Because I have a brand new book in stores now, I’ve been spending a lot of time online, making the blog rounds and doing a stint at eHarlequin and various other promotional activities in hopes that it will remind, cajole, convince, inspire and otherwise influence readers to spend their hard earned dollars on a copy of said book.
In that pursuit, I have called upon the jungle dwellers to pop on over to where ever I am. And wow, have you guys ever come through.
THANK YOU!!!
So far, the reviews have been pretty darned awesome and there’s nothing better, really, than knowing that my hard work has resulted in a couple of hours of enjoyment for the people who put their faith in me enough to buy a copy. I couldn’t really let any time pass without expressing my gratitude.
And also, I want to remind you all that June 28th will be our book club day here in the jungle so we can discuss the book!
But we need to decide how to do this bookclub. Should I come up with questions? Like three questions, one for each story? Should I post them ahead of time, so those of you who have read the books will have a chance to think about your answers? How much should I participate?
I need input! I’ve never done this before on a blog. I’ve done a couple of bookclubs in person and frankly, the best part was getting questions from the readers. They have never failed to ask me questions I never would have thought to ask.
So…maybe it’s one of each? Like, I post three questions and anyone who wants to answer one (or two, or all three) must then ask ME a question?
Too confusing?
If you haven’t gotten a copy yet, do pop over to your favorite retailer. The books should be in stores for at least another week. The Blazes, I’ve noticed, have been double (if not triple pocketed) in some places, so if you see a June Blaze–but not MY June Blaze, just look behind the others. They might be in there!
So…book club. How should we do it? Ideas? Suggestions?
EDITED TO ADD: OMG! I totally forgot that the amazing, wonderful readers at FRESH FICTION chose me to be their Pick of the Day today. Click on the link to see!

By all reports, Julie Leto was a sweet child once, somewhat shy, preferring to play quietly in her room making up stories. However, being raised with three brothers in a loud, primarily Italian household did have its influences and Julie discovered her inner tough girl. That’s probably why most of her heroines kick serious butt. Writing sassy heroines has worked out, as she’s sold over forty books to four publishers featuring strong, confident women. Julie lives in Florida with her daughter, a spoiled dachshund, a haughty lynx-point Siamese and a wide range of relatives all within driving distance.

That’s awesome Julie, but of course you know everyone here adores all the Plotmonkeys. I hope to order & read a copy before the big day.
I’m thinking the day is going to be a blog post with an open forum about the book, allowing those who haven’t read it to skip it to avoid any possible spoilers? I’m not very quick thinking, so I’m probably the last person to ask.

Stacy~ Thanks! I feel the love here all the time, but I’m also aware that it’s above and beyond to click a link and leave a comment on somewhere that isn’t a regular stop…we’re all busy! I just want to make sure everyone knows that I truly appreciate it when they do.
Hmm…I’ve never worried about spoilers, but that’s a good point. We can keep the discussion to the comments section, so if people don’t want to read them, they don’t. (Although I suppose the same could be said for the blog…I’ll make sure to put in a warning.) I guess I just don’t see this as the kind of book that has spoilers, LOL! It’s not like Harry Potter or Twilight.

Got the book. Read the book. It totally rocks!!
And I’m not just saying that because I like you or because you’re a friend. Because you ought to know that I’m brutally honest — its part of my charm.
Seriously, this book is REALLY good especially when you consider the limited space you had for each story — each story still has just the right amount of depth to it.
Comment
Your brutal honesty is definitely part of your charm! I really, really happy that you enjoyed the book. You’re a tough customer.

I got the book and read it over the weekend. I had read the prequel online and thoroughly enjoyed both the story and book.
As far as a book club discussion, I don’t know as I’ve never participated in one.
Comment
Andrea, thank you for reading the whole story and purchasing the book! It’s very much appreciated.
Comment
I ordered the book. I think you should do 2 or 3 questions. I won’t be online that day, but I’ll catch up later in the week or so.
Comment
Thanks, katie! I’ll make sure to keep checking comments on the post beyond that first day because there might be a lot of people who won’t necessarily be able to do it on that very day, esp. with so many vacations coming up.

I think I won a copy of that book. Julie, what is the special e-mail address to send my address to you? As far as book club, I’ve never participated in one. Your suggestion of 3 questions sounds like fun. :-)

I think you’re on target with 3 questions, then maybe leave it as an open forum for the readers to comment.
Comment
Yeah, that’s seems to be the general consensus. Yeah! Agreement!

Hey Jules, just so you know…even when you are not blog hopping and “traveling” all over, the LOVE is still there mi amiga.
I have been in book clubs before, and it varies depending on the make up of the group. However, I like your suggestion of 3 questions for the readers, as a way to begin discussion let’s say, then, as others suggested, an open forum with people who ask questions. Or to make your life easier, you could do the posting of the questions thing first and have us post our q’s beforehand so that you have a chance to answer them.
Hmmm…this would be a perfect time for a chat, but then things could get crazy there. Something to think about for future I guess. I am rambling. Sorry. I am really excited about this event.
Peace and love,
Paula R.

Gracias, Paula!
You guys can just post questions as they occur to you. I plan to be around all day, so coming up with answers won’t be a problem. Of course, I may need to re-read the book myself so I can remember the details! Seems like so long ago…or maybe it’s just my memory. (Not implying I don’t remember the stories, I do…but the details?) Oh, well, I have a copy right here I can look up!

I like this format too. I can’t wait. I am thinking I have to do more than one reads too.
Peace and love,

I like the idea of you posing a question about each story, which can open up the discussion and then people who respond can ask questions of you, for you to respond to as well as jumping into the various threads of discussion. I have the book on my Kindle. I plan to wait a bit to read it so it’s fresh in my mind for book club. I think it will be a fun day!
Of course, I may just have to peek at the book…then reread it for book club!
Here are some rules I came up with:
#1 – The first rule of Book Club is, you talk about Book Club.
#2 – The second rule of Book Club is, you DO TALK about Book Club.
#3 – If someone says BRB, AFKs, hasn’t read the book, they can start over or catch up.
#4 – Three stories to a book.
#5 – One book at a time.
#6 – No shirts (heroes), no shoes (readers).
#7 – Books will go on as long as they have to.
#8 – If this is your first day at Book Club, you have to comment.
(With insincere apologies to the writers of Fight Club!)

Whenever you want to read the book is fine by me. I hardly ever re-read books anymore, but if you’re so inclined, I’m not going to complain!
Comment
Aww Silver–wonderful. I have never seen fight club, but I love your summation of both book club and fight club.
I concur with the idea of one question per story and then open discussion. I am sure if there is waning of conversation, we can input a few questions of our own.
Comment
Okay, but that means you guys are promising to jump in if there’s a wane! I guess my biggest fear is that the conversation will be one-sided, LOLOL!

that’s funny! I always worry I chat/write too much

Congrats on being today’s pick at Fresh Fiction! I got my email first thing this morning, but this has been my first chance to head over.
I agree with posting 3 questions and seeing where it takes everyone. I have your book in my TBR pile, and will be moving it up very soon. I love the idea of a Bookclub and want to be ready.

Thanks, Liza! I’m looking forward to it, too!

Got a rejection from Jenny Bent today. That was quick!
It was a gentle rejection, nothing specific. At least it didn’t say, “You and your writing suck!”
