Thursday Thoughts
Carly Icon

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRADY MAN! Last Saturday, January 21, Brady turned one year old. He’s a great dog and I adore him. He’ll never take Buddy’s place but that’s not his job. His job is to be his goofy, loveable self and to LOVE me. Which he does. Just like I love him!

GO PATS! For those who don’t know, I’ve been Tweeting during football playoff games and have come to really enjoy watching the games (so to speak) with my Twitter friends. I’m irreverent and some say funny and no matter if you’re a Giants fan (COUGH!) we’ll have fun on Superbowl Sunday so FOLLOW ME!

CAFFEINE WITHDRAWAL Beginning this past Sunday I stopped drinking Diet Coke, which I was doing in restaurants, occasionally at home, and at friends’ houses. It’s been like being a narcoleptic. All I want to do is sleep. I’m hoping that passes soon. But it as the articles about diet soda contributing to weight gain that got me. I’m also reducing my sugar intake. Easier said than done, especially since if I’m not drinking diet coke, then I shouldn’t drink/consume artificial sweeteners for the same reasons. But I am trying!

EXERCISE – YES I AM! 30 minutes on the treadmill a minimum of three days a week, trying for more. If I can do it, anyone can. Nobody hates exercise like me. Nobody hates to sweat like me. Nobody hates boredom like me. My goal is NOT weight loss. Yes I’d love that to be a side result (so far its not happening) but I’m doing it for one reason – GET THAT BLOOD FLOWING IN MY BODY. I had a wakeup call when a chiropractor said to me, get your blood flowing and it’ll help everything that hurts. And I thought of my dad and his problems, I thought of my genetics, and I said, I MUST DO THIS or else. And I am. When you don’t have a goal that you aren’t obtaining (like weight loss) it’s a huge help – I do it, keep reminding myself why when I want to quit, and feel proud after that yes I accomplished my goal. First time in my entire life.

THE HEARTBREAKER – Ever since THE BACHELOR went on sale for $1.99 eBook, people have been downloading/rereading the series. And they’re looking for THE HEARTBREAKER in eBook form. NOOK readers have had no problem but KINDLE readers couldn’t find the third in the series. Well guess what? THE HEARTBREAKER is available for Kindle now! The last two books, THE PLAYBOY and THE HEARTBREAKER are full publisher price, but THE BACHELOR is still $1.99!! Here is my CHANDLER BROTHER book page – click on each book individually for the separate links for each book’s eBook!

ADVANCED APOLOGY – Ever since our Blackout Week (due to hackers) we’ve all promised to make a greater effort to post during the day here in comments, even if we’re busy. It’s been hard this week with my daughter’s midterm schedule, doctors in between, I started physical therapy on my upper neck/back, and life in general. And today I’m leaving for a few days, so you may not hear from me till tonight or tomorrow. I haven’t forgotten you and I’ll be around as soon as I’m able!

So I’ve left you with plenty of topics to grab onto and discuss until I get back. Pick one!

Aren’t our pets so important in our lives? They love us without fail and just seem to be there when we need them. And they ask for nothing but food. Have a great day.

I also stopped drinking Diet Pepsi a couple months ago- tend to yawn a lot at night when reading. Still walk daily but haven’t noticed weight loss- body feels better however so that’s a start!

Carly, all you need to do is be there for yourself and your family, everything else is cool after that. I recently read your book “Seduce Me”, and it was so damn good! You are so good at what you do and I really appreciate it. As far as motivation for the treadmill, pretend you are in a fantasy and you are walking to that scantily clad man and he is patiently waiting for you to get to him and boy howdy is it going to be soooooo worth it! :hothot: :domainatrix: :dancebanana: :yourock :snoopy:

It sounds like your life is as busy as my life. Still finishing out the “big dig” and I can see the end of the project. Now, I just gotta donate the stuff. I promised it to my aunt, but she lives 1 1/2 hour away and she can’t drive down here until later next month. Le Sigh. I see a road trip in my boys’ and my future.

