Wrapper Or Bagger?

Posted by at Dec 18, 2012 6:00 am

Well, I’m all finished with my holiday shopping and have begun my “this one got more than that one so I have to take this back” which I do every year. Hee hee. (FWIW: Bruce also makes fun of me about this every year!)

The one thing I haven’t started yet is wrapping. I am like a big kid on Christmas morning and I love to see the paper flying. For that reason, I wrap every single gift, right down to the tube of toothpaste and hair clips in the stocking. I can’t ever remember using a gift bag for Christmas…I’m a wrapper all the way.

What about you–wrapper or bagger? And are you finished your shopping?

And did you, like me, do 90% of your shopping online this year?

I wrap most gifts, but use a few gift bags too. None of the jar candles I bought came with boxes, so bags it is. I do wrap the candles in tissue paper before putting in the bags first. I have 1 gift left to wrap. I got some of my gifts online, but most I picked up in local stores. I did all my aunt’s shopping for her online. I ordered all the books and movies she gives to her family from Amazon and had them shipped to her directly. I also did all of my day’s shopping. My brother helped with the wrapping this year, so first year I didn’t have to wrap all the gifts myself.

If i can get away with it these days i like gift bags. If not it gets wrapped. I guess i don’t like to wrap stuff the way i used to. I go for what’s easy. I have not begun the comparing things yet or wrapping. I need to get one that soon. lol

Most of my shopping is done. Gift bags for the older kids. The little ones get their gifts wrapped. Well…. anything that is easy to wrap gets wrapping paper.

I still haven’t wrapped a single present….. I have a very busy weekend and I work until 5 on Christmas eve…. so I basically have between now and Friday and Sunday to get it done.

For the first time ever I did all of my shopping online and during Black Friday weekend, so I was done early. And let me tell you, this has been so odd not having to shop at the last minute. Hmm.

I am like you, in the fact that I love to wrap everything. I have always been that way. I love the anticipation of seeing everyone work so hard and then the joy when they see their gift. (As a kid I even wrapped a bag of potato chips that my grandfather loved, but wasn’t carried in the stores where he lived.)

However, I have always been neat with unwrapping my presents. I like to save unique paper, or stick bows on everyone’s heads. I try my hardest not to damage the wrapping.

    Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

I did all of my shopping online, except for the food items I bought at Costco for my great auntie and the Barnes and noble gift cards (I couldn’t bring myself to pay the extra fee, plus I got to check out books and find some fun ones for my tweenager who is hard to find books for). I have amazon prime and I just ordered and its there in two days (I only have them wrap if its a “relative draw” and I won’t see them). Sweet. I’m a wrapper, only because I couldn’t find at Costco their package of bags. The bags I did use, take me as long because I make them all fluffy and pretty.

:santabag: Guess I’m old fashioned, I still like to wrap things. One of our family traditions as a kid was to double wrap or switch the box or nestle it inside. So, you can never believe what the first box says. Or to wrap like many presents over and over, where you finally make it down to something small, so you can never guess what it is by the size. :lights:

:happychan: This year I wrapped as I had the time. Come to think of it, most years I wrap. I am all done! YAY! :cheer: I shopped online for only 1 of my 4 children. Not that I didn’t do a lot of online looking.

I’ve been done with my shopping for a while. I wrap things that are in boxes but something’s are just easier to bag.

I don’t have any youngsters in the family so everything is in gift bags. However, I still wrap in tissue paper before putting in the bags!!

I went Black Friday and got most everything. I did some online shopping.
I like to wrap but for odd shaped gifts I stick it in a bag. :santabag:

I do mostly gift cards with free shipping and a few things online with a few things for me at the same time.

No online shopping at all! And wrapping is done, not a bagger this year. A few years ago when I was feeling very blue and under pressure, I went all bagger; but I didn’tlike that either so I’m back to wrapping!

I am a bagger all the way. My perfectionist tendencies gets in the way of my being able to wrap presents. I find I do three times as much work because things don’t line up or the edges aren’t straight…crazy, I know…lol! But, I can bag with the best of them.

Um…I haven’t bought any Christmas gifts this year. Bad, I know, but I just can’t swing it financially. One year without a gift from me, wont be so bad. I always buy gifts. Happy wrapping and bagging everyone.

    Peace and love,

:decor: I am both but most of them are wrapped. I did some of mine out of a catalog but most was done going from store to store. :elf:

    Diane Sallans says:

I do both. Clothing usually gets put in a box & wrapped. Things that are alread y in a box get wrapped, unless it’s really huge – then I use one of the oversized gft bags I reuse from year to year. Oddly shaped thing usually get a bag. Oddly shaped things that are easy to distinguish (like a tennis racket) get disguised – maybe in a box or a partial box to change their shape.

Mostly all presents are wrapped. The ones I take to work are usually in bags. I did a little more online shopping this year but I am a glutton for punishment and braved the crowds so I could enjoy the sights and sounds of the season.

:decor: I’m a wrapper! I love the paper too! I do most of my shopping in person. It’s easier to tell is my girls will like it. Being teenagers they are very picky!

I do both wrapping and bagging. I finished that up today. All I have left it a couple of kitty gifts for sister’s cat. My sister is single and her child is her cat, so it gets tuna.

    Donna M says:

I both wrap & bag, it depends on what the gift is. My two younger grandkids live in another state so theirs have to be in a box & have to be wrapped. Unless you order online & have it shipped directly. Then I send my daughter an email begging her to wrap it for me when it arrives!! Depending on what those two have on their list it is just so easy to order & have it shipped directly to them! I still have two people to buy a gift for but they are both easy & I will wrap or bag accordingly. They don’t really care that much which it is!! :lights:

Everything under our tree at home is wrapped. Things that go to the office are usually bagged. I do have two friends who get bagged gifts because the bag doubles as a gift for their cats. I take special care in picking the right pet friendly bag. :wreath:

I have done a lot of online shopping, but not all. It is important to support the local economy and so we purchase many gifts from bazaars and the Saturday Market here in town.

I wrapped the little kids stuff, which they opened this weekend in celebration of Chrismaka. Or Hanamus. Or both, since I buy presents for both. They are spoiled. Everyone else gets a bag. And right now, I am leaving in 48 hours or so and haven’t even gotten close to finishing.Or packing.

We have done both online and in store shopping. Mostly amazon since we have Prime and it arrives in 2 days. I wrap most things but have to bag weird shaped gifts. Hubby is a :bigtree: better wrapper than me, he worked in JCPenney gift wrap one year for Christmas. His wrapping is so awesome, little use of tape and I let him wrap things that I can’t. His gifts always look better. :elf:

Well, I do it both ways, depending on hard the present is to wrap. Store shopper all the way.
