But that’s not what I’m going to talk about! Yeah yeah, I had to remind you, of course, but I’ve already beat you over the head enough. Either you’ll pick up the book or you won’t. I hope you will and you’ll also send me READER’S GROUP QUESTIONS for our August 31st bookclub!
Today we’re going to talk about faces. Why? My youngest has been asking to have the bump on her nose fixed and after research, doctor appointments, and much angsting, we agreed. And it’s today! So if you don’t hear from me during the day that’s why. Now I admit to being someone who, though I have my own hangups and issues, never thought about changing how I look. It’s a little overwhelming to me to think of doing it and knowing you’re going to live with it for the rest of your life. And though teenage years are young to make the decision, my daughter is mature enough to know her mind, and we understand the reasons and believe she is doing the right thing, so we are supporting it. Me? I’d rather write about people who look a certain way and live vicariously through my characters. But I give my daughter a lot of credit for being brave and knowing her own mind. And for those who wonder why I’m discussing it so publicly, well suffice to say she’s had a Facebook countdown for weeks, and she’s told the entire world she’s having it done. No secrets here, LOL!
I’m not going to ask what you think about plastic surgery because it’s a personal choice and we’ve made ours. But I do wonder how many people (whether you would actually do it or not) would LIKE to change something? I’ll go first … if I were going to do anything … I’d want stomach lipo … and for someone to give me a real waist. Oh and if they wouldn’t mind knocking off a few pounds permanently, I’d like that too. Around the middle if possible.
Yeah like I said, we all have our hangups. So in the best of all possible worlds, what would YOU change about YOU?

Carly Phillips would like to take 100% credit for all her stories but the truth is, Carly’s strength is writing family, emotion, funky elderly people and animals. She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Because writing doesn’t keep her busy enough, Carly is also a wife, a mother of one preteen and one teenage daughter, the primary care giver of her soft coated Wheaten terrier and an expert carpool mom.

OMG where do I start? LOL. I’m not really a big believer in plastic surgery, but I’d like to look pretty. I’d start with my nose, my hair, my teeth. Most days I deal with how I look and I don’t let it consume me, but sometimes I just want to be pretty LOL.

Congrats on the book release. I’m sure it will be a huge hit and I can’t wait to read it. My husband had his ears fixed a few years ago. We’ve been together for 23 years and the fact that his ears stuck out never bothered me, but I know it always bothered him. The doctor did a great job, but to be honest, I don’t really notice a difference (they don’t stick out at all any more, but he still looks the same to me…which is probably kind of weird). I think if you have something that really bothers you and can be fixed, go for it. But not to the extreme like that reality person who had a whole mess of surgeries in one day.

If I can ever lose the steroid induced weight that I have gained, I want a boob reduction. Ever since 6th grade when everyone else was in a training bra and I wasn’t. They hurt and now that I am much older, they ain’t where they used to be. So yeah, a bood reduction. I give your daughter a lot of credit for knowing what she wants and going through with it. You will have to let us know how she is doing??

I had the same thoughts as Stacy….where to start!
If there was no pain involved, I’d have thigh, butt and stomach lipo. I had braces a few years ago to fix crooked teeth and I’m so glad I did it. I’d always been so self-conscious when I smiled, and it’s really nice to not even think about it anymore.
Good luck to your daughter!!

I’d have a breast reduction in a minute if I could afford it! It’s really not easy carrying these things around, and I know that’s added to the strain on my back over the years.
Congrats on the release, Carly, I know this is going to be a big success!

I would love what they are calling the “Mommy makeover”. I think it includes a breast lift and tummy tuck. After 3 babies (3 boys all over 10lbs!) I feel like I’ve wilted.
Fully clothed no one can tell but it bothers me. Since number one son leaves for college in a few weeks, I might actually give it some serious consideration.

I’m loving the book so far….I’m on Chapter 6.
As for plastic surgery, I’d love to have a breast lift! After 3 kids my girls have really fallen south. Like they say, the bigger you are, the harder they fall!
Comment
I think it’s funny none of us want bigger ones!!! Just lift em back where they belong!
I’m with Les, these things are literally a pain in the back, neck and shoulders. You can get the insurance to pay for it if the Dr. says it is medically needed.

My hubby would want bigger ones for me.
I refuse!

Tell him to get his own!!

I would love to be able to have my teeth fixed and maybe the girls lifted back in place!! Don’t believe anyone that says small boobs don’t sag, they do!!! I feel for any of you ladies with large boobs that cause back problems. People really do not realize what carrying that extra weight is like and that includes me. The only reason I have even a hint about it is through good friends that were very generously endowed.
Everyone have a great day.
My copy of Kiss Me If You Can is on its way. I’m impatiently waiting to have it in my hands.

