Carly and Leslie are having so much fun, I decided to take today’s post and give another FIVE people a chance to win a copy of TOO HOT TO TOUCH, with the free bonus book, EXPOSED.
But let’s work a little harder today and get a conversation started…
Alejandro, the hero of TOO HOT TO TOUCH, receives a ring that his father believed imbued the wearer with three qualities associated with a famous California bandit: a sense of adventure, a talent with the ladies and a strong belief in justice. Alex already has the second two…but he’s a little behind on the first. He’s an art expert and auction house owner (unlike his brothers, who are an FBI agent and a jewel thief, respectively.) So the ring gives him a little swash for his buckle, if you know what I mean.
Who are your favorite film/television/book swashbucklers? Those men with daring-do…and who never fail to melt a lady’s heart?
Winners picked tomorrow…

By all reports, Julie Leto was a sweet child once, somewhat shy, preferring to play quietly in her room making up stories. However, being raised with three brothers in a loud, primarily Italian household did have its influences and Julie discovered her inner tough girl. That’s probably why most of her heroines kick serious butt. Writing sassy heroines has worked out, as she’s sold over forty books to four publishers featuring strong, confident women. Julie lives in Florida with her daughter, a spoiled dachshund, a haughty lynx-point Siamese and a wide range of relatives all within driving distance.

Wow, a toughie. I’m taking this literally. I grew up watching Errol Flynn swashbuckle his way across the tv, but I really liked Johnny Depp in the first Pirate film. Not sure about book, there are too many. Johanna Lindsay’s and Beatrice Small’s early heros come to mind. But there are lots of other heros life savers out that I love too.

Lately I have been reading books about navy seals…they are so fascinating to me. Strong and devoted..can’t think of anything better than that. All hot too!

Well, going way back I have to say that I love Rourke in Shanna by Kathleen E Woodiwess. That was my first real romance novel and is still very special and close to my heart. I still seem to have a thing for the name Rourke because JD Robb’s In Death series has a very interesting one too. LOL
I don’t know if you would consider the Remington Steele TV series or not but Pearce Brosnan still does my heart good.

Currently, tv, Castle,
MacGarrett on Hawaii Five O.
Books, Rannulf from Slightly Wicked by Mary Balogh
. The Soldier (devlin) by Grace Burrowes.
The men from Shana Galens,
Making of a Duchess/Gentleman. Oh, there are just so many. The strong brave ones. I love the ones that dont start out that way too.

The first one that comes to mind is Errol Flynn. I grew up watching his movies on TV — Robin Hood, Captain Blood, etc.
Comment
I grew up watching Tyrone Power and Errol Flynn in their adventurous and scrumptious movies. Another one I loved was John Wayne in his war and western movies. Then there was Sean Connery in his 007 movies. Yummy!
Comment
He didn’t have a literal sword but my favorite in book, television, and movies has to be the character Superman. I especially like the aspect of the ‘mild mannered’ but strong character.
I enjoy reading books where the hero is multifaceted… I was fortunate that 46 years ago I ran into my hero, married him, and even now, though he has a form of Alzheimer’s, he still can swash his buckle when he has clarity of mind.

PS: As far as books and movies go, I loved Clark Gable in Gone With The Wind.
Comment
Oh give me Antonio Banderas as Zorro with those
latin looks and voice.
That is me swooning.
Comment
I’m with Ardie–mention swashbuckler and I think of Mr. Banderas, both as Zorro, and as the utterly amusing Puss-in-Boots in Shrek. Hee!
Comment
TV would have to be Castle and White Collar. Books Rhett Butler.
Comment
I’m also loving Castle just now, but I’ve been a Nathan Fillian fan for a long time. I’m really enjoying Maya Bank’s KGI series just now, they are special ops kind of guys and oh my!

Hi Julie I am glad someone stayed behind with the rest of us. It would have been lonely without you

The first name that came to mind was Clark Gable as Rhett Butler. Next Antonio Banderas as Zorro both fit the role to a T.
TV, Harm on JAG, Tom Sellack as Magnum & now on Blue Bloods. Sean Connery in anything!
Books are much harder because I have read so many good ones over the years. Suzanne Brockman’s Navy SEALS in her books, any of the military heroes in all the books I love! Certainly not last, Damon Forsyth in Phantom Pleasures. Nice to be reminded how much I enjoyed reading this series. Since I had to look at the book to refresh my memory on names I also enjoyed reading your lovely note when you signed the book. Thanks Julie.
I just have to mention Tom Cruise in Top Gun since I love flying, planes & again those military heroes. That was a good movie, may have to watch it again!!

I loved the Horatio Hornblower and Sharpe series.

No one comes immediately to mind for films and there are way too many to name for books.
For TV – I’m going with Adrian Paul in the Highlander series. I’ve just always thought he was hot and I loved his accent. There can be only one!
Comment
Totally Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.

Forgot to leave my answer…but Angel was very heroic to me. Trying to right all his wrongs after getting his soul back. Love that theme.

