OMG-LOST!!!
Leslie Icon

I’m getting SO excited…only one more week until the return of my all-time favorite TV show, LOST.

Lost

Carly and I have already started gearing up for our Lost nights—watching and then texting, im’ing each other during the commercials to immediately rehash what just happened.
Sayid
I don’t know if there are any other big Lost fans out there, and if you’re not, this post probably won’t interest you. (Or you won’t understand it….lol…Lost is one of those shows that leaves you scratching your head if you don’t stick with it.) But I suspect there are some more Lost junkies in the jungle, other than me and Carly, and I’ve decided to have a special Lost contest. I thought it would be really fun for us to give our predictions or theories  before the season starts, and then, when it’s over, see who came the closest to having the correct answers.

Below are a few questions. You have one week, until next Tuesday, Feb 2 (premiere night—yay!) to write to me at author Sawyer@ authorleslieparrish . com with your answers. Be sure to put “Lost Answers” in the subject line. I will hold on to every email and after the series ends in May, will announce who had the most correct (or close to correct) answers and theories. If I can’t choose a winner (because the answers could very well be open to interpretation) I’ll post the “closest” answers and will ask for help from regulars here in the jungle! The winner will get a single DVD set of a season of Lost (seasons 1-5, 6 isn’t out yet). Winner’s choice.

Meanwhile, feel free to toss ideas around here. I’d love to know what everybody else is thinking. Do you watch Lost? Have you stuck through it all 5 seasons, or have you missed any? What was your favorite season, and which is your favorite storyline/character/couple? Are you a Kater (kate-hater) like me? And do you love Juliet and Sawyer as much as I do?

And how do you WANT the show to end?
Jack Kate

As for me: I’ve watched every episode, have been addicted since the very first one with that amazing opening sequence of Jack waking up in the jungle after the plane crash. My favorite seasons were # 1 and # 4. My favorite couple is Desmond & Penny (and I am VERY afraid for Penny!) My fave characters are Jin, Hurley, Des, Sun, and Sawyer. I love Juliet and Sawyer as a couple and loathe Kate and Jack (don’t like them as a couple and don’t like them individually, so, I guess it doesn’t really matter if they’re a couple…lol!)

I have had a lot of theories over the years. In the first season, I thought for sure they Julietall died in the plane crash and were in Purgatory. Later, I decided they were in the Garden of Eden (taking the Adam & Eve thing very literally.) I began to think “the others” were the original crew of the Black Rock (still not sure about that one—I don’t think Richard was, but some of the others might have been.) Last year I got really interested in all the Egyptian mythology theory—that Jacob and his nemesis were ancient Egyptian gods wrapped in an eternal struggle between good and evil. I dunno, sounds possible. I’m open to anything here!

Okay, now, here are the questions…remember, send me your answers with the words “Lost Answers” in subject line, and be sure you get it to me before next Tuesday, Feb 2, 8pm EST. You do NOT have to answer all the questions…but the one with the most correct answers when all is said and done will win.

 Good luck!

Sun Jin
1. What happened after the explosion at the end of season 5?

 2. What do you think the “storytelling technique” will be this season? (IE: First few seasons were flashback, last few flash forwards. What’s in store for season 6?)

 3. What is the big secret of the island? (IE: What is it? Where is it? What is its power?)

 4. Who are Jacob and his “opponent”?

 5. Where has Claire been since she disappeared?

 6. Who will absolutely still be alive at the end of the show? (Name 2 characters you just know will make it)

7. Who is SO gonna die during this last season, or be dead by the time season 6 starts? (name 2 characters you just know will die)

 8. Who are Adam & Eve?Ben

 9. Which couple(s) will end up together and which won’t?

 10. Will the Losties get off the island? If so, how?

 11. Ben: Bad or good in the end?

 12. Who is Richard? (aka Eye-liner man!) Richard

 13. Spoilers and previews make it clear that Claire, Charlie, Libby, Michael and Boone will all be returning for season 6, despite their earlier “deaths”. Who else do you think will come back? How? (ie—timeline shift or flashback?)

14. Bonus question: Will Leslie ever stop hating Kate? (hee-hee)         Des

LeslieLeslie Kelly used to say she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up, but then she discovered Nancy Drew books. Being a flashlight-under-the-covers-nose-in-book reader throughout her childhood, she couldn’t think of anything else she’d rather do as an adult than continue to lose herself in fictional stories. Her real life marriage of 20 years to the man of her dreams is a constant reinforcement that happily-ever-afters really can happen…and that they’re worth writing about. Living in Maryland, Leslie spends her non-writing time laughing a lot with the above-mentioned romance hero and their three daughters. Though an author of more than thirty sexy, contemporary comedies, she has recently branched out to write dark romantic suspense under the pseudonym Leslie Parrish.

I don’t watch either. Right now I’m catching up on a bunch of shows but LOST isn’t one of them. I waver back and forth. People tell me Yes, watch it! or no, you’ll be, well, lost. So we’ll see. So far my life has been just fine without it LOL.

Sometime in the future, start renting the DVD’s, when you can watch the whole thing without having to wait EIGHT months between season! (Because once you get hooked, it really is hell waiting!)

I do watch it but haven’t seen season 5 yet. I am going to be tapping into Heahter’s Netflix so I can catch up. It accidentally got erased from the DVR. Oops.

