What a great blog! It doesn't hurt to see my name, and the names of all my friends and heroes mentioned several times, either.

I was always a ravenous reader but I didn't read my first romance until 2000. I remember discovering Jennifer Cruise, SEP, Susan Donovan, Carlie Phillips, Donna Kauffman, Maureen Child, Rachel Gibson, and Susan Mallery and it changed my life. I finally found books that made me feel good and laugh. I wanted to be part of that and started writing. When I began submitting Romeo, Romeo, everyone told me never to mention the words romantic comedy. *shrugs shoulders* I still can't understand why that is. In times like these, I can't think of one person who doesn't need a good laugh.

Everyone has listed such great authors! Makes me want to run to me keeper shelf and reread some of them right now! I love Christie Craig, Jill Shalvis, SEP, Susan Mallery, and Lori Wilde.
Just started reading Kate Angell and bought my first Rachel Gibson book last week. Robyn Kaye and Louisa Edwards are two more I really like. (Can't wait for On the Steamy Side!)
I read a book by Kimberly Fisk called Lake Magic that was very good. Wow, I've always considered myself more of a romantic suspense fan. Guess I didn't realize just how many contemps I enjoyed as well.

 The old Harliquin Romance use to have the same old plot. Girl meets boy, boy meets girl. Tongue tied, doesn't know there is any attatchment from the other. Bla bla bla. Then at the end the sparks fly and a new love is born to last forever. The characters were different with each book. Cowboys,French aristocrstes, firefighters, students, cops ect. The newer version is soo much easier to read and digest. I still love reading them but somehow they seem different than the ones back a few dozen years ago. Can't tell you any of my favorite authors as I LOVE to read and each book is my favorite!
Still love to read whatever the story line. :gimmehug:

To be honest I haven't read a lot in that genre but Jill Shalvis is one of my favorites and I've read more than a dozen of her books - all good. Get a Clue is my favorite.

Thank you Lynne for the positive feedback on my books! I really appreciate it. I have some exciting news to share - MAD, BAD AND BLONDE just got a highly coveted Starred review from Booklist.

I love the contemporary romance and that genre was the reason I started reading romance novels. Two other authors people should consider are Robin Kaye and Marie Force. On a side note, anyone that reads Kristin Higgins should know she only writes from the heroines point of view. In addition, those who are children of divorce should be forewarned that one of the plot lines in One of the Guys may make you uncomfortable. I share this as I wish I had known this before hand and had difficulty reading this plot line in light of my own history with the topic. Hope everyone is having a great day!!!!

Nooooo! I love those types of books. Books I can pick up and read on the run. Read when I need something light after a long day of teaching. You mentioned 3 of my faavorite authors. There are others too. I saw someone mention Susan Andersen. Keep writing this fun books to read.

Jill Barnett's Bewitching is also one of my favorites.