I wonder if the diet drinks are making it harder for me to lose weight. Sad thing is, that even my Crystal Light has artificial sweetner in it. I could drink a pitcher of that a day with no problems. I do need to cut back on my sugar and up my fitness. Way to go on 30 minutes a day 3 days a week. I’m getting more exercise since starting my 5k training program again, but still need to push myself to do more.

Happy birthday to Brady. I have been checking out your banter on twitter throughout the playoffs, Carly. I don’t really watch football, but it is fun to read what crazy fans right…lol! I hope that all is well, and you continue to accomplish your goal of getting the blood flowing each day. Take care of yourself and I hoep you come back feeling rejuvenated. Will miss you.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

Carly if you are feeling better it is all worth the effort. When you start yawning get up & move around it will pass. It is always good to get healthy. I try but I do like my indulgences! :candles: Happy Birthday to Brady.

I finished Destiny recently which I loved. I am looking forward to Karma. I encourage everyone to ready the Serendipity books because they are soooooooo good. :applause: :flowers4you:

Have safe travels to where you are going. :flag:

I’ve also stopped any kind of soda, have gone to one cup of coffee a day, and that hurts, no sugar if possible; I have lost some weight but not substantially yet.
Physiotherapy helps the lower back, so does massage therapy, keep at it; it’s helping my osteo-arthritis; but the day after the treatments you’re back to pain.

I need to stop drinking Diet Coke, which I don’t do too often. I’m not a coffee drinker so on those really tired days when I needed some caffeine I would sip some. Glad your baby is doing so well. Haven’t decided if I want to buy the ebooks of one of my favorite series, next to the Hot series, since I already own the paperbacks. We will see.

I have read that it is often easier to wean yourself off soda, coffee, other drinks that you would rather not be drinking by reducing the amount that you are drinking gradually. Basically instead of having a glass of diet Coke, opting for a glass of water some of the time and increasing how often you have water in place of the soda etc so that once you are completely off the diet soda your body doesn’t crave it. I have to admit that I haven’t had to try this since my drink of choice is water, with the occasional iced tea or soda when I want a change from water.

I already have paperback copies of the Chandler brothers books, but even following the links from your website, I’m unable to purchase the ebooks as I’m outside North America. :?

I like both teams so it’s going to be a nail biter for sure, at least for me. I think I will root for the ads! I’ve always been a Pats fan, but the Giants summer camp is here, right across the street from where I work actually.

I love my furbabies and none of them can be replaced or replace any others. Thank god, because some of them are absolutely bat sh!t crazy.

Okay, I went for the Chandler books and downloaded the lot of them to my Kindle. I am using them as my “carrots” for treadmill time. :reading:

I am with you on attitude regarding exercise, but am making myself do the time. I’d rather walk outside once the weather improves.
I gave up diet-coke, too, about two years ago. I do have about six a year, but only when driving long distances in the summer. *sigh*

Take care of yourself and tell Brady: “Happy Birthday, puppy.”

I hate Diet Sodas in general. I don’t drink it. They taste too sweet.

I am also exercising for 30 minutes a day for 3 to 4 days a week. It been hard and I really need to push myself but I really need it. My heart surgery was a year ago and it is time to get back on track, not to say anything about the weight which needs to be loose badly. But I keep trying.

    I’m a zombie if I don’t have my caffeine.

Cut back cold drinks (I’m strictly a Dr. Pepper and Pepsi girl) but still have to have one or two a week (depending on how stressful). Have some odd allergies and all those DP flavors don’t always get mixed up good, which can be a problem. Can’t go died DP or Pepsi though. BLECK! Trying Diet Coke with 0 calories and lower sodium (or so the can promises). Had the headache yesterday and had to break down and get a fountain DP.

Still gotta have the caffeine. So I drink coffee. Never been one to add stuff to my drink; just a cup of joe please. Try asking for that at Starbucks or similar places and see what kind of burnt drain water you get! I work with guys and gotta say, it’s not like the old days; most pollute theirs a lot these days. They get a kick out of it though when I tell them I like my coffee like I like my men: strong and stands alone.

    Good luck cutting back!
