There’s something soothing to me about knowing there’s a snow day :snow:. A no school day. I love waking up and finding out the kids have no school and I can just go back to sleep. If I hear there’s a snow storm coming, I get excited about the possibility of being home with my family with nothing to do but watch TV, look out at the snow, and hang with the dogs, kids and hubby. I often think I’m supposed to hate the snow – after all – it’s cold and wet – but in truth, I hate rain. :rain: That’s cold and wet. Rain doesn’t give you a day off with your family. Snow lets you know you’re going to be in the house, safe, warm and snuggled in your pajamas. But if the weather people say snow and suddenly it becomes a half hearted effort, and the kids have to trudge out to school, and you’re driving in slush, then UGH. Suddenly that’s not my peaceful day at all!
Yesterday I had a meeting at the high school. I left the house and it was cold and raining. I got out of the car and it was hailing. Or was it sleet? I don’t know. I was pelted by hard, cold rock-like things on my way into the building. That’s no fun at all.
So today we’re expecting a huge snowstorm – today into tomorrow. By the time you read this I will know whether I have my :snow: day I love, or the UGH day I don’t. Same for Friday. I hope it’s a snow day. I can use a soothing, peaceful day!
PS – I tried to post pictures but I am having WordPress problems and it wouldn’t accept them.

I would love a few snow days! Sadly(?) we haven’t had bad enough weather. Plus, I literally live 5 minutes from work, so I don’t have any excuse not to be there. Bummer.
Enjoy your snow day(s)!

I do love a snow day, means no work and can sit on couch under a blanky and read. But then there is the shoveling…….
Enuf is enuf already – we are supposed to get more over the next few days – but maybe only up to 8 inches. Not sure if that is enuf for a snow day; will have to see.
Stay warm and safe everyone.

Hey Carly, I like snow days too, but mine are nothing like yours…LOL!!! We get stuck with the kids on dorm all day…16 of them…imagine that. And, we have to figure how to entertain a campus of 100+ kids…I only like snow days, when I don’t have to do anything. I don’t like rainy, dreary days either though…the cold and wet thing, really gets to me. I do love to watch snow falling like feathers from the sky though. And, I love looking at it from my nice cozy couch from my warm apartment. It is beautiful then, but having to go out and drive in it, makes me say blech! I hope you get your snow day. We are supposed to get hit with some of what you are talking about up here in the Quiet Corner some time today too…My aunt told me NYC will be getting sleet, and then snow…I will have to call to find out.
Peace and love,
Paula R.

:snowguy: Fingers crossed that you get your snow day.
Where I live it is just bone chilling cold and yesterday was wet and yucky.

Hope you get your snow days, Carly. I would love a snow day, but I still have to go to work when it snows, so not a fun time for me. Very few people in Nashville know how to drive on snow. Plus we usually get snow and then a layer of ice, so it isn’t as much fun.

But I don’t have to shovel the rain. I spent yesterday shoveling and snow blowing, then I headed to the Y to work out in the pool. I can barely move today. Thankfully we seem to be getting the rain and not the snow, at least so far.
I may just go to the pool and then the hot tub and die for awhile.

Hey, Carly, I used to feel the same way about snow, but the older I get, the more I dread it. Whenever my son says “snow” I tell him to “stop swearing!”
As for rain, I only like it when it brings thunder and lightning along with it!

I love snow days when it is only one or two in a row (and they announce the night before!). Last year, we had a two week storm series when the boys were home off and on (when they were at school, it was delayed). You never knew if it was school or not and THEN they were bored (it was right before winter vacation, I had no oven and they were bored). If I could have baked cookies or something, it would have been blissful, but no. And, in the PNW, we don’t have snow plows or anything, so one to two inches of snow, and the world stops, literally! We don’t live on a hill, so no sledding for us!

