What’cha Reading?
Carly Icon

Hopefully by now I’ve finished my top secret RITA entries and can move on to the books I’ve downloaded on my Kindle. Honestly I’m not sure what they are since I haven’t allowed myself to turn it on for fear of temptation. LOL. So you guys need to tell me on this Reading Saturday – WHAT’CHA READING these days?
Click here for more graphics and gifs!

Carly

CarlyCarly Phillips would like to take 100% credit for all her stories but the truth is, Carly’s strength is writing family, emotion, funky elderly people and animals. She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Because writing doesn’t keep her busy enough, Carly is also a wife, a mother of one preteen and one teenage daughter, the primary care giver of her soft coated Wheaten terrier and an expert carpool mom.

Lorraine Heath’s Midnight Pleasures With a Scoundrel – I’ve read all of the other ones in this series of orphans who grew up in the rookeries of London: Frannie, Luke, Jack and now Jim’s story.

Hey Carly, yay for being able to read books you can actually tell us about…lol! Glad you finished the Rita entries.

The better question for me would be, what are you not reading? LOL!!! Well, picked up Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins last night. I just couldn’t wait any longer…you know my love affair with series. I finished up Louisa Edwards’ Just One Taste last night, and started her Too Hot To Touch. Am also finishing up Jules’ book of the same title. Am probably going to finish Indulgence in Death by J. D. Robb today, and start Treachery in Death. Destined by P.C. & Kristin Cast is on on tap, and I really need to stop dragging out Envy by J.R. Ward…but I don’t have anything else of hers that I haven’t read, and I want to still feel close to her…yep pathetic fangirl here. That’s it for me. Hope your day is going well. See you guys later.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

I’m reading How to Dance with a Duke, by Manda Collins. It’s delightful, and I wish I could read all day, but I’m off to work. It’s a treat that will be waiting for me when I get back. :)

David Gibbins, The Mask of Troy. He’s an archaeologist and a fabulous writer of adventure/thrillers. This novel starts out with Heinrich Schliemann’s discovery of Troy (and all the treasure…there’s some controversy about that, but that’s another story), and then moves on to a fantastic find in current day Turkey. There’s diving, archaeology, danger, a bit of romance (I hope…I haven’t gotten far yet, but he’s put some in his other books). He’s really good!

I just finished the first two books in Allison Chase’s Her Majesty’s Secret Servants series, Most Eagerly Yours and Outrageously Yours. Her Majesty is Queen Victoria and adds a great spin on these spy adventure historical romances. I’m now reading Kelly Meding’s Another Kind of Dead, which is a whole different kind of adventure. :D
    Good reading everyone! :reading:

    Hi Carly -

I’m trying to catch up with all the books I downloaded on my Kindle last year and then never had a chance to read! Right now I’m reading A Wedding Wager by Jane Feather. I hadn’t read one of her books for a while and now that I’ve started A Wedding Wager I realize again how much I enjoy reading her stories!

Since last week I finished reading Destiny by someone named Carly Phillips! It was soooo good. :flowers4you: Now I am reading A Decade of Hope by Dennis Smith. It is very good. This book by Dennis, a retired FDNY, is a series of stories by a survivor of someone that lost a brother, sister, wife, husband, son at the WTC on 9/11. It is a real eye opener about what people went through after that day. There are many different perspectives, many things that happened that weren’t in the news, it is very personal. There are some stories that might make you cry, some stories that make you wonder how some people went on to make the aftermath of that day positive. As I said many different perspectives. I would highly recommend reading it. I have to agree with one person that stated he thinks America in general is getting to complacent. Our library system has this book for which I am very grateful. Dennis has written other books also which I am going to check into. :flag:

It is amazingly beautiful here again today. Everyone enjoy your weekend. I’m going to finish this one & then maybe dive into a Blaze or 2!! I have a large stack of them TBR!! 8)

I love this Gramma! I’m going to be sure to keep her “advice” in mind when my 3 year old granddaughter becomes a teenager.

I was a little above the curve when my sons were teenagers and if their friends mothers knew how I talked to them it probably would have made them blush. I was a little ahead of the curve with the “Health/Sex” education at the time!
