I Have a New Found Respect For …
Carly Icon

Strippers! Seriously.

Let me backtrack and explain. I have a close friend – we all have them – the friend you can’t say no to – because she’s just so persistent and because she’s a good friend. So this friend went to a Juvenile Diabetes Auction (great cause) and purchased a group Pole Dancing Class at a place called The S Factor in New York City. There were 10 of us. We argued. We begged. We bitched and moaned. To be honest, we did NOT want to go Pole Dancing.

We went Pole Dancing. I swore I would be the group photographer – as in I’ll watch and you all dance and I’ll snap pics on my camera. But in the end, not only did we go, we took the class – I took the class – and then yep, I got on the pole. I’m sure it was ugly. Silly. But fun. Once or twice. I wouldn’t do it again.

But for those who do? Whew are they amazing. It takes a huge amount of upper body strength and talent! Not to mention coordination and self confidence. I’m definitely glad I tried this once in my life. But I won’t be doing it again, LOL!

Would YOU give it a try? In front of 10 of your friends? Even if it WAS kinda dark …!

Now a special THANKS!
KISS ME IF YOU CAN has hit all sorts of Bestseller lists from Borders, to Barnes and Noble, to USA Today to New York Times!!!!! Thanks! :thankyou:
And I’m still waiting for more questions for our August 31 Bookclub!

Carly

CarlyCarly Phillips would like to take 100% credit for all her stories but the truth is, Carly’s strength is writing family, emotion, funky elderly people and animals. She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Because writing doesn’t keep her busy enough, Carly is also a wife, a mother of one preteen and one teenage daughter, the primary care giver of her soft coated Wheaten terrier and an expert carpool mom.

Oh, I hope someone took a photo of YOU on the pole!! :rotfl1:

But I agree, it does take a lot of strength to be able to do what they do. I’ve known a few strippers in my wild days (male and female) and I wouldn’t want to get into a fight with them on the other side. They make it look easy and it isn’t. I tried to hold myself up on one onetime and just slid right down onto my butt. Not good cause I’m no weakling either. It’s like doing chinups but with a whole new exercise thrown in!

I still have to read Kiss Me, but it’s on there!!

   Congrats on making up there in sales Carly. BTW… I am on chapter 4 of Kiss me if you can. :D
:hide: As far as pole dancing goes… I don’t think ANTONE needs to see me doing anything even close to that(Including me.)
Besides the embarrassment of it all, I would NEVER have the nerve to even try. Knowing me I would fall flat on my rear and hurt something in the process.
I guess the inner vixen :domainatrix: in me is too chicken to try anything like that.

congrats on the book. I can’t wait to read it. I don’t think I would go out of my way to try pole dancing, but if it came up and some friends invited me along, sure I’d probably go.

Sure I’d do it, if for no other reason than a good laugh LOL. Sometimes you gotta make a fool out of yourself and just let it go. Sounds fun, actually. Good for you Carly!

A group of my friends wanted to take a class and wanted me to go. I was like, “I’ll just skip it, thank you”. Totally not me. I have no upper body strength, so I’d be the wrong person to do it!

I got an amazon certificate, so I ordered it last week. As soon as it comes, I’ll read it. Whoot!

You did it! Sounds like fun, but I wouldn’t pole dance voluntarily. I think I would have to be seriously drunk to attempt it, which might not be such a great idea.

Congrats, on hitting the big lists, Carly.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

 Awesome that you are getting on all those best seller lists! :threecheers  Glad to know many are :reading:

At this point in life I don’t think I could stay on the pole!! When I was younger doing areobics 4 days a week plus weights & other good things I would have loved to try! No one was doing it then!!! I bet you all had a good time.

Congratulations on the best seller list.

I think the only way I might get on a stripper pole is if I had a nice drink to loosen me up a bit. :cocktail:

Congrats on both the book lists and the pole dancing!

I don’t think I can do any pole dancing because I don’t have the upper body strength. Also, my friends are not the type to want to do this. However, if they were to do so, I’d definitely join them just to watch them if nothing else.

Oh, yes, I would definitely give pole dancing a try in front of 10 of my friends! Even though I’m lacking in coordination, upper body strength, and talent in that particular area, I think it’d be a great, fun way to exercise and I’m always looking for exercise that doesn’t feel like exercise!

Congrats Carly! :cheer: I’m ashamed to say I don’t have it yet,but the weekend’s here,so I’ll be hitting the stores. As for pole dancing, sure I’d give it a whirl if it was just my friends there. I’ve been trying to get back in shape and regular exercise is just so boring. The pole dancing sounds like a lot of fun!!

Last time I met my across-the-country-from-me friend in Vegas, we were going to do the pole dancing class they have near the casinos. Unfortunately, they were full so we’re going to try again when we go in December. I think it will be great fun! And good for you for going.

*I think I need to lose a bit more weight before then though…*