I like Ben, bad or not. He is just so evilly fun. Kinda like Sylar on Heroes.

I never, ever count anyone out as dead in this show, but if Jack rolls over and tells Kate in the final episode about this dream he had, I will kill someone. :wallbanger:

Ev, I’m with you on both Ben and Sylar.

Actually, I loved Sylar when they started leaning toward redeeming him, hooked him up with Elle and made him HRG’s partner. Really loved those episodes. Then they made him irredeemable again…bummer. But I did enjoy the Sylar-Matt scenes this season!

I had to lol…my first contest entry was from CARLY!

See? I told you we’re addicted!

And everyone who has resisted watching it because you’ll feel “Lost” do yourself a favor once it’s all over and start renting the DVD’s from Netflix or something. Start from the beginning and watch it all the way through. It is SO worth it!

PS: Katie–I am the same way about Flash Forward. Already trying to figure it out and loving it for all the same reasons I love Lost. Except for the fact that Olivia is the same actress who plays Penny on Lost, which is why I am so scared for Penny!

She is the same actress? Which means that Penny (on “Lost” has a not so happy ending). I keep trying to explain to people about “FF” that I originally thought, “they’ll NEVER be able to make it into a series (ala “Lost”), it’s mini-series material”, but they have left it open enough that it will go beyond the ‘date’.

I freak out my husband because he loves sci-fi and I typically don’t. He always asks me “Why are you watching FF?”. Well, I started for Joseph Fiennes and stayed because it was interesting.

Yes, same actress. She was never a full-timer on Lost, though her character was really important, so I’m not sure if she’ll do cameos or not. Personally, I think she’s dead. Haven’t seen her character in a long time.

Interestingly, Katie, if you really like Flash Forward, you probably would like Lost. It is the most reminiscent show I can think of since Lost began. And, more and more, I’m thinking they are, essentially, “about” the same thing. I believe both shows are telling stories that are alternate spokes on the wheel of reality. IE: Everything that could ever happen, did happen, it just led to a different reality each time. (Remember that scene with Simon talking about the cat in the box? And remember when Olivia finds out she almost moved into the apartment where Lloyd Simcoe’s wife lived, and, if she had, maybe she would have ended up with him, and not with Mark? I’m wondering if in some alternate reality, that is *exactly* what happened, and that’s what she saw in her flash forward. Not her own future in this particular life, but in an alternate life she might have had but for making the decision to move with Mark to L.A.

        You see?

And I think Lost is operating on the same premise!

Those are my theories, anyway. I could be TOTALLY wrong…lol!

Big Lost fan here! I can’t wait to the premier next week. I was hoping my brother would still be here when it came back, since we both love it so much, but he just took an acting job and won’t be back until late-March. I’m just hoping Juliet survived the explosion so she and Sawyer can end up together. If they have to kill anyone off, I’m nominating Kate for the job. Her character is my favorite one to hate on the show.

Yay! Glad I’m not alone in hating Kate. I swear, she’s made of Teflon, everything just slides right off her! I mean, yes, she was tried for the death of her stepfather, but, hello, why wasn’t she charged in the murders of her co-robbers from the bank robbery? She was an accessory to the bank robbery, meaning she was an accessory to their deaths (if an accomplice dies in the commission of a felony, you can be charged for it, right?) But nobody has ever even mentioned it again! Grrr…

I’ve watched every single episode at least twice or as many times as needed in order to understand what I had just seen. Can’t wait for the last season. I’ve never really cared for the mythology of the island that much what I love are the character and the way that they have evolved over the past 5 seasons. I really want to know what happens to them, sure I would love to find out just wth is going on in that island but I’m more worried about what happens to my favorite characters. After almost every episode I feel like this.  :wallbanger: :boohoo: and I would not have it any other way.

Hey Les, this is a fun idea. I can sense the anticipation for this show. I won’t be taking part in this contest, but I am curious to find out how close everyone got. I must admit that I have never gotten into this tv show. There is so much hype about it now, and I am probably going to watch it some time soon…maybe I can catch the reruns on cable channels. Good luck to everyone.

Les, I am LOVING “Play with Me.” I am hooked, and do they still sell those books with the fantasies in them? Didn’t the Devine Sisters, if I remember correctly, have such a book? I really missed Leslie Kelly books. Great job!

Hey, I was flipping the channels just now, and I could have sworn that LOST was on. I think on ABC or something. Maybe it was last season, but they picked up some guy who was bleeding in one of those old VW vans from the 70s; blue in color. I used to love looking at those as a kid. Have a great rest of the night. Talk to you soon.

The Divine sisters, who were in my series Looking for Trouble and Up to No Good, did indeed have such a book…and it was used in a novella collection written by Carly, Vicki Lewis Thompson and Janelle. GREAT memory, Paula!!! That was in 2004, I think!

OMG I looooovvvvve Lost. So excited. Don’t think I’ll do well with the questions though. I think my favorite season was when they went home and had to lie about what happened and just seeing the transformations in everyone when they returned home. And I must say I never felt so connected to a character in that one instant that the boat exploded with Jin. Just the horror and tragedy that Sun felt. I felt for her. I’m better when they reveal something and I build on it, rather than come up with my own predictions. Maybe I’ll give it a whirl.
