I am in Canada this week, visiting my wonderful cousin and her family–who is like a fifth sister to me. So far we’re having a wonderful time. The drive up was a bit longer than we’d anticipated (Mapquest said 7.5 hours…it was closer to 9. Tons of construction, ugh!) We’ll be here until the end of the week and are looking forward to going to Canada’s Wonderland theme park with the kids. I’m also really excited that we’ll be going to the Harlequin offices today. Bruce and I are going into the city and will be getting to visit my editor and all the other great folks at Harlequin. It’s always fun to see what’s going on behind the scenes…I especially love going into the meeting room with a HUUUUUGEE wall of bookcases filled with copies of ALL their books. Pretty cool!
Being this close to Harlequin’s headquarters might have been the reason for one thing I’ve noticed up here. Harlequin/Silhouette titles are carried everywhere! Much better stock than in stores in the U.S. I’ve found my Showcase title in every grocery store, Wal Mart, and bookstore I’ve entered since I got here. (Hence my “stealth” signings.
A few other tidbits:
I still haven’t gotten my author copies of COLD SIGHT, so major apologies to everyone waiting for a copy. I will still send them as sooon as I get them (hopefully they’ll be there when I get home.) Major apologies for the delay.
Speaking of COLD SIGHT…if you’re interested in reading a longer excerpt, be sure to subscribe to “A Week Of Romance” newsletter. A long, 1500 word excerpt will arrive in your email box every day this week, so you’ll get a nice long sample to decide whether you’d like to read the book. (And I hope you will!) You can get more info here: http://aweekofromance.com/
Also speaking of COLD SIGHT…it will be in stores in ONE WEEK! WAHOO!!!! I know it’s already starting to show up in some stores and I am so excited. I can’t wait to hear what you all think. I truly apppreciate the great reviews and mentions and blog spotlights some of you have already done to help me get the word out about this book. You all know how disappointed I was that the Black CATs series didn”t do well enough to get continued, I am hoping and praying that this will turn out differently and I can keep writing these mysterious, exciting books. So if you read COLD SIGHT and you like it, I do hope you’ll recommend it to other readers who like dark romantic suspense!
Many MANY thanks!

Leslie Kelly used to say she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up, but then she discovered Nancy Drew books. Being a flashlight-under-the-covers-nose-in-book reader throughout her childhood, she couldn’t think of anything else she’d rather do as an adult than continue to lose herself in fictional stories. Her real life marriage of 20 years to the man of her dreams is a constant reinforcement that happily-ever-afters really can happen…and that they’re worth writing about. Living in Maryland, Leslie spends her non-writing time laughing a lot with the above-mentioned romance hero and their three daughters. Though an author of more than thirty sexy, contemporary comedies, she has recently branched out to write dark romantic suspense under the pseudonym Leslie Parrish.

It just KILLS me that the Black CAT series is over! I loved it SO much, and wanted to find out more
Yes, please let’s keep this series going. I will probably have a contest in July for a copy of it. Stay tuned
Sounds like you’re having a blast Leslie. Btw I’ve seen a few of your books at KMart recently. Tres cool.

Hey Les, have a great time at the “office”. I think I would pass out to see a big shelf such as you described…it’s my dream to have a room filled with books just like that. Have fun at the theme park. I am waiting patiently for CS to show up in the stores near me. It will probably be soon.
I believe in my heart that you will get to finish the Black CATs series. They were too good for them to just cut you off like that. So, I am not giving up on those bad boys.
Safe travels on your return trip back.
Peace and love,
Paula R.

It sounds like you’re having a wonderful time up in Canada. Enjoy your visit to the Harlequin offices and give Brenda a big “HI” for me. :-)
Take care and can’t wait to read Cold Sight. The super fantabulous cover alone will have readers grabbing it off the shelf.

Enjoy your vacation in Canada. I personally am still holding out hope for more Black CAT books. I love that series so much! Cold Sight is already on my TBB list. Hope Cold Sight does well so we can get more books in this series too.

Cher, your right! The cover is attention grabbing to say the least. My husband, who rarely says anything about books, commented on how hot the guy was. He left me stunned!
Leslie, I hope you enjoy the rest of the week and have a great visit with your editor. Ummm…is there anyway you could sneak a pic of those bookshelves?
When all the fun is had…I hope you have a safe trip home!
Now I am going to sign up for those excerpts!

Leslie, have a good day at Harlequin. I hope you & the family enjoy the rest of your time in Canada. Next time I am at Border’s I hope to get a copy of Cold Sight. No more Black Cats, not fair!
Sometimes it is so hard to understand why they don’t want books that were so good. I’m sorry they were not all best sellars.

Why do I have the urge to stand up and sing “Oh Canada”? Too weird. Enjoy the trip and I can’t wait. I was an “early adopter” of COLD SIGHT and can’t wait to read the finished version! This series is going to rock. Big time.
I’m still holding out hope for the Black CATS. Having two of the books final in National Readers Choice Awards should say something to the publisher! Especially given the competition in that category. Just sayin’….
Safe trip home.

Leslie, even if I had never heard of you and didn’t know what rockin’ awesome books you write, I would buy this book! What a cover—and the whole “extrasensory agents” grabbed me immediately. I love it!

You’re probably right about there being everywhere because the headquarters are up there….but I still don’t think that that is fair…but heck…life ain’t fair so we’re all used to it. Tell me though….are their copies like ours or like the ones in England because England and Canada are more related than Canada and the US?… you know what I mean? Like The Mills and Boon types or covers ect? always wondered because i’ve never been to canada…lol

I am so disappointed that The Black Cats is not going to continue. There were so many story possibilities and once again, some idiot breaks my reading heart. I can’t wait for the new book. Anyway you can slide some of the Black Cats into those stories??? Just a thought and a hope.
Have a good time!
