In the NW, it’s funny, we spend our winters inside (due to rain) and then, we get a brief reprieve and then if the weather gets too hot, we stay inside again (the majority of our houses don’t have air conditioning…the newer houses do, like us, so people have ‘heat places” like libraries…again inside). We can’t win…I’d love a gift card :)

We actually had a storm roll through Chicago-land Wednesday night and our high of 94 on Wednesday turned into a high of 62 on Thursday. It was COLD! Mother Nature’s indecisiveness is driving me nuts and wrecking havoc with what to wear on a daily basis.

Heat? What heat? It was 103 here on Tuesday and right now it’s 53. Yesterday the high was 65! What is going on with this weather? Of course today being the first day of my summer vacation & it’s rainy & cool. Suppose to be nicer this weekend. So all you heat infested areas, just wait, the cooler weather will appear soon. Happy Friday anyways. Could sure use the gift card, lots of summer to reading to do.

We had heat in February! Not hot yet but it has been warming up. It is suppose to get up in the 80′s which is warmer than I like it but at least it isn’t 100…yet!

I’m in Florida and our heat is pretty normal for this time of year, but it’s still hot! I’m pretty much staying inside in the air conditioning, I haven’t even been in the pool yet this year. I’m planning on doing more of the same and reading a good book this weekend.

Thanks for the chance to win, Leslie!!! Weather man said it hit 104 outside today with the humidity level over 60% making it feel like 120. I believe every word the man said! Since I do not have central air in my Mexican style home I fell every single water droplet in the air! Thirsty? Just inhale and there you go!
Thank goodness we are moving back Stateside soon! Heck, right now I would take shoveling snow over the heat wave that has hit and will last for 9 months!

I too am staying inside most of the time. I don’t do heat very well, some of it due to my medication so I either stay inside until the sun goes down and it cools off, or go out for short times, and swimming. Unfortunatey, I also burn easy.

Said 96 today. Felt hotter. And I live in a rural area that kicked off an 8-day festival honoring local farmers today. Hot air balloons. Tomorrow there’s a parade, ice cream contest and a tether and glow in the p.m. for the balloons. LOTS of outdoor stuff. Usually, if you get there in time to sample any of the entries in the ice cream contest, they’re more like milkshake! My son gets to help with flags at the ballooning tomorrow night.
But other than tending my patio garden and watching the cat chase toads and lizards about the only time I’m outside is in the car to and from offices or out on calls.
And at least I don’t have to go spend the week as an adult advisor at Boy Scout summer camp the week leading up to July 4 this year. Last year, it was tents, over 2 dozen copperheads, 1-2 hours from a medical facility with anti-venom, so hot was sweating before got fully dry from washing off! Last night torrential rain, swapping boys in tents that didn’t leak and have 2 inches of water pooling, breaking down camp in the rain. Thank goodness our tents zipped shut tight. Those on raise platforms with an open fly had cooperheads in their beds! Yikes!
Haven’t gotten very far on my summer reading list, but then, summer just officially started this week in town for the kids, so guess I’m not too far behind the count. Have a half dozen stacked up just waiting for time, and at least that many on my “gotta get” list.
