CRAZY Black Friday Deals!

Posted by at Nov 26, 2012 6:00 am

So, I have to ask . . . how many of you were crazy enough (ahem, I meant BRAVE enough, LOL!) to be a part of the Black Thursday/Friday rush for deals?  Who waited hours for a store to open for that one special item at a steep discount?  Who just wanted to be a part of the frenzy?

Me?  I’ve NEVER done the Black Friday thing – – at least not physically going to a store during that crush/rush of people!  I just can’t handle the crowds and get WAY to irritated by stupid people doing stupid things to get the things that they want.  So, I stay home.  But this year, I did join the Black Thursday/Friday shopping sprees – – online!  And wow, did I score some incredible deals!  Instead of heading to Kohl’s and running around like a crazy person trying to buy the things I wanted . . . I went to their website and snagged some phenomenal gifts at prices that really made me feel like I was STEALING.  LOL!

Online, Kohl’s were offering some “blow-out” deals for the first hour, and that’s where I scored.  Retail priced everything I bought would have cost me $432.00.  By the time I checked out with these give-away prices, AND used an online coupon code for an additional 20% off all my purchases, I only paid . . . $107.00.    Oh, and that’s not all.  Kohl’s was also offering a $15.00 coupon for every $50 you spent, so I was sent a $30.00 gift certificate ON TOP OF ALL THAT, to spend this coming week at the store.  So, really, everything only cost me $77.00!!!  Really!?!  Kohl’s slogan is that you “get paid to shop”, and I definitely felt like they paid ME to buy some of the things I did.

Here’s some of the amazing things I scored.  I bought two finer jewelry bracelets, normally priced at $80/ea, and I got them for $12/ea.  I bought two fleece blankets I needed, normally priced at $40/ea, for $8/ea!   I needed a new pair of Deerfoam slippers, normally $30, and only paid $7.  I bought 5 adorable outfits for my new niece, normally $24/ea, and I only paid $7/ea!  I bought some toys to giveaway to Toys for Tots, too.   I still can’t believe how much I saved!!!

But wait, that’s not all!  I used “Ebates.com” and they were offering an additional 10% cash back on any Kohl’s purchases, so that gave me an additional $10 cash back!  Just as an FYI, if you do a lot of online shopping, you should consider signing up at eBates — you honest to goodness get rebates back on your purchases . . . you can sign up here:  EBATES

So, who did the Black Thursday/Friday shopping thing?  What kind of deals did you snag?  And what about today, Cyber Monday — any good deals to be had, today?

I had tweeted Thursday night I was making my list to shop at Target for Friday morning, and Target sent me a free $25 gift card. I was able to get everything in my list plus the first 2 seasons of Downton Abbey with my gift card for me. Also won a $100 gift card from Best Buy for tweeting, so I really did get paid to shop on Friday.

Usually out on Black Friday shopping with my sister, but her family went away for Thanksgiving this year, so only went to Target.

It is too funny that you mentioned ebates. I just joined their website on Thursday after talking to my cousin’s friends at Thanksgiving dinner. Being a 24/7 caregiver meansI don’t get out much, so most of the time I shop online.

I used to do Black Friday, not just for the deals but to people-watch because they are hilarious. :rotfl1:

This year I had grandfather duty all weekend, so I shopped online. I got the WalMart computer bundle for Mom: a laptop, a printer, a carrying case (that came with a mouse, and a lock) and 3-8 GB memory sticks for less than $400 (plus I will get the Ebates %.) It will be her very first laptop! I joined Shutterfly for the first time and made 15 Christmas Cards to be sent out from the dogs, and 1 Calendar the dogs will give Mom. That all cost me less than $20, with 12 of that be shipping. This morning I purchased, for my grandfather to give to me, a Shark steam mop, normally around $150, but I paid $34 (then I will get the Ebates %.) Those were my big finds, but I picked up some smaller items too.

    Congrats on your shopping!!! :yourock

I’ll have to check out ebates. I do most of my online shopping thru my credit card company (USAA) and get points on my card, which is what I use to pay. Saving up for a trip!
I wasn’t awake by midnight to check out Kohl’s, which I love, but did get stuff thursday online- The Spawn was going to go to Target to get the PlayStation that was on sale, but Best Buy had it on Thursday online, so she did that. I got stuff from Bath and Body works.
Didn’t hit the stores until late morning and had no lines, except in Penney’s. I didn’t have a lot of time but did find myself 2 purses.
Target, I found a parking space right up front and had very little wait time in line.
i hate the crowds and I hate the idiots in those crowds more.

I did some shopping online, but mostly for me! I will leave out some stuff for Santa to stuff my stocking with for myself and my husband from Bath and Body works. Yeah, and I got some flannel jammies from VS. Oh, and some other stuff :hide:

Kohls always has the best deals (the kohls cash and then sale upon sale). I told my sil about it (she’s shopping for a Keurig for my mil), but she thought it was too much work.

If anyone hears about an XBOX with kinect. I don’t NEED one, but it would be super fun to surprise the boys with one and the Disneyland game (yes, we are Disney people, you know). Today, with Oldest who is home sick, I am ordering stuff for Christmas (amazon). Love prime shipping.

Oh, and I ordered all three of Janelle’s books (read them before, but thought at 99 cents, what the heck).

Kohl’s always does have crazy sales. I don’t know how they stay in business. I printed out my $30.00 cash back from Kohl’s and I’m going shopping in store today to see what I can find! I love it.

And thank you for picking up my Wildes!

I do not do Black Friday. I hate shoving, rude crowds. Just not my thing. I will or could shop online but did not. Oh, wait I think I ordered some books from Amazon!! It wasn’t Christmas shopping, just books I wanted that they did not have when I was at Target before Thanksgiving. Kohl’s is not a store I shop at much. I am in there maybe twice a year! Lucky we have lots of choices.

I will have to check into ebates. My income is limited so I shop when I can! Hopefully I will be in the market soon for a new computer or tablet. Probably not until after the first of the year. My computer tech friend is going to help me figure out what I should look for or consider buying.

Janelle, glad you had such a great shopping spree. I’m sure it was fun. I love shopping on line before I even bother to get dressed!!! No parking hassle, no crowds! It is the best. :D 8)

Through Best Buy if you are a Silver Premiere member you could start buying certain deals the Monday before Thanksgiving on-line. One of them just happened to be the 55 inch TV hubby and I were buying each other as our Christmas gift. On top of that, it was $100 cheaper than we have ever seen it and free delivery and set up. It it suppose to be delivered within the next 2 hours! :cheer:

    You did excellent, girl!

I havent done Black Fri or Day after Christmas in years. Am older now and have no patience for the crowds.

I looked around online and nothing grabbed me other than the nook simple touch and even that could have been cheaper. I bought some of the accessories too.

Like many of you I avoid Black Friday because of the crowds. However, I did hit JoAnn Fabrics to get an $80 sewing machine case for $30 and a $110 Ott light for $20. The store I went to was not that crowded. I also did some online shopping at Amazon & Etsy. I was using my daughter’s wish list for her birthday & scored some nice things for her. I’m not that savvy with online deals or shopping but might have to check out the Ebates site. I’m amazed at the deals some of you found.

I think everything published made a bunch of sense. However, what
about this? what if you composed a catchier title?
I ain’t suggesting your content is not good., but suppose you added a post title that grabbed a person’s attention?
I mean CRAZY Black Friday Deals! | Plot Monkeys is kinda
plain. You ought to peek at Yahoo’s front page and see how they create news headlines to get viewers to open the links. You might add a related video or a pic or two to get readers excited about what you’ve written.
In my opinion, it might bring your posts a little livelier.
