ONE THING with Tiffany Clare!
Julie Icon

This week’s contributor to our ongoing ONE THING series is Tiffany Clare, a fabulous historical author whose second book with St. Martin’s Press is in stores now! She’s here to answer our deceptively simple question…WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU KNOW NOW THAT YOU WISH YOU’D KNOWN WHEN YOU WERE FIRST STARTING OUT?

That’s a tough one. I think I wish I had known that it wasn’t ever going to get easier. The second book was harder to write. The promo was no walk in the park and, in fact, incredibly stressful. The deadlines are tough, with a day job (I thought I would be fine because heck, I was already writing two books a year, pre contract). Well, that totally isn’t how it is. On top of those two books, day job, kids, and life in general, there are edits, rewrites, page proofs, etc., etc. I had this preconceived idea of what would happen after landing that first sale. That it would only get easier. *snorts* I know now that isn’t the truth. And I probably would have ignored anyone that tried to tell me that before I was ready to experience it for myself! LOL

Check out the wonderful story Tiffany has in store for lovers of historical romance (including me!) this week!

THE SEDUCTION OF HIS WIFE
AN INCONVENIENT SCANDAL
Emma Hallaway has not seen her husband in twelve years—and that’s fine with her. As a young girl, she’d agreed to a simple marriage of convenience, allowing her to pursue her private passion for painting. And though unknown to the rest of polite society, Emma is now one of the most daring and sought-after artists in London. However, when her secret is threatened to be exposed, Emma is forced to open her heart—and her home—to a total stranger: her husband…

AN UNEXPECTED SURPRISE

Richard Mansfield, Earl of Asbury, is all too familiar with danger. As a matter of fact, it is hard on his heels when he returns to England. Still, even he is shocked to learn of his wife’s scandalous double life as an artist. But once he sees the vibrant grown woman she has become—so passionate, so strong, and so alluring—his undeniable attraction to Emma stuns him. Suddenly Richard is determined to turn their sham of a marriage into a true and lasting love. But how exactly does a gentleman seduce his own wife?

Tiffany is also offering a copy of her first book, THE SURRENDER OF A LADY, to one lucky commenter! (Check back Sunday to see if you won…US shipping only.)

Julie Leto

JulieBy all reports, Julie Leto was a sweet child once, somewhat shy, preferring to play quietly in her room making up stories. However, being raised with three brothers in a loud, primarily Italian household did have its influences and Julie discovered her inner tough girl. That’s probably why most of her heroines kick serious butt. Writing sassy heroines has worked out, as she’s sold over forty books to four publishers featuring strong, confident women. Julie lives in Florida with her daughter, a spoiled dachshund, a haughty lynx-point Siamese and a wide range of relatives all within driving distance.

I know when I was raising my kids and working it seemed like there wasn’t enough time for everything so I can imagine that you add writing and promoting your books is a tough one.

Thanks for the tip, Tiffany. “Seduction” has a lovely cover – that alone will have me picking up the book, but the book summary is so intriguing. I have a weakness for heroines who paint! Have a great weekend.

I’ve always admired people who can sustain their creativity, whether it’s books or music. The first one is awesome but all the subsequent ones show the depth of the writer’s/musician’s talent.

Plus, your book covers are wonderful!

Welcome, Tiffany! You know how much I adored your first book :yourock and I’m looking forward to getting a copy of the second.

I’ve always heard that anything worthwhile is worth working for. A cliche, I know, but I’m oh so glad that you’re continuing to work at your craft even though it’s getting harder with each book. We readers appreciate it! :cheer:

Even though it has not gotten easier, we are thankful that you continue writing. Authors are so talented and I would be lost without a good book to read. Thank you for the giveaway.

Don’t enter me, I’m in Canada. I met you at the Toronto RWA before you were published so it’s easy for me to squee & say “Congrats, nice to see another Canadian author success story”. I’m still so surprised at how many authors have day jobs on top of their writing. Add in family stuff and it’s just incredible.
I so admire those that are brave enough to try to do it all.

Hi Tiffany, so neat to meet you!! I always wonder how you authors fit all you do in the time you can find you have! Its like working 3 full time jobs! and more! :hairpull:

THE SEDUCTION OF HIS WIFE sounds fab! I can’t remember reading a book of them married early in the book or already married and a seduction throughout! I love this blurb! I just checked out the blurb for the first book too! Awesome!

I was going to ask if you had time to read for you but most likely its been a while. I do hope you get to take some time for you every chance you can!

It seems that when dealing with a most important objective, like your
writing, it never gets easier. One ends up putting more and more
effort into reaching that goal, which can make it harder to handle.
