car, and made full use of it. (One thing to make abdominal surgery more miserable? Throwing up right after you have it.) But the insurance company says my procedure is an outpatient one and heaven forbid an outpatient stay in the hospital for 8 hours because then it’s billed differently or some such. (I arrived at 5:30 am, btw.)
I’m self employed, so I have private insurance for which I pay a ridiculous amount of money and which has an equally ridiculous deductible, which just adds a little insult to the injury. The whole health care situation in this country is freaking ridiculous and I hope to heaven I don’t have to engage with it again anytime soon!
Anyway, I’m much better, feeling stronger every day and I’ve had a ton of pampering from my wonderful husband. I’ll have a couple of weeks before I’m back at 100% but I know I’ll get there.
Speaking of my wonderful husband, he tells me he has only heard from about half of the winners of last Tuesday’s giveaway of WAKING UP TO YOU. Here’s the winner’s list again…remember, write to brucedkelly@ gmail . com to claim your prize.

Glad you are on the mend, Leslie. Rest is your friend right now. Knew Bruce would be taking amazing care of you.
The medical system does really suck right now and doesn’t look like it will get any better soon. My deductible is super high too and I only go to the doctor now for well-care visits that are covered in full unless I feel like total crap. Will have at least $100 doctor’s bill from office visit for last week.
Feel better!!! One day at a time til you’re 100%
I did email Bruce last week. thanks again!!

glad to hear that you are on the mend. I totally agree with you about our healthcare system. I hope with each day you get better and that you’ll be on your feet soon.
Happy you are feeling better. I am an RN and totally agree with you our health care systems sucks…insurances companies have taken over care which is ridiculous. If anyone declines I would be glad to review your new book. Love your books.
My MIL had her gallbladder removed [by those 3 little incisions]. Went in at 6am and we had her home in her recliner [which wasn't reclining] by noon.
Glad you’re feeling better.
So happy to hear that you’re feeling better. I totally agree with you about insurance companies. When it comes down to it they dictate your treatment not your doctor! It’s downright crazy!
You’re in my thoughts and prayers, Leslie. Get well soon.
I am so happy to hear you are on the mend. Sending you good thoughts and a prayer for a speedy recovery.
I know what you mean about the healthcare industry.
I had a surgery a couple of years ago lost a lot of blood nearly needed a transfusion but i got sent home like you. It took me a couple of months before I finally started to get my strength back.
Hint- chocolate Boost with protein is good to sip between meals and staying hydrated helped.
Get Well Wishes!!!!!

I hope you get better soon! Hugs and love to you
Glad to hear you are home and will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
I totally agree with you about the healthcare system and did have an outrageous insurance, too. Just became eligible for medicare – which scares me even more!
Hi Leslie,
I’m so happy you are recovering nicely from your surgery. :flowers4you: It is amazing how quickly one goes home nowdays. When I had my appendix out a very, very, very long time ago I was kept in the hospital for 7 days & off work for 6 weeks. No complaints at all from insurance or job. Not to sure that would happen now. I had no complications either!!
Take care, I’m sure Bruce is making sure you behave!! Keep us posted.
Leslie,
So glad you made it thru the surgery. I don’t understand how someone can sit at a desk and decide how long you can stay in the hospital…take it easy and dont’ push yourself too much and enjoy your naps…lol

Glad you are getting better, even if it is slowly. I should have sent you the elastic band that they gave me after mine. Made a big difference in being able to move without major pain, even if they did take it out my belly button!
Bruce is such a sweetheart. I think you might have won the husband lottery too!!
Hi Leslie,
Glad to see you back here. I did email your husband, Glad he is pampering you and so glad your surgery went well. Really looking forward to getting your book.
Glad you are feeling better. Rest & recover. I agree with you about the whole health care situation.
Wishing you a speedy recovery! As for the medical system and private insurance, I totally agree.
:yourock Take care and don’t get in a hurry. With that kind of surgery you don’t want to do to much to soon. So be good and let you husbend do for you. You sure don’t want to go back to the hospital. So please take care.
Leslie, so glad you are on the mend… Prayer for your continued recovery… :yourock
Hope you get well soon!
Hoping you feel better soon. Our healthcare system leaves alot to be desired. Healh insurance is highway robbery; with the monthly payments, copays, etc. & it goes up every year. I have not understood over the years, why our insurance companies get to dictate how long hospital stays are. Please take your recovery slowly. Baby steps. Do not overdo it because you’ll be kicking yourself later.
Get well soon.
I think whoever thought it was a good idea to let the insurance companies decide what kind of medical care we should have should be taken out back and shot. :angryred: Since when did they get smarter than the Drs?!
That out-patient business sucks. I’ve done it twice, and the first time was okay. But the second time (gall bladder) was horrendous. I had a terrible reaction to the anesthesia. Miserable. Sucked. Thank heavens my hubby is a wonderful nurse. I hope you are feeling better. Make sure you take your time, and don’t rush back into anything too soon.
Thanks for the reminder of the book! I’m looking forward to reading it.
I hope you feel 100% really soon. Sounds like you have a wonderful husband to take care of you
So glad you’re doing well, Leslie! :flowers4you:
You’re so right! It’s ridiculous that the USA has such a terrible healthcare system and, without getting into anything political, our government, current and past, should be ashamed. I hope and pray that you don’t have to endure any other medical procedures and that our healthcare system gets a major overhaul. (We won’t hold our breath.)
Many blessings!!
Excellent website. Plenty of helpful information here. I’m sending it to several friends ans also sharing in delicious. And of course, thanks in your effort!
