Wednesday Means More Books!
Julie Icon

Yes, the giveaways continue!

But first, a little housekeeping…

Last Wednesday’s winners (announced on Sunday) were Sandra Lynne, whose box is already prepped and ready for my next run to the post office, and #46, Jeanne. Jeanne…you need to email me your information by the end of the week, please.

Also, at Blazeauthors on Monday, I gave away two sets of four books–three Blazes and a copy of my one single title contemporary, MAKING WAVES. I haven’t heard from EITHER winner…they were:

#34 Sue Hussein
#17 Cathy W

Otherwise, all winners in recent weeks have had their packages shipped out, except for Karen from the 10th…not sure why that one is still in my to-be-sent pile, but it’s going out tomorrow.

Today, I have more Mills & Boon books! After yesterday’s homage to the contemporary romance, all but one of these are contemporary. There’s also a copy of STRIPPED, which is lightly paranormal. My heroine and her sister are both powerful witches…though my heroine has had her powers stripped (hence the title…love a great double entendre, don’t you?) for most of the book. It’s a great story, if I do say so myself. Well, even RT voted it the Best Blaze of 2007. I’m very proud of it! There are ten books in all, including my first six Temptations. Man, I miss that line.

TWO winners this week…US residents only. But remember, you have to come back on Sunday to find out if you’ve won!

To enter, answer the following question: Did you ever read any of old Harlequin Temptations? If so, can you remember any favorites? If not, boy did you miss out. Best books EVER in that line. :coffee:

Two of my favorites were Vicki Lewis Thompson’s LOVERBOY and Rita Clay Estrada’s THE IVORY KEY. Both are still on my keeper shelf…something I can verify because my closet is so clean now, I actually found them! Also, Jennifer Crusie’s GETTING RID OF BRADLEY. Remains with me. Awesome book!

Julie Leto

JulieBy all reports, Julie Leto was a sweet child once, somewhat shy, preferring to play quietly in her room making up stories. However, being raised with three brothers in a loud, primarily Italian household did have its influences and Julie discovered her inner tough girl. That’s probably why most of her heroines kick serious butt. Writing sassy heroines has worked out, as she’s sold over forty books to four publishers featuring strong, confident women. Julie lives in Florida with her daughter, a spoiled dachshund, a haughty lynx-point Siamese and a wide range of relatives all within driving distance.

Please don’t enter me in the contest, but yes, I do love those old Temptations. Several from the authors here :) One of my favorites is a regular re-read: His Double, Her Trouble by Donna Sterling. It still gets to me.

Donna Sterling was one of the first Temptation authors I ever met. A real classy lady. Loved her! I remember one book of hers I loved…it had a ghost and I think the heroine on the cover wore a blue dress. I can’t remember the title!

I was a really late bloomer to the Romance genre :doh1: I didn’t start reading romance until I was pregnant with my son in 2002 when I was 24

However, in my quest to hunt down all the books of the new authors that I found, I remember reading some of the older Temptations but the only author I can remember by name right now is Jayne Ann Krentz and I don’t even remember the title!

And of course now I know I missed out on some fantastic authors and stories! :hissyfit:

Hi, I have read HT’s but don’t know which ones. I have read many Crusie’s including Getting Rid of Bradley. I am lucky if I can remember what I read last week. LOL.

As always, great prize – still have a chance to win Seducing Sullivan and Private Lessons – HEEHEE. Maybe I will get lucky this time.

:groan: I have been reading Harlequin now for way too many years, so I don’t remember titles very well but I did love that series. I love all of Harlequin because it has exposed me to so many authors that I regularly read such as Carly Philips, Jayne Ann Krentz, Nora Roberts, Diane Palmer, Debra Webb, Leslie Kelly, Julie Leto, Linda Wisdom, and more. Keep up the good work ladies. You have enriched my life immensly. Thanks.

Hey Jules, I loved reading Temptations, but I can’t remember the titles. My older Hqn books are at my moms house and there are over 200 of them. I was a member of the HQN book club back in the day…remember when they used to send you a prize with each set of 4 books they sent you. I got a lot off wine glasses once time…LOL!!! I remember loving the Temptations that I read too. I wish they were here with me. I may just bring them back with me the next time I go to NYC.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

I checked my bookshelves again…found some…these books were Keepers for me… Les’s Two to Tangle and Janelle’s Christmas Fantasy (My Aunt “loaned” me these two, and I never gave them back. I also have a Thea Devine, Night Moves…this one was before the change over to Blaze…I loved this one back then because of the risk it took for Hqn to push a little harder into the world of sex on the pages rather than behind closed doors…it led to my discovery of your book “What’s Your Pleasure?,” which is one of my fave books of all time. I also have one by Jamie Denton…Valentine Fantasy. I knew if I looked again, I would find some. There are some other titles on the periphery of my memory, but I can’t snatch em up for you right now. I hope you have a great rest of the day.

      Peace and love,

Yes, I have read HT but can’t remember which ones. Years ago I kept a notebook with all the different series and wrote down each number as I read it. Reading has been my passion as long as I can remember. Love my public library because I sure couldn’t afford to support my “reading habit” if I had to buy all the books I read!

