THE IPHONE 5 is HERE! Knowing it was coming, I almost asked Julie to switch days with me this week. Why? Because of Apple’s Big September 12 announcement, of course! But I refrained, instead waiting until the day after to SQUEE! So before you ask, YES I’m getting it. I have the iPhone 4, not the 4S. My camera is awful and it’s the only camera I have on me. So I NEED the better camera for pictures I post and want to keep! But the coolest thing I saw in today’s announcement? GPS with AUDIO turn by turn directions!!!! I can’t find my way out of a paper bag. Two days ago I got lost going to a local high school that’s closer to my house than my daughter’s school. This is awesome! I mean my car has GPS but in a quick, I’m lost pinch, I need this! And when I’m in NYC? Awesome! So yes, I’m getting the iPhone 5. And I am sure nobody is surprised. If you’ve been here since 2007, you’ll remember

I’m super excited about the iPhone 5! However, will have to wait until after the first of the year to upgrade my contract. Also have to see what Verizon will do with my data plan. I currently have unlimited, but that goes away when I upgrade to a new phone.
It shouldn’t. We have AT&T and ours didn’t when we upgraded. Be sure to ask about it first. Ours is still unlimited and at the price we were paying before we upgraded. Hopefully Verizon will be the same

I called Verizon. We have a business plan but new phones are grandfathered in!
I don’t have a business plan, and hope my new phone will be grandfathered in as well. Still have to wait a bit to be eligible for upgrade.
Carly, I’m so excited about the IPhone 5. Funny thing is as soon as the announcement was made I thought of you. Hubby needs a new phone so of course I suggested that he take my Iphone 4S and I get the new one. :P
I am getting the new iphone…we have a iphone 3. I didn’t know about the navigation thing…now, I can’t wait! I have that same problem. I’m the one who goes to yahoo maps and (gasp) prints out directions. So excited, now (my iphone is having issues at the moment…). My only complaint is that new adapter thingie. I know that Apple is making adapters, but still. Now, our boys are dibs-ing our old phones (not to be a phone, but to be an itouch). Always something in my world
Actually my other complaint is we have a family share plan now – and unlimited data – and I need to figure out how much more it’s going to cost when we all upgrade.
get the app FAST MAPS it walks you through step by step directions. It’s what i use when i travel.
I don’t know if the gps talking directions will work if your not in a 4G area. I know Siri doesn’t work if i am not in one.

I wish I could say I was…I want an I phone so bad…have not heard anthing bad about them…I have a samsung fascinate and I HATE IT! stuck in a contract right now so I have to be patient. good luck with your new phone. It sounds awesome:)
hubby and i just upgraded a few months ago iphone4s. Works well for him because most places he goes it’s 4G he’s a truck driver. He can ask her to find directions or call me without looking at his phone. He has a headset for talking on his phone ( per the new law for this that started in Jan.) Makes things easier for him Me on the other should’ve gotten i without siri because we don’t have 4G at home. It only works here in my house with the wifi on to boost it. lol. Although i do use it when i go to the city.
Doubt we’ll upgrade to iphone 5 though. We had the 3gs for 3 yrs til we just upgraded. Our boys use them now for internet ( via wifi at home) and for ipods.

I will eventually be the proud owner of the 5 . The rest of the family has the 4s and they taunt me for not haveing a friend like Siri (who is laughing now) They are all contracted I am free to do as I please
I’ll stick with my Droid. Which has turn by turn already. And 4G. And a good camera. And a battery that holds a charge far longer than the iphone. At dragoncon, I had to laugh because The Spawn needed to recharge and mine was the energizer bunny!
I can’t wait to hear about all the things you can do with that phone. It is because of you that I even considered getting an iPhone. Seriously, you need to buy stock in Apple or they should pay you for advertising.

Yes Yes Yes I am so excited over Iphone5. I too will be a buyer. I won’t be able to sleep until its in my hands… and then probably not for a while after because I’ll be to busy playing on it and exploring its awesomeness ;D!
I just got my 4s a year ago, so I have another year on my contract. I guess I’ll be getting the iPhone 6. :D
You are the first person I thought of when I heard the announcement. Since all my TV comes out of San Francisco anything Apple or computer or Google or etc., etc., we hear it first hand!! I thought you might get it!!! :D Me, I could care less. My cell is old, I rarely use but I’m still happy. They announced tonight that due to all the secrecy surrounding anything Apple does, the accessories people (companies) just got the notice of what they need to produce to keep all you Apple users happy. The upgrades mean they have to completely retool, makes new dies, molds, etc. It doesn’t sound like all those extra goodies will be ready that soon!

Maybe someday I’ll be able to afford something Apple, but the prices are just to far out of line for me.
no excitement here. I got the 4S in December and love it. Its just enough phone for me. Love the camera and the convenience of internet. This is my first smart phone so I’m not eager to switch.
I’m right with you Carly. Been a total Apple fan since 2007. Will be ordering mine soon. My only hesitation at the moment, is that Verizon wants me to change my contract and no more unlimited data when. I get the iPhone 5. I may have to bite the bullet and pay full price…..$649 for a phone, so that I can keep my unlimited! Ugh!
NO! Call Verizon and have them check your data usage. I’m currently UNDER 1 GB and it’s costing me one penny more to have a 2 GB (the least amount) with the 5. I ordered mine!!!!!
I’m really excited about the 5 but I still love my 4 and don’t think I’m ready to move. Plus, I just got a custom cover for my 4 so I think I’ll carry it a while longer. Which is not to say that I won’t have envy when I see someone carrying the 5. *sigh*
