Retail Therapy

I’m not a big shopper. By that, I mean that I hate shopping. I don’t like crowds. I don’t like endless searching for things I may or may not want or need. I’m more of an opportunistic shopper–if I NEED it, I will buy it. If I want it, I may buy it…but if I don’t immediately use it, I may return it.

I did this recently with a speaker system for my iPhone/iPod. There was a great sale on them at Target and I bought one. It sat in a bag for a month…so back to the store it went.

I much prefer to shop online, particularly at Amazon, where I have free 2-day shipping because of Amazon Prime. (Which also allows me to borrow books, which is VERY nice, because with this borrow, the author still gets a royalty.) I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon…not just books. Last night, I found something I needed for my daughter’s Easter basket, but it was at a site I don’t shop at. I checked Amazon and not only was it available sooner, it was a better price and free shipping. Win! I use up every penny of the $79 membership fee in shipping alone!

One of my other favorite sites to shop is Think Geek. If you are at all geeky and like things like Star Wars, Star Trek and Dr. Who, then this is the site for you! They have very clever gifts, amazingly awesome customer service and great sales.

What about you? Do you like to shop in person or online? And which ones are your go-to places to shop?

I much prefer to shop online. I was a mall rat when I was a pre-teen, but I’d gladly never go in one again. Amazon is the first place I look to get a baseline price. I use several sites like to get promo codes for discounts, rebates and free shipping.

Am also an Amazon Prime member and feel the same way as you. I always shop Amazon first because of the shipping. Love the Lending Library but find it frustrating at times. Why only one book every 30 days? I usually read a book a day. I’m glad to hear the author gets a royalty tho!

I love my Amazon Prime membership. I’m pretty sure I pay for it in the free shipping for Christmas gifts and work alone. I’ve never borrowed a book from them before, but will have to fix that soon. I love their streaming option for tv and movies lots too. I originally signed up so I could get my kindle delivered to me on the release date.

I much prefer online shopping to going to actual stores. Amazon is the first place I go to check prices and then I shop around from there.

I love shopping online, also, because I am able to save time. I also do the prime and my husband laughed at me, but what’s particularly useful is when I’m buying Christmas presents. I have several people on my world who don’t get their lists to me until mid-December, which is too late for me (I like to be done at thanksgiving because the season is stressful enough). So, I point, click, wrap (because I’m not paying for shipping with prime) and ship. Poof, it’s done.

My favorites are amazon (they sell everything), thriftbooks (for out of print books; they are having a sale now through 2/17 promo code LUVBooks) and junonia (for clothes–look or ask for a promo code (they are expensive but only place I can find jeans). or With the price of gas I rarely shop in person and with everything closing or downsizing in terms of styles or sizes.

I shop both. I enjoy going out to the stores with my daughter as it gives us some girl time. I don’t do alot of online shopping but when I do it’s usually Amazon.

Sometimes it is fun to shop. :D What is not fun is trying to find something I need but no one seems to have it!! I shop both brick & mortar stores & online. Since Border’s closed I shop Amazon more for books if I can’t get it at Target. I’m not a lover of Wal Mart but do go there sometimes because they do carry books & a couple of other things that I use there. One reason I shop in person is because I need to really visually see the product especially clothes. That said I buy a lot at L.L. Bean & Lands End on line. I know what fits, I often buy the same shirt in different colors, they have great return policies & customer service is always helpful. Shopping on line is great, no lines, no parking issues, no rude people that seem to think they are more special than the rest of us!!!! Good subject matter today. Thanks Julie. :mickey:

Oh yea, my younger grandson sends me the links to his gift suggestions in his emails. Those links take me right to Amazon & the product he likes!! I love it & him for making it so easy. He will be 17 on Saturday. How time flies!!

Depends on my mood. But I do more online shopping than I use to. Amazon is my favorite especially since we have prime. You can’t beat it. Great prices and you don’t have to leave the house!

I recently bought baby shower gifts from Think Geek. A red Star Trek Onesie and a Star Trek bib that lights up with an Enterprise spoon. Two other people bought the same onesie and another one the spoon/bib. Guess there are a bunch of us who shop there!

I love my Amazon Prime. It pays for itself at Christmas.

I also do shopping through USAA when not on Amazon and try to use Ebates too.

My biggest failing lately tho has been Teefury. com and They have a different t-shirt everyday, cheap, for 24 hours. it’s killing me.

I like to shop in a store. I like to touch the fabrics or what ever it is I am buying… And I like to try on shoes, I am not one for buying items that don’t fit. I am not an average size, so buying on line is not for me. I like to go to Kitchen stores and look at all the gadgets, but i will buy some of these on line too. I will buy books and music on line, but I still like to go into a bookstore to browse and get a first hand looks at my fav books…

LOVE AMAZON PRIME! Best thing ever. I can shop on my phone or kindle fire. Love the lending library. I also borrow ebooks from public library. Gift cards to amazon are almost better than chocolate. I said almost……..

Between Amazon Prime,Facebook and my voracious love of reading, yes Amazon has become my new best friend. I rarely take things back and I love to shop, well, with ample amounts of money and time ,that is..I know Amazon drives some of you authors crazy but in defense,I buy more books since I got my Prime membership and my Kindle so, be patient with them.
