Whatcha Reading?

Posted by at Aug 18, 2012 6:00 am

I recently read the first two books in a popular new series by RWA RITA-Award winning author Darynda Jones. The Charley Davidson books are paranormal suspense novels with a lot of humor and a supersexy–if unusual–romance. (Unusual because the hero doesn’t even actually appear on-the-page and in-the-flesh in the first two books! His spirit does.) But the sexual tension is super well done. The comedy got to be a little much for me on a few occasions and I found myself wishing it were a bit toned down, but I definitely will keep reading.

What about you? Have you read FIRST GRAVE ON THE RIGHT or SECOND GRAVE ON THE LEFT? or any of the other Charley Davidson books?

What are you reading?

    Good Morning,

I have not read either of those books. I wll be putting them on my “To Read” list, they sound exciting. I am actually reading a paranormal romance series right now. Melissa R. Smith has two books written in her Sanguine series, and the first book in her Panthera series. I loved Color of Night (Panthera series) and just finished Six Hours to Sunrise. Next in that series is Legacy.

    Happy Saturday Everyone!

Hey Carly, I have the first two I think, but I can’t start them without getting the third. Bought both Darynda’s because I loved the titles. Her name is also very unique.

Currently reading Bending the Rules by Susan Andersen and “How You remind Me” ( Julie’s movella) I’m going light this weekend. For non-romance am reading brad Thor’s Foreign Influence. It’s a great book so far.

    Happy reading everyone!

    Peace and love,

I haven’t read the books yet but it sounds like stories I would like. I just finished Demon Hunting in the Deep South by Lexi George. This is the second in the series after Demon Hunting in Dixie. Demons, demon slayers, a talking dog and a fairy cat, what’s not to love!

    Hi Leslie,

I have not heard of this author or read any of those books. Paranormal is not really my favorite although I’ve read quite a few that I enjoyed including ones by you & Julie.

Earlier in the week I read Beautiful Sacrifice by Elizabeth Lowell. It was good but I don’t love her more recent books as much as some of the earlier ones. I needed something lighter after that which led to Blazing Bedtime Stories, Volume VII by Rhonda Nelson & Tawny Weber. Good, easy, fast reading. Enjoyed both stories. Now I am reading a new to me author Bethany Kane, Addicted to You. :reading: I like the story but some of the sexual encounters are a bit raunchy for me. Not sure I would read another book by her. Have no idea what will be next but I have lots of choices!! 8)

Enjoy the rest of today & Sunday. :flag: :flag: :flag: :flag:

I prefered the audiobooks which I listened to after I had read them because the narrator also does the Stephanie Plum books. I recommended the series to my sister as a light, fluffy read if that’s what she’s in the mood for, but I’d probably give it a C- rating. I’m just not into the characters, nothing in the plot is new and fresh to me (despite her being a reaper). Yet, I will still pick it up at the library for a quick read. I’m not getting much chemistry between Charlie and Reyes either.
