The plotmonkeys would like to welcome guest author Vivian Arend to the jungle! Please help us in giving her a very warm welcome!

Welcome to the Six Pack Ranch

One of the blessings of having a big family is there’s always someone around. Someone to share your fears, to laugh with about a good story, to tease when you need to let off a little steam.

One of the curses of a big family is there’s always someone around. In your face when you want a little quiet. Accusing you of the wrong doings they hope to get out of. Stealing your thunder with a timely cut down or two.

Ahhh, family…

The joys and the frustrations are a reality, so when I started thinking about writing a contemporary cowboy series, the family was the most important part of what I wanted to include. Yes, each of the six brothers on the Six Pack Ranch will get a happily ever after, along with some of the other family in the area. But even when the focus is on the hero and heroine—it’s not.

A life in isolation is just not possible in any big family. Especially in a big family in a small town…every action has consequences, and that’s been one of the joys of writing this series. Making the Coleman family come to life. Discovering the good times they share, the troubles and fighting and, yes, the celebrating.

This November 15 the first book, Rocky Mountain Heat, releases with oldest brother Blake having to take a good long look at the girl next door. If he’s not careful, his insistence she’s too young for him might just open up the door for his younger brothers to try for her heart.

Daniel’s story releases in January—and his sweetheart comes with some extra family as well. As a fairly new widow, Beth is not only trying to recover physically from the accident that took her husband’s life, but to find happiness after years of being abused.

And in March the third of the boys of the ranch will look for his HEA—exactly where he shouldn’t be looking. And through it all, their younger brothers and cousins, parents and friends will encourage them, distract them and—eventually—celebrate with them.

If you like your stories with family, heart and heat, I hope you take a peek.

Rocky Mountain Heat

Six Pack Ranch, Book 1

He’s the one who taught her to ride. Now all he wants is to ride her.

Blake Coleman is old enough to know that acting on impulse causes nothing but a heap of trouble. But when trouble’s a western-hat-wearing blonde with slim legs that go on forever, what’s a man to do? Wanting the sweet girl next door is just wrong. The responsible thing to do is keep his hands off.

Jaxi has other plans for Blake’s hands, and his heart. She may have once considered him a big brother, but that was a long time ago. She’s all grown up now and ready to convince him that she’s perfect for him. Except he can’t seem to see past the big “don’t touch” sign that’s apparently still hanging around her neck.

When Jaxi ends up living right under Blake’s nose, the undeniable heat between them slides off simmer and leaps up to barn-burning levels. However, a few of the younger six-pack Colemans have decided Jaxi’s brand of trouble is worth risking a few busted bones.
That is, if Blake’s finally ready to let go the reins and fight for what he wants…

Warning: Sexy cowboys seducing and being seduced in trucks, pool halls and barns. Droolworthy country charm, a little double-teaming, a few secrets and a whole lot of brothers to look forward to. Anyone wanna go for a ride?

I do like series based on sexy brothers!

I’d love to read Rocky Mountain Heat to see how Blake finally notices his lovely neighbor Jaxi as a woman vs a little sister. Jaxi sounds like a handful of trouble!

Best wishes for success with your Six Pack ranch series!

I really really enjoy stories about families. Mary Balogh’s “Simply” series, Julia Quinn, Stephanie Laurens, Eloisa James, Jennifer Ashley, Sandra Brown and Maya Banks all have wonderful series that have multiple books dealing with families.

I think it has a lot to do with wonderful characters- revisiting them in future books – and wanting to see whats coming next.

I will definitely be checking out this series. It sounds awesome :) Congratulations on the new release!!

Getting to sneak peeks at the heroes and heroines from previous stories is a huge thing for me. I want to know they are still having a HEA, you know?

      And thank you!

Love your books. Last time you were here with plot monkeys, I read some of your work. And fell in love with your Granite Lake wolves series. So excited with this new series coming out soon. Can’t wait. Thanks for sharing your talent.

      Vivian Arend says:

Heheh. Those wolfies are rather adorable. Did you try Black Gold as well?

It’s fun to switch between paranormal and contemporary. Although I have to work hard at times to make sure I don’t have someone shift in the middle of a cowboy story!

      • Maria esquivel says:

I sure did! And especially getting to read from past characters and see where they are at in their lives.

    Melanie Revis says:

Who doesn’t love a good cowboy story. This sounds like a very interesting series about a big family. I know a little about the small town aspect since most of my mother’s family is from a very small town in Tennessee. I am looking forward to its release.

      Vivian Arend says:

I started tweeting facts about small town living and I could spot the fellow small towners.

If you’ve never been to one, it’s odd to think that people really do know what you did back in grade eight. And they will never forget it. :D

    Na says:

All of Vivian Arend’s books sound great, whether they or paranormal stories or ones about cowboys. Her newest series is one I’m going to keep an eye on.

    Donna M says:

Welcome to the Jungle Vivian. This sounds like a great series, would love to read it. I don’t read ebooks. I’m just an old fashioned female that likes a good book in her hands. Are these out only in ebooks or are they also released as paperbacks?

Good luck with this series. :applause:

    • 22.1
      Vivian Arend says:

      Thanks for the welcome, Donna.

The books are published with Samhain, who do digital first, but the good news is they also put books to print. The bad news? Not for another 10-12 months. But eventually all the books will be available in either format.

If you’d like to try a contemporary series of mine that is out in print, well, book 1 is out now, and book two is a January 4 release. The Turner Twins. Another small town setting, big family. Not cowboys though. Look for Turn It On and Turn It Up.

      • Pamiam says:

well I guess that settles whether to do the ebook or paperback. Sometimes it’s nice to have that paper in your hands so you can keep turning back to the cover. So many are every bit as drool worthy as the story. :onfire:

        • Vivian Arend says:

WELL! I will be getting cover flats made, so if you want to stare at the loveliness, there will be a way. Ebook reader, cover flat in hand…you’re good!

  23. 23
    Lisa B says:

I’ve red several of Vivian’s books and have never been disappointed. This new series sounds like a winner and i love me some cowboys so bring it on! lol

    Karen C says:

I grew up in a relatively small family and hoped I would marry into a big one because I wanted to experience the blessings and curses you described. Alas, it was not to be and that is my reason for reading and enjoying books like Rocky Mountain Heat – The Six Pack Ranch.

  31. 31
