ONE THING with Brenda Jackson!
Julie Icon

The Plotmonkeys are SO EXCITED to have the incomparable BRENDA JACKSON here with us in our jungle today! If you’ve never met Brenda, well, you need to remedy that. She’s one of the warmest, most gracious women on the planet. And man, oh, man, can she write a hot book! She knows what’s she’s doing…she’s published a boatload of bestsellers, has won a ton of awards and most importantly, has built a community of loyal readers who clamor for her amazing stories. We’re honored to have her here to answer our question: WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU KNOW NOW THAT YOU WISH YOU’D KNOWN THEN?

“The one thing I know now that I didn’t know back then is the value of an agent. I negotiated my first 6 books on my own, which took a lot of my time and research to feel like I do what I was doing – when I really didn’t. It’s nice to have someone who believes the best deals for me also means the best deals for her; someone who can explain those things that go on in the literary world that you might not understand and who has your best interest at heart. That way I can write to my heart content and not worry about all the other stuff.”

Great, great advice, Brenda!

And guess what? Brenda has a new book out!!!

They had a hot, fleeting affair Farrah Langley has never forgotten. Attorney-to-the-rich-and-famous Xavier Kane was tender, sexy, attentive—and ravished her body. Everything she ever wanted in a lover. Getting together with him again in New York is a fantasy come true. She certainly doesn’t expect the footloose bachelor to change his ways. And the burned-by-love mediator isn’t looking for forever.
But Xavier is.

There’s something about Farrah…something that touches him deep in his soul…something that keeps him coming back. So when fate brings them together again, Xavier’s ready to pick up where they left off. But this time around, he wants more. Can he convince the lean, leggy beauty that he’s finished playing the field? That he wants only one woman in his bed, in his arms—in his heart?

Brenda’s also giving away a backlist title (US shipping only) to one lucky commenter. Post away!

Julie Leto

JulieBy all reports, Julie Leto was a sweet child once, somewhat shy, preferring to play quietly in her room making up stories. However, being raised with three brothers in a loud, primarily Italian household did have its influences and Julie discovered her inner tough girl. That’s probably why most of her heroines kick serious butt. Writing sassy heroines has worked out, as she’s sold over forty books to four publishers featuring strong, confident women. Julie lives in Florida with her daughter, a spoiled dachshund, a haughty lynx-point Siamese and a wide range of relatives all within driving distance.

    Hi Brenda!
Loved the series you did on the Steele family! Quade’s Babies was my favorite.
I’m looking forward to reading Bachelor Unleashed!

My only regret is that Quade’s Babies was not a longer book, but I enjoyed Quade and his triplets. Thanks for reading my books!

I had so much fun writing Xavier’s story. I had introduced him in one of my books a few years ago and always wanted to do his story.

I’d never written a book where it started out with the couple having a “lead-to-no-where affair, so it was fun to explore that kind of relationship.

Definitely words of wisdom–I’m going through the big agent hunt thing again right now. It’s SO important to have the right person by your side in this business!

I’m back! Thanks for the advice on getting an agent, Brenda. I’ve heard so many different opinions on whether one should or shouldn’t. As a newbie, this sort of info is great to learn now, so that I could be forearmed, if you will, when I am ready for that stage of my career as a writer.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.
