Congrats to oldest, Carly! I feel your insanity. We leave at oh-dark tomorrow for a 1400 mile trek to the east coast of Florida followed by a 2-week cruise of the Caribbean, South and Central Americas, and then home after that 1400 mile trek back. I haven’t started packing. :hide: In the meantime, I finished my revisions, sent them off, and now have line edits. Guess what I’ll be doing in the car for the next two days!?!

My oldest daughter had some motivation issues her senior year of high school and almost didn’t graduate. My husband and I decided she wasn’t ready to go away to college until she grew up a bit and became more responsible. So we enrolled her in the local community college for a year. WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS. There is nothing worse than having an 18-year-old living in your house when she doesn’t want to be there, taking classes she hates because her awful parents, who know nothing, wouldn’t let her go away to the school she really wanted (regardless of the fact she didn’t have had the grades to get accepted). Oh….and she’s totally miserable all because of me!
On the bright side, if all goes as planned, she’s leaving for Pittsburgh in October! And while part of me is sad, a bigger part of me is ready to start packing!
Oooo congratulations to your oldest, Carly! That is something to consider, but happy news she got in!
And you poor dear, I hope you feel better soon!

A January start is a good thing in many ways- it gives the poor kid a chance to relax before the craziness starts. Mine took that first semester off and was all the better for it. Many of her friends did and had better luck than those starting in September. They were more prepared for it.
My Spawn has good news and I can’t share it yet.

Hope you guys get to feeling better soon! My son didn’t start his first semester of College untin January but it has worked out ok so far. He did take some classes at a local college for a while but he is still a little behind on where he should be! He does quite well except for Calculus and he keeps dropping that class but he has to have it for his degree!

Great for Jackie… Amber’s been dealing with all of that too…waiting to see with MIT, but has heard from RIT, WIT, WPT, and the other 3 she applied too…accepted at all so far…. now it’s just figuring out the scholarships and which is the best fit for her….I still say…go to UMASS…it’s 20 minutes away..and she won free tuition there….we’ll see….btw..why Jan???