I’m have to agree and say Antonio Banderas and Johnny Depp!!!!!
For books I have to say I have a thing for Stephanie Laurens “Bar Cynster”, how can you not love men with the nicknames of Devil, Scandal, Vane, Gabriel, Lucifer and Demon!!!!!
Comment
Oooh..This is a tough one but my thoughts keep coming back to the tv hero MacGuiver. I always thought he was so cool, handsome and exciting in an un expected way.
Comment
My sister and I love old movies, so Errol Flynn is a fav! Depp is great in the Pirates movies…
Comment
Definitely JD Robb’s Roarke and Stephanie Lauren’s Bar Cynster in books.
I loved watching Guy Williams as Zorro, Mark Harmon on NCIS, Robert Urich and Avery Brooks in Spenser for Hire.
Comment
The old Zorro series with Guy Williams. Ricardo Montalban in pretty much anything. And Antonio Banderas, even as Puss in the Shrek series.
Comment
Oh I love The Three Musketeers with Keifer Southerland, Charlie Sheen Oliver Platt and Chris O’ Donnel. Lots of sword fighting and justice served.
Kevin Costner as Robin Hood Prince of Thieves ,Heath Ledger in A Knight’s Tale and at the top of the heap has got to be Captain Jack Sparrow aka Johnny Depp.
Comment
Clive Owen, in King Arthur and The International. Love, love, love him. And Christian Hawkins from Tara Janzen’s Crazy series.
Comment
I’d have to pick Captain Jack Sparrow, and Zorro as well.
Comment
My all time favorite is Adrian Paul of the Highlander.

TV: The lead male characters on Bones, White Collar, Burn Notice,
Hawaii 5-0, The Glades, Covert Affairs, and especially on NCIS!
Books: If it’s books with Seals, soldiers, cowboys, doctors, historicals, law enforcers – it’s hero time!

My favs—Tom Selleck, Nathan Fillian, and Robert Wagner. (Remember It takes a Thief) Love the Cynsters, and Jayne Ann Krentz did some great pirates and adventurers. Great topic.
Comment
I would have to go with Pierce Brosnan in the remake of The Thomas Crowne Affair. He’s a millionaire businessman by day and an art thief as a hobby. He likes the rush of it. He also has a long list of conquests. The right woman comes along and steals his heart.
Comment
oh, yes….Steve McGarrett on Hawaii 5-0
Comment
Captain Mal from Serenity!
Comment
I like Zorro and the old Errol Flynn movies.
Comment
Seriously?? Well the very, very long list would start with John Wayne and include Errol Flynn, Tyrone Power, Clark Gable, even Cary Grant and Gene Kelly (yeah, yeah).
While we were in LA, I read the entire Julia Spencer-Fleming Clare Ferguson/Russ Van Alstyn series and can not wait for the next one. So right now, he’s up there.
Gibbs, Castle and McGarrett are most def at the top of the current TV list along with David Boreanaz (Bones) in anything, including a towel. Well, the others in the towels too.
Missed all the posts this week, so I am trying to catch up!!!
Comment
Tough one, but I’ll pick Gerard Butler from 300…
Comment
Basil Rathbone was a great swordsman…he made Errol Flynn..and perhaps others look good.
Comment
My favorite swash buckling hero was Guy Williams as Zorro back in the 1950s.
Comment
Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp, drooling!!!
Comment
The first swashbuckler that comes to mind is Russell Crowe in Robin Hood. And a close second is Johnny Depp in Pirates.
Comment
As soon as I heard swashbucklers my first thoughts took me back to the 1950′s and watching the The Musketeers on our black and white TV! I guess I’m giving away my age with that answer.
My current favorite swashbuckler would be Johnny Depp in any of the Pirates of the Carribean movies but I think that his portrayals in Edward Sissorhand and The Legend of Sleepy Hallow had a lot of “swashing” in there as well. (If “swashing” isn’t a word it should be).
Fun topic anyway and it really took me back to my childhood! Thanks for the memories.

Im really loving all the hockey players that Rachel Gibson writes about

TV – Nathan Fillon as Castle – of course! But could also add Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott.

Books – there are so many – Kathleen Woodiwiss’s Brandon Birmingham in the Flame and the Flower; Rourke in Shanna; Johanna Lindsay’s Mallory Men; Karen Robards Tom Braga in Guilty; Joann Ross’s High Risk Men; Robyn Carr’s Jack Sheridan; Carly’s Quinn Donovan in the first Costas Sisters book; and the list goes on and on…

My All Time Favorite TV Series Hero is Jack Bauer from the long running 24.
He is so awesome! Played by Kiefer Sutherland, he’s a bad ass, the head guy at CTU, Counter Terrorism Unit and he does what it takes to protect & prevents terrorist attacks on US soil and tries to destory the bad guys, usually succeeding.
I’ve always like Kiefer Sutherland since he played in The Lost Boys in the 80′s. But the series 24 is my all time favorite series. We are rewatching it on Netflix from the beginning and It just reminds me what a fantastic show it was for 10 yrs. I reccommend anyone who has not seen it to watch it. It’s about Jack’s family, Job, and the lives of those around him. Your addereline gets going in some episodes so bad you almost can’t take the suspense. If you haven’t seen and watch I really hope you love it like we did.
