What are you Reading?
Leslie Icon

I have been on a Deanna Raybourn glom. I met Deanna at the booksigning I did at Nora Roberts’ store this summer, and was impressed by her charm and wit. So I bought the first book in her Lady Julia Grey historical mystery series (Silent in the Grave.) I kind of forgot about it for a month or so, then stumbled across it and picked it up to start reading.

Well…I didn’t put it down until I was finished. I totally loved it!

Went onto Amazon to see about the rest of the books in the series and was tickled that they had a bundle of all 3 of the first books for 9 bucks. Then books 4 and 5 were about 7 each. So I absorbed all 5 of them over the past couple of weeks.

They’re not romances, but they have a very strong central romance that runs through the course of the books. There’s an OH SO SEXY hero who is a half-gypsy Victorian-era detective. And he makes the books worth reading, even if the plots and other characters weren’t so fabulous. I highly recommend them.

What about you? Anybody else read these? What are you reading?

Leslie

LeslieLeslie Kelly used to say she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up, but then she discovered Nancy Drew books. Being a flashlight-under-the-covers-nose-in-book reader throughout her childhood, she couldn’t think of anything else she’d rather do as an adult than continue to lose herself in fictional stories. Her real life marriage of 20 years to the man of her dreams is a constant reinforcement that happily-ever-afters really can happen…and that they’re worth writing about. Living in Maryland, Leslie spends her non-writing time laughing a lot with the above-mentioned romance hero and their three daughters. Though an author of more than thirty sexy, contemporary comedies, she has recently branched out to write dark romantic suspense under the pseudonym Leslie Parrish.

I am reading Sierra Dean next release out on the 20th “A Boody Good Secret”. Loving it too. This is her 2nd full book. The first is ” A secret this way Comes” and then there is a short novella “The Secret guide to dating”. It’s a series. To give you a little clue Secret is a the main female character. These are paranormal romance. Loving this new author.

Hey Les, I love Deanna Raybourne’s name. I never tried her books though, but was very tempted to pick up the one you mentioned based on title alone. I like her as a person too, so I will be getting her books at some point.

Right now I’m reading, Serendipity (round two) by our lovely Carly, Envy by J.R. Ward, Red Kiss by Deidre Knight…this book is one that I’m dragging out…it’s so good…Thin, Rich, Pretty by Beth Harbison and Terms of Surrender by the one and only Leslie Kelly.

Just wanna plug another series as well….Jill Shalvis’ Animal Magetism series…It is great. I read the first book, Animal Magnetism and fell in love. Then, I got my hands on an ARC for the second book, Animal Attraction, which comes out in October. OMG…that book is really good. Check them out!

I hope you guys have a great weekend. Take care.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

I just started reading “The Last Summer of You and Me” by Ann Brasheres. I seem to be reading ‘fiction’ books that are thick.

I’m 3/4 of the way through Carolyn Brown’s Honky Tonk series. I just finished My Give A Damn’s Busted. Trying to get motivated to do some chores around the house but I’ll probably continue to procrastinate and read.

I’m reading Enamored by Diana Palmer. It’s in the Soldiers of Fortune book (3 novels in one book) published together in 2000. The individual books were published in the 1980′s. I’m enjoying it a lot (life away from computers cell phones, etc.)

I’m reading Lori Foster’s book When You Dare, the first in a series. It has been awhile since I read Lori & I am loving this one. It has sat on my TBR shelf awhile due to library books & other disruptions to reading!!! Just before this I read Catherine Anderson’s Comanche Magic. Both authors are favorites. Usually I don’t read historicals but Catherine Anderson’s I like!
Next week I get to shop books at least a couple. I can’t wait to get a copy of Serendepity in my hands. I think Julie has a Blaze out that I want also. Too many books, too little cash!!! :D Next month I’m taking a trip so I am trying not to spend money! It is somewhat futile!!! :drama:

I haven’t read the Raybourn books, but the bundled books sound interesting. I’ve bought some other e-book bundles from Amazon, and I love getting books for less.

I’m reading SISTERS OF FORTUNE by Jehanne Wake. This book is about the Caton Sisters from the US who go to Europe, and find husbands there. I just started the book yesterday, but it seems that this author has done some excellent research.

Over the past couple of days, I read Linda Howard’s new book “Prey” — sorry to say, but I did not like it as much as I have her prior books. Her last few books have had a different tone, and the characters don’t seem as well developed…or maybe it’s just me :)

I just started My Favorite Countess tonight by Vanessa Kelly. I love the way Vanessa draws a reader into her stories so that you feel a personal connection to the authors. I’d plan on reading just a chapter or two but that was 2 1/2 hours ago so plan in advance to have lots of free time before you start it because you will definately not want to put it down! I love having a strong ind obstinate heroine and Bathseba is definately that and more. This is one historical romance that you definately should pick up if you haven’t had the pleasure of reading it!
