Like Janelle, I’m crazy-busy getting ready for next week’s RWA conference. She and I are both members of the national Board of Directors, so we have to be there three days before the conference starts, so I’m leaving home on Saturday morning.
Anyway, I was so brain dead I forgot until just now (11pm est Monday) that it was my turn to blog. I’m pretty fried for subjects, but I remembered I had been wanting to do a mid-summer-movie-check-in. Have you all seen any big summer blockbusters? I started out the summer with a bang–saw quite a few early on, including The Avengers, which is my favorite of the summer, but haven’t gone to any openings in the past several weeks. We did go see Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter last week (daughter’s birthday, she chose…I wouldn’t have picked that one because I didn’t like the book, but I did end up liking the movie better!)
I want to see Spiderman and of course the new Batman movie. I was dying to see Magic Mike until I started hearing from people who saw it and said even the hot, sexy dudes weren’t enough to overcome the stupidity.
So what do you all recommend? Anything you’re really anxious for?

Saw Magic Mike….save your money…rent the video.
Can’t wait to see the new Batman movie!
I saw “The Avengers” and loved it (not really a “katie’ movie, but loved it). My boys all saw it too (big deal, it’s a PG-13 movie, but we previewed it and so it was okay). My husband saw “Spidey” and I wanted to, but I was in Las Vegas seeing “Dancing with the Stars-the show” (a Las Vegas show of the tv show). Maybe, I’ll take my middle guy next week to “Spidey” (all of the boys saw it). I think DWTS-LV ruined me for “Magic Mike”. I wanted to see “Mike”, but after seeing DWTS-LV, which is amazing and HOT, I think it ruined me for “Mike” and I have heard that it’s not a great movie.
I want to see “Moonshine” or something like that, but not sure I’ll get around to it (you know I love ‘arty’ movies).
I haven’t seen a movie in a theather in 4 years. I seem to get them free on DVD from the public library. I recommend The Full Monty or Calendar Girls if you want to see a funny stripper movie with a plot.
The most recent movie I saw was The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which was soooo good in my opinion. Judy Dench & all the others are very good in their roles. It wasn’t a big box office draw but it was worth seeing. In fact, it was good enough that I know I will watch again once it is out on DVD. It is British humor, a lot of funny scenes
but also some serious moments. Even if you are much younger than retirement age it might be good to make you realize it comes sooner than you think!!!
Hollywood doesn’t seem to make a lot of movies these days that I can’t wait to see. They need some new ideas instead recycling all the old ones. :soapbox: Anyway that is my humble opinion.
Have a good time at RWA.
I’m hoping to see Batman this weekend or next weekend, maybe Spiderman too; both sound great!
Magic Mike is a redbox rental. Loved The Avengers and really want to see Spiderman and Batman.
I have my tix for the midnight showing for Batman. I haven’t seen Spidey yet, but maybe this weekend too, while everyone else is at Batman. Loved The Avengers, everytime I have seen it!!! Yes, I am a geek and proud of it!
I saw Brave with my nephew and it was great! A strong female striving for her own path.
Save your movie ticket on Magic Mike and go see Brave
Hubs wants to do Batman this weekend.
Sounds pretty unanimous re Magic Mike! :eyebrow:
My favorite so far was Brave. I am going to the Avengers this weekend so will probably add it to the top of my list.
Thanks for the warning on Magic Mike, I was going to pick that for my birthday movie but will now try to find Best Exotic Marigold Hotel instead.

The dainty drops is incredibly special, I’d have my granddaughter’s name
don it and provide it to her mother for Christmas. I additionally liked the newborn child
spoon to which I will also put her name on and set in her stocking
among her 1st Christmas gifts. A really lovely website. Appreciation for sharing it.
I have bookmarked it.
