YES I DID – I got a Mini-Me & Share the Love Contest!

Posted by at Dec 13, 2012 6:00 am

Why oh why did I need an iPad Mini? If you think no one is asking themselves this question, I promise you that YES, one person is. Janelle … I’m waving! LOL. Not because I’m an Apple addict although I am. Not because I had this need to spend unnecessary money. I didn’t. (And I will sell my old one so it’s not like I’m duplicating). But the reason is this – portability and useability. I loved my Kindle, but the day I got my iPad and saw all those pretty bookcovers staring at me from my Kindle App was one of the best days of this reader’s life. (Yes, my life must be THAT lacking, LOL!). But it weighed down my bag, which hurt my shoulder, which is a weak spot from the writing, and it became a vicious cycle. Not to mention how much I hated typing on the big ipad. The separate keyboards sold for it don’t makeup for not having a mouse. So I read on it … but it was a very expensive e-Reader. And then came THE ANNOUNCEMENT. An iPad mini … really? Seriously? BE STILL MY HEART!

Yes, I ordered the day it went on sale. Yes, I bought the fancy one w/the 4G – because I remember how much I hated my Color Nook with wi-fi only and returned it. This thing is AWESOME. It’s so light I barely know I’m carrying it. And with the new way Apple links your messages – texts to your phone, IM’s, all show up in the same place – I don’t miss out on anyone in the family looking for me. Expensive? Yes. Indulgent? Yes. Worth it if you can swing it? I can only speak for myself. ABSOLUTELY!

Do you have a gadget you can’t live without? That makes you happy just by virtue of being?
PS – Yes, Janelle, I live to amuse! xoxo

I’d love to get the mini, but just can’t swing it right now. I finally upgraded to the Kindle Fire HD when it came out and really love it. I just got the iPad 2 when they announced the iPad 3, so haven’t had it even for a year. I have to agree I love being able to see all the pretty covers on my fire and iPad when I’m reading. The weight of the iPad is an issue, but will needs new iPhone probably next year,so it will trump the mini.

Carly, is the keyboard on the mini easier to type on than on the regular iPad?

Lol this post was just too cute. I can’t live without my phone. I use it as my ereader, alarm clock, obviously the phone… And it’s indulgent (but my plan is a gift) to have data, but it’s literally saved me numerous times when I got lost. It’s the way a navigate when I have to go to new places.
AND it keeps me from being bored, which might be the most dangerous thing of all. ;-)

I would say any book whether in paper form, my Nook or my Android tablet is what I enjoy to have.

As for getting yourself the Mini….everyone deserves to treat themselves to something nice every once in a while.

I actually thought about the mini, until I saw the price!! I’m playing around with what I do want. The ASUS tablet gets reviews equal to the iPad, some can’t even choose one over the other- and it’s expandable, which I really do like.

thinking about selling my Nook Color Tablet and my basic Nook. Keeping my Nook with the light and Kindle Fire.

No, I don’t like gadgets at all.

I bought a Kindle Fire earlier this year when they had them on Amazon refurbished for $139. Ran down with my big jar of change to the grocery store to use the coin star machine and got a Amazon gift cert to use to buy it. I had $126 so i paid very little after that to get it. lol LOVE it. I like looking at the pretty book covers on it too Carly! I can read take a break and check Facebook and twitter and email and then back to reading all while watching TV. I saw the Ipad mini’s in Walmart. They look light weight and a good handling size. If your going to have a gadget you might as well have one you really enjoy! If you sell the your old Ipad even better!

At the moment there is no gadget that I can think I have to have unless you want to count my car!! But, that is hardly a gadget!! I really want a Kindle HD Fire or the Nexus 7. Maybe I’ll be able to swing it after the first of the year.

Thanks for the link to Susan Mallery’s giveaway. I’ll go there now!!

    :Han1: Just for you Carly.

Yup, I broke down and bought a mini, too! LOVE my original iPad but it is just too heavy. I have trouble with my hands and really loved the idea of the mini. Hubs thinks I’m nuts but what the heck. Mine should be here next week and I’m thrilled. And hubs has dibs on the old one. Glad to hear it is lighter because I don’t carry my iPad around for the same reasons you said. Well, I’m not a writer but geez, it gets heavy! So I’m gonna enjoy my iPad mini. Happy holidays everyone!

Carly, Carly color me surprised….lol! I knew you would get it…haha! I am glad you are loving it. I still have my iPad with no real desire to get the mini. I read on mine, play my games and get all my notifications on it. I am not sure there is a gadget I own that I couldn’t live without. If I didn’t have the iPad, I think my life would still be ok.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

I wish I could afford any of the i-pads – but not going to happen anytime soon. Even an iphone, but my carrier doesn’t support it. I really wish cell phone companies wouldn’t charge so much. We have a family plan with 5 lines – 4 with data plans & it’s under 150, but still. I don’t think I could live without my laptop & my cell phone. Being mom I must be available 24/7 :( . Already entered even though I already own all 3 books!! LOL! :Han1:

My husband can’t live without his iPad 2. When he was doing radiation last year, we got him the iPad 2 with the 3G, so he could use it while we were driving back and forth, waiting for treatments, where ever we ended up being/sitting/staying he would have something to do.

That thing is like an additional appendage! He rarely ever leaves the house without it, and the 3G thing was so handly last year during a hurricane when we lost power and internet. I could look at radar on there, go to FB and see what the local news channels were posting. It really is wonderful for him, the best thing we EVER got him.

    Enjoy your mini!!!
