The Heat Has Fried My Brain!

Posted by at Aug 6, 2012 1:00 am

After the heat wave that passed through Oregon this weekend (and is still hanging around), my brain is fried.  Unfortunately, we don’t have air conditioning in the house we’re in, and as a result I’m tired, hot, and sluggish.  As is my mind.  As a result, I haven’t been able to come up with a clever blog for today.  So, let’s do something easy and fun.

Take a look at the graphic below.  Can you find the mistake? And how long did it take you? I’m sure someone will figure it out, so don’t look at the posts below until you have your own answer!

There are 2 “The” words. I would say it took me about 30 seconds. I read it through twice and caught the mistake on the second read through.

Oh my gosh, you don’t have any air conditioning? My heart goes out to you! I live in Indiana and it has been sweltering here all summer. In the 90′s and 100′s. If we didn’t have central air, I would have been a zombie! Hang in there, hopefully, it will get cooler or a storm will come through and cool things off.

There are two “the” words. Found it the first time reading it.

I am not sure how you are surviving withour A/C. In SC we set a record for the hottest July, and with everyone’s health problems, A/C is a priority. However, I just opened the electric bill yesterday, and I think I had a moment where I stopped breathing. That was a rude wake up call.

Have a great day! Try and stay cool. I will be sending cold weather thoughts your way! :snowfight:

It took me 3 times to finally catch it. LOL

Don’t know how anyone survives without a/c. We’ve had record temps since May, so my a/c has been going almost non-stop this summer. Prayers for cooler temps for us all.

I found it, less than a minute, didn’t time self. The brain is a wonderful thing; it blocks out extraneous information quite easily…lol!

I don’t have AC either, but I am good with that, I freeze with it out. The island girl in me loves higher temps. I hope you have a pool or something to keep you cool.

    Have a great day/week everyone.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

Found the 2 the after reading it 2x.

Hope you can stay cool. It should be cooler on east coast this week.

There’s also too many colors in the rainbow. There’s only ROY G BIV not nine colors in the rainbow.

If it makes you feel better, Janelle, we have a/c and it’s STILL hot in our house! Our A/C is working too hard and not enough. The PNW is not made for this weather. I shouldn’t ‘winge’ as they say in the UK.

Well, I found the mistake as soon as my eyes saw the sentence… but then this is my job! double ‘the’.

    LSUReader says:

Yep, found it on the “the” second read. You think Oregon is hot? I’m in south Texas. :hothot:

It took me a minute. I kept looking at the numbers and then I re-read the sentence.
I feel you with the heat. It’s hot here in So Cal and my house only has a swamp cooler which is not doing it for me. Add on a hot flash :onfire: and you might as well stick a fork in me cuz I’m done. This is the time I am grateful my job is in an air conditioned building.

Well, it took me about 4 times. I kept looking at the numbers. But I usually over think everything. I live in Florida where it is usually hot, but my sisters live in Missouri and it is even hotter there. Mixed up weather this year.

My brain is totally fried. It took awhile to find the double word. 110 temps will do that! If anyone has extra rain, please send it this way?

If you have a 2 story house… open an upstairs window and place a fan in it. Have the fan flowing air ‘out’… open a downstairs window… and you’ll have sort of a ‘chimney’ effect.
If only a one story house… use a front window and a back of the house upper window. If a large house, it may take a couple of fans….

It took me the second read to catch the “the” mistake!

It was cooler here in my area of northern California but it is starting back up to another warming trend! By Wednesday it is suppose to be :hothot: again! ugh!!! :boohoo: The heat & I don’t mix well. There is no air conditioning in the apartment I live in. I have two fans but they only do so much. Summer is not my favorite time of year. :yuk: One thing about your area Janelle it will cool down soon. 8)

Knew as I read it. Know idea how many secodns that was. Tend to notice double words but miss other grammatical or editing errors *shrugs*

Two the’s…It took me a while, dang I’m not as good as I thought.
I’m in the PNW too so I know what you’re talking about :hothot: . I think I’m about 50 miles south of you. Today is 73 now and expected to be 85. MUCH BETTER

    Two “the”

    Hope this helps

Make a DIY air conditioner. Put a metal bowl of ice in front of a fan, and adjust the fan so that the air is blowing over the ice. Or, use one or more 2 liter bottles and fill them mostly full of water, freeze them, then place them in a large bowl (to catch dripping water). Position a fan to blow on them. As the ice in the bottles melts, the air cools around them. The fan will blow that air at you. The water in the bottles can be frozen overnight and used again repeatedly.

2 “the”‘s ;) we finally caught a bit of a break from the heat here in Missouri …… It was only 95 today and it felt so much cooler than the 100+ temps we’ve had for the last 6 weeks!

    Kathleen says:

2 the’s I live in Florida and I cannot imagine a house without air conditioning. I hope it cools off for you soon.

    Jeanne Miro says:

I love the muggy hot weather and wish we were getting it here instead of where you live!

The word the was repeated! You might not believe it with the mistakes I sometimes make when posting but my very first job when I was in High School back in the 1960′s was as a proof reader at our local newspaper!

    Laurie P says:

:hothot: It’s still high 80′s here at 9 at night. And the the is a mistake.

It took me me  about 30 seconds reading through it VERY slowly twice!

No A/C?! I would be staying in a hotel till it cooled down…yep, we would find a way! I couldn’t sleep at night unless my room was cool! what are the temps like?

    Tammy Beck says:

There are 2 ‘the’. It took my 3rd try to figure it out.

    Eileen says:

Took mr two tries but there are two ‘the’ in the sentence. Read it the first time and it sure didn’t sound right.
No AC?! Sorry to hear that news. Ugh. I hope you have at least a big house fan to blow on you. Reminds me of my college dorm room back in the late 70′s. No air there either. We survived but it was 2 showers a day.
