So Leslie and Janelle are at RWA like Julie mentioned yesterday and so they haven’t been here to post. And I figure this is as good a time as any (late even) to let anyone who IS going to RWA and expects to see me there know, I had to drop out at the last minute because of family illness. Everything’s OK but I felt better being closer to home. I’ll miss seeing Janelle and Leslie and I’m so sad to miss many of you! I won’t be at Literacy or the Berkley signing, obviously, and I’m sorry if I’m letting anyone down.
Now just want to mention this – paranormal author Lynsay Sands is running a contest near and dear to my heart – THE LADY IS A VAMP in honor of her upcoming release by the same name! Check it out. Enter. I know I did!

I’ve had to cancel several conference plans over the past couple of years because of my husband’s situation, too. I’m always a little disappointed, but I also know it’s always the right thing to do. He’s way more important than any conference, and I figure I wouldn’t enjoy myself or get anything out of it, anyway, because I’d be so worried about him.
I’m glad to hear it’s nothing serious, but I’ll still say a prayer for your family. Hugs!
Family comes first and that’s how it should be. Hope all is well for them and for you.
Linsay Sands books are hilarious, enjoyable, make you laugh out loud!!
Hope everything is better now. I had thought you were planning on going to RWA and wondered about it when I saw your post on Facebook this morning. I couldn’t afford to go to CA, but really hoping to make it to Atlanta next year. :P
I am sorry you have a family illness and need to be closer to home. It is very nice of you to stick close to your family. I hope everyone feels healthier soon. I have never been to RWA and it doesn’t look like I will be going anytime soon. I care for my grandfather 24/7 now, and getting out is nearly imossible. But I have found great website’s like yours, and started my book review blog, to help me stay connected to the outside world. I do hope your family gets better soon, and I hope you can enjoy the rest of your summer. Happy Tuesday everyone!
Family is always the most important. I hope everyone is okay.
As a reader/fan of romance I would urge anyone that gets a chance to go to RWA at least once. It is quite the experience! I was lucky enough to meet all the Plotmonkeys & several other authors that write books I love. Hopefully I will get to go to one more before I can’t!!
I love Linsay Sands’ vampire series. I have read them all and can’t wait for the new one. I have already entered.
I hope all is better or getting better on the home front.
I have had to cancel a trip due to my son’s health issues. I still have to hear comments about it 10 years later. But, when it comes to family, they are first and everyone else, not so much. Sorry you are having to deal with heavy issues. There will always be another conference and chances to meet up with readers. I hope everything gets better soon.
I hope that your family member is feeling better. And true fans know that family come first.
Thoughts and prayers for your family.
The choice to stay home for your family is one you will never regret. It is sad to miss meeting up with everyone at Nationals but there will be more opportunities for conferences.
I love Lindsay Sands! Thanks for reminding me to enter the contest. I can’t think of her and RWA conferences without remembering a specific dinner scene from Single White Vampire where a couple of people end up under a table . . . there is a cod-piece involved . . .. I think I’ll have to reread that this week. :D