          Private Lessons!

I only HAPPENED to read in the paper about him doing an appearance at Sears, so I grabbed a book and a cover flat and waited in line to meet him. I gave him the book (signed to him) and he signed the flat. He even announced to the very large crowd that I was the author and everyone should head to the bookstore and buy a copy! It was very exciting. (I didn’t have a camera, btw. One of the women standing there took the picture and sent it to me. Nice, yes?)

A year ago, he was on the Ellen show and they not only brought the cover up, but Ellen read a sexy excerpt. I got a bunch of phone calls and emails. It was fun! He actually did four or five Temptation covers around that time, including one where they made him look blond!

You know, I really don’t remember. I tend to get “brain fuzz” when I go on a reading binge, and then I’ll try to tell someone about a book and say things like “You know, the man was an executive and he was all hot and brooding and then there was the heroine, she was excellent–I think it was in Seattle…” yeah. Which is not so helpful. But the giveaway looks awesome!

Sorry to say I missed out on the Temptations. I’m pretty new to the romance genre–about 3 years–so I’m sure there’s a lot of great books out there that I’ve missed. (But I’m reading as fast as I can to catch up!) :reading:

Julie I am so glad to hear that an author misses the Temptation line, I loved those books! Still have a number of keepers. Those books introduced to me to all of you :monkey: :monkey: :monkey: :monkey: for which I am ever grateful. Temptations by several favorite authors are The Buckhorn Brothers books by Lori Foster, several books by Leslie, Jill Shalvis, Mr. Valentine by Vicki Lewis Thompson, also Tori Carrington & those are books I could easily see in my stacks of books!! Now I’ve stirred up dust bunnies that need to be eliminated!! Don’t enter me in the contest because I probably have most of those or have read them. I also have all 4 of The Last Temptations & of course the last one is Leslie’s. That is a keeper forever! :applause: Thanks to all four of you for all the reading pleasure over all the years of romance reading.  :flowers4you: Please keep writing.

I actually went to a used book store looking for some last weekend and was told that they didn’t carry them anymore because Harlequin no longer publishes that line. :*&#!: I’m still looking for some of these older books, but don’t really know of a good place to find them.

I loved the Temptations & miss them so much. So great. So many faves I can’t think of them all, but, Crusie’s MANHUNTING (laughed like crazy about heroine’s “list” of requirements for her future boyfriend/husband) & Kent’s FOUR MEN & A LADY about a young woman who’s in a rock band w/guy rockers come to mind. Loved all of the Tori Carringtons (my lst author discovery which led to all 4 of you & many others).

I used to read tons of the old Harlequin Temptations. Nothing stands out in my mind in particular, but I did enjoy them! Like the previous poster, it’s no fault of the writers, but more a reflection of my mind! At the time I read most of these, I was in college majoring in microbiology & they were a wonderful stress reliever for me! I lived at the used book store so I could pick up more of these!

    Hi Julie,
I’m a little ashamed to say that I actually did not read any Harlequin romance until quite recently when I picked one up just because I wanted a shorter romance to read on a flight. I have definitely been missing out, because I loved it!
I haven’t read many older temptations, but I did read one by Jill Shalvis (Seduce Me) that I absolutely loved! I’ve read quite a few of her books recently and I love how funny and uplifting they are.
I would love to read some of your older works as well :)

I’ve been reading Harlequin romances since I was around 13 and I’m knocking on the big 5-0 now, so it’s difficult for me to remember titles. However, and I’m not sure if it was Harlequin Temptations, there is one particular story that remains in my memory. The heroine arrives in Spain(?) with the son of the hero’s brother. Her sister is the boy’s mother and both parents are deceased. Her hair falls past her hips but she keeps it up. She needs help raising the child and the hero is the only family left. He’s a stern, autocratic type and will only help if she lets down her hair and marries him. That’s all I remember, but the book was one I read in one sitting. Sorry I can’t remember the name!

did I read harlequin temptations….sorta like asking if the pope is catholic when it comes to me….back in the 80′s my grandmother read all the harlequin/silhouette books and then passed them onto me….. a lot I still have…. Alexandra Sellers (The Forever Kind) Vicki Lewis Thompson (Mingled Hearts) ( Promise me Sunshine)…umm…scratch that on Vicki…it’s easier to tell you that I have every book Vicki ever wrote…lmao…autographed…so needless to say I have a lot of earlier temptations… JOAnn Ross, Maris Soule, Lass Small, Cathy Gillen Thacker, and Rita Clay Estrada (I read her books because well…because her name was estrada and I’d make pretend that she was related to Erik Estrada…made the books extra worth reading….what can I say??? Any self respecting Puerto Rican was in love with Erik Estrada growing up…we used to joke and call him the king of Puerto Rico.. :hothot: :hothot: :hothot: …and if memory serves me correctly…but I don’t have them any more so I can’t go back and check…I even think I had some temptations by Jayne Krentz and Barb Delinsky before they got big….
BTW…the thing I love most about the older books like that??? The covers…the artists drawings have sure come a long way since then…LMAO.
So…answer to favorite Temptation…Anything that Vicki did…she is by far my all time favorite Temptation author from back then….and is still a favorite today.