At almost 70 yikes, gravity would certainly work against anything they tried to lift.
I have however gloriously reached the time
in my life where I am happy with who I am and how I look is second.I do have the great blue eyes and silver hair
Zoey however needs teeth work and a serious grooming after romping thru the woods for 3 weeks.
no I am not a dentist
Now if I was young I’d always go for the teeth first. NoThInG beats a wonderful smile

I would have my nose done and have the corners of my mouth altered so they turned slightly upward rather than down. I’d get porcelain facings on my teeth.
That’s about it for now but I’m sure I can think of some other things too given time.

I am with Ev I would like my boobs to be put back about 25 years to the before nursing two baby stage. If I could have a tummy tuck and a butt lift that wouldn’t leave scars I would so do it.
Carly, my brother had the same bump on his nose that your daughter has. He got it removed had a little reshaping done when he graduated high school. It really helped boost his self confidence that was over 20 years ago.

It’s just me again! I had to let you know my copy of Kill Me If You Can came in the mail today! Yea!
I’ll probably be reading it over the weekend while I am pet/house sitting. Can’t wait to get started.

My shoulders! For my size I have whopping shoulders…there’s no fix for that though so I’m outta luck. I’ve learned to deal w/ the rest..

Congratulations on your new release! I agree with everyone in that it will be a great success.
I hope your daughter will heal soon and be happy with the results of her operations.
I for one, would line up right behind you for the tummy work. I might be young, but giving birth to four kiddo can do damage to anyones skin. For the moment, I think I’ll stick with that.

Hi,Carly! I’m with you-I want my waist back!!! After years and years of everyone telling me I was too skinny, people started asking when my baby was due. NOT good for the self-esteem! I would also have more work on my teeth. I had braces,so they’re pretty and straight, but there are a few irritating little things left to fix. And my boobs are fine when I’m sitting or standing, but I would like for them to stop falling into my armpits when I lay down!

I would totally go for lipo. Both my thighs and my stomach. Picked up my copy of Kiss Me If You Can at RWA this morning.

I would love to go for lipo on my stomach.
Comment
Thanks, everyone! She’s good, she’s home, she’s recuperating!
Comment
As for change?? I probably would go for the lipo too. I also would go for dental implants.
Comment
Hm, I’d say lipo and some dermabrasion/chem peel in certain areas (to get rid of scars and such). I like my teeth but perhaps an eye job to make them look more refreshed?

Glad to hear all went well, Carly!

I would want to get rid of the excess fat on my belly and thighs – however, the only reason that I can’t seem to get rid of that is because I’m not actively making an effort to exercise regularly.
The one thing that I would definitely change with my body given the chance is something that no surgery will fix. I suffer chronic pain in my right ankle and ideally I would love to eliminate the pain.
Its good to know that your daughter is home and recovering.

Glad your daughter is recuperating.
AS for me the bags under my eyes bother me and maybe a tummy and chin tuck wouldn’t hurt either. The list could go on and on. LOL.
Thought I posted already, but I guess not – maybe a mind tuck too – HEEHEE.
Comment
I would definitely get my tummy done big time.
The older I get the harder it is to loose that weight. Actually I need my boobs to my butt done.

Glad to hear your daughter is at home and the surgery was a success.

Good luck to her! I had skin cancer on my nose over the winter, had the spot removed along with 3 layers of cancer. I’m think ok they will sew it back up and I won’t be able to sneeze for a few years but whatever. No they tell me I have to go right over to a plastic surgery. He really was a nice guy waited for me while he was late to a meeting. He looks at my nose and say oh we need to do a skin graph (I’m thinking now my ass is going to be on my face GREAT) but he took the skin from behind my right ear, you know the side I sleep on that didn’t happen for a while. I had a reaction to the pain meds and it hurt so after months of seeing the Dr. I told him he cured me of ever having a face lift the pain so not worth it.

If I could change anything, I would add two to three inches in height — currently my bermuda shorts fit like capris and my capris fit like pants.

boob lift…definitely a boob lift. Not made bigger or small…just not show how much gravity and breastfeeding took it’s toll on me…lmao. It’s even worse now because hubby and I started dieting and walking the first week of March and I’ve lost 55 lbs as of yesterday….and you can tell in the boobs….lol….So I’d like to fix that.

I am a little bit behind on my blogs… I wish you lots and lots of wonderful luck with this book. I bet it is just flying off the shelves..