Now, we also have a Wii, so I could have had some entertainment. My two younger boys would start running circles around my house at 4 p.m. exactly. AUGH. It snowed the night before we were supposed to go back after break and I told my husband, “YOU are going to work, I don’t care!” (He was also stuck at home). He wasn’t impressed.

i love snow days too….yesterday was the best because the girls and I have all been sick….so we slept in…if you could call it sleeping..considering we’ve gone through 4 boxes of tissue’s already.ugh…
btw Karen…..can’t remember if I said it already or not…Amber’s got accepted into all her college choices…now it’s choosing….three are in NY…and one even awarded her the Dean’s scholarship and 48 k in money she’s still undecided….she’s feeling guilty about leaving…daddy…lmao…she was sure what she wanted (NY) until he said…you know if you go there you won’t be able to come home on weekends….lmao…. she’s definitely a daddys girl so this should be interesting…me…I’m staying out of it because I know no matter what….I’m gonna be bawling like a baby

Add some cocoa and marshmallows and I’m there! I do love any excuse to stay in with my girls. We sleep late, bake cookies, play board games, then run out for a snowball fight. Now that they are young adults we don’t get many opportunities to hang together, but we appreciate what we time we get to share.

I LOVE snow days too! Everything is hushed outside except for the wind. It’s wonderful. I love to be in my nice, warm house and watch the flakes fall.
Hope you get your snow day. We are supposed to get some snow today into tomorrow but just snow showers. We need a big storm around here.
Think snow! :snowguy:

Carly if you want a snow day you should have been in PA a few weeks ago….you would have had 7 of them!!! :snowguy: We had a week of Hell! Trees falling no power for days, roofs collasping, it was AWFULL! We had a total of 24 inches! I agree with ev, you don’t have to shovel rain! I have had my fill of snow and shoveling! Hurry spring hurry fast!!!!!! I will take rain any day over snow! :rain:

Hi Carly. I’m in southern NJ and we have a snow day today and most likely tomorrow. It’s supposed to snow until Friday around noon. I feel the same way you do. I would rather have snow than rain. I don’t like driving in the snow so I have an excuse to stay home and not go anywhere. I work for a school so I get paid snow days off – woohoo. It was great to get up this morning and tell Laurie she could stay in bed.

I loved snow days as a kid. As a mom? Not so much! I get so much more done when I’m alone and only have to fend off the Newfies and the lolcat. We’ve had so many snow days this year, local schools are talking about Saturday classes and going until June to make up for them. Glad The Only is in college now. They don’t worry about making up classes.
:snowguy: Global warming? Can’t prove that by our weather!

Carly,
I hope you get your snow day. :snowguy: My part of the world would come to complete standstill if we got snow!! Long ago I did live somewhere that got snow maybe once or twice a year, I loved it!
What I love is that it is so quiet, maybe because people tend to stay home so there are no traffic noises. Many years ago I took a trip to Reno it snowed up over the Sierra’s & in Reno it was so beautiful it was like living in a post card picture.
The rain I can live with, it is wet but it is only water & it won’t hurt you. Generally it isn’t terribly cold when it rains, cool maybe!! :rain: We have a big storm coming in tomorrow. I love curling up with a good book on a wet, gray day. It is cozy. As Ev says, you don’t have to shovel rain!!

Hi Carly!
I’m up north of you. I love snow days, too! I love sitting inside wrapped in a blanket watching the snow fall outside. But something about my children having a snow day off from school makes me totally unproductive. They were off yesterday, they’re off today, and will most likely be off again tomorrow. And I haven’t written a word in my WIP! (But I’m half done with Jennifer Crusie’s Agnes and the Hitman!)

Snow days..hum I remember then as a kid.

I love snow if it stays in the yard and not on the road. That’s why I can’t live up north. Brrrrrr…We did get 3-4 inches this month when we had our snow yr (3-5 yrs). I live in middle GA and just wish we had more spring and fall and less winter.

:snowguy: We really don’t get snow days here in the Sierras. They only closed school once when I attended…to shovel off the roofs because the snow load was causing buildings to collapse. Here, we’re lucky to get a snow ‘delay.’ They start school 2 hours late to give people time to shovel out and for the plows to get busy.
And while I love playing in the snow, I *hate* driving in it.

Carly I hope you got your snow day if you wanted it, as for me I am sick sick of snow and my work doesn’t give me a snow day so I am as excited for it to come anymore. I am So ready for spring… It would be nice just to have a couple days off to do nothing and not feel guilty about it.
Happy weekend!!!!!!!!!
