I’ve been struggling with a bad sinus infection for a week now. Started with a sore throat, then coughing, very little congestion (oddly) and a general inability to sleep. I’ve had to skip Jazzercise for going on a week, which on the upside, has allowed my plantar faciitis to heal up better than it has in months. The worst part of the cough is that it happens more at night, so I’ve been staying up until 3am, getting up at 10am and generally wreaking havoc with my schedule.
And it’s frickin’ cold. It’s Florida and it’s 32 degrees. That’s freezing, people. This is Florida. I thought about heading south to the Keys, but it’s in the 40s there, which is not much better and I’d bet most of their structures don’t even have heating.
What I figured out, much to my delight, yesterday was that several books that had been due to download to my Kindle were available, languishing in the Whispernet ether. I called Amazon and they fixed the glitch and KAZAM! I now I have five books loaded onto my reader! I can’t wait to get to them.
FORBIDDEN FALLS by Robyn Carr will be first up, followed by BATTLE OF THE LABYRINTH by Rick Riordan (which is for school, but also for fun because I love the Percy Jackson series.) Then debut novels by Carrie Lofty and Courtney Milan, and the second book by Victoria Dahl. I also have a few books on the reader that I’d meant to read before the holiday…all in my virtual TBR pile, which I must admit is much easier to manage than a real one.
So…what’s up for you, reading wise? What books are you chomping at the bit to read? Looking forward to? Which ones do you have in your possession that you can’t wait to get to?

By all reports, Julie Leto was a sweet child once, somewhat shy, preferring to play quietly in her room making up stories. However, being raised with three brothers in a loud, primarily Italian household did have its influences and Julie discovered her inner tough girl. That’s probably why most of her heroines kick serious butt. Writing sassy heroines has worked out, as she’s sold over forty books to four publishers featuring strong, confident women. Julie lives in Florida with her daughter, a spoiled dachshund, a haughty lynx-point Siamese and a wide range of relatives all within driving distance.

Julie, so sorry you’re sick. It’s never fun, no matter what it is.
Hmmm, so, so many pretty books. I have Courtney’s book, Lauren Dane’s Coming Undone, Chloe Neill’s Firespell, Monica Burns’ Kismet, to name just a few. I want them all!

Hope you feel better soon, Julie.
I’m currently reading The Phoenix Charm by Helen Scott Taylor. Over the weekend I got all of my books organized and discovered I have tons of books that I’ve never read. Not really sure what book will be up next.

So sorry you have a sinus infection, Julie. They are the worst. Hope you’re better soon. 32 is cold for Florida. I couldn’t believe it was in the 40′s the other day in Key West. Unheard of.
I’m actually reading “Hot Stuff” right now and loving it.
I’m also reading “Book in a Month” by Victoria Lynn Schmidt. I’m trying to up my book production this year. As far as what’s next in line, my TBR pile is huge so not sure.

Sorry you are sick, Julie…I have been fighting a sinus thing and a head thing for about a week, now. I am grateful that this is a three day weekend and I can rest (did I just say that, because the boys will be home).
I have been reading a lot of ‘Desire’ books…since there is nothing on tv (DWTS doesn’t come back until March and most of my shows are not back, yet)….reading has become my passion….I also just got some Vicki Lewis Thompson books…Love VLT!

Hi Julie!
Sorry you’re not feeling well. I had similar sympotms that kept me in bed for a week then left me exhausted for another week. I’m happy to say I’m now feeling better and hope you’ll be feeling better soon, too.
Quesion: Do you like the Kindle? It looks small. I’ve been thinking about getting one but I really don’t like reading books on my computer. Do your eyes hurt if you read for long periods of time? Do you need a light if you read at night? (Thanks!)
Re: Books I’m reading. I recently received books I ordered from eharlequin.com. Robyn Carr, Kristan Higgins, and Victorial Dahl’s new releases among them. I’m reading Victoria Dahl’s book first….I love her books.

Julie, what’s up with this crud?!? I’ve been fighting the same thing for weeks. I have to sleep all but sitting up and if I get hot, I get coughing spasms. And sneezing! Even when the temps were single digit. HOW can there be pollen? Gah!
I’m trying to figure out what books to download to the Kindle to take on my cruise. Hope you get to feeling better ASAP!

Hope you feel better soon Julie.
Currently I am reading Debbie Macomber’s “The Man You Will Marry” and I have Robyn Carr’s Forbidden Falls next and then a new book by Donna Kauffman (I can’t remember the name, it is a Trouble book.
)
Hope you enjoy your books. I want a Kindle but it has not been in the budget. I told my hubbie that it would save us money in the long run but he is not falling for it. LOL

I just got the Debbie Macomber book…I can’t wait to read it!

Julie, Feel better quickly. I developed my lst sinus infection, while on vacation in NYC & had to fly back with it, with insistent coughing & a temp. Got off the plane & ran right to doctor. They’re really bothersome.
Just finished FORBIDDEN FALLS–not your normal minister, &, like the others, love this series. Can’t wait for next month’s sequel, which I’ve already pre-ordered.
Am looking forward to Shalvis’ SLOW HEAT (in the baseball hero series); Nicole Jordan’s, TO TAME A DANGEROUS LORD; Sarah Mayberry’s HSR, HER BEST FRIEND (love her fun, relationship-based stories); & NR’s 3rd Wedding Quartet book, the latter already pre-ordered. Lots of good reading ahead.

I am sorry to hear you are feeling all ickpoo. I hope you are feeling better really soon!
My husband and I have had a cold for over a week now. Sounds like the same thing going around with you all too. We have to sleep sitting up too like SILVER JAMES said above.
Right, I can’t wait to read a lot of books on my TBR pile. FIRESPELL by Chloe Neill, THE SPY WHO WANTS ME by Lucy Monroe, and some others.
You take care Julie!

Hope you feel better quickly. I just purchased the KINDLE and downloaded a bunch of books. I am actually heading to Florida on Saturday – PLEASE WARM UP – I’m coming from New York. I just got Guilty Pleasure by Lora Leigh from Barnes and Noble – and that will be the book on the plane.

Julie, I am sorry to hear you are sick. I hope you feel better soon. How much longer is the cold spell suppose to last in Florida? Maybe if it warms up you will start to feel better.
I’m visiting my old friends the MacGregor’s by Nora Roberts! Recently I got a book by Victoria Dahl and I am looking forward to all of Robyn Carr’s new books, Leslie’s Play With Me and many others that are coming out soon.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.
At the moment I am reading three different books. A REPORTERS LIFE by Walter Cronkite, SLIDING HOME by Kate Angell and THE BACHELORS OF BEAR CREEK by Lori Foster on my Kindel, that I just love. So much for the 20 or so others books in TBR pile.
I guess I better get busy

Hope you recover soon, Julie.
Unfortunately, everything that I want to read next is at the top of the list for purchasing (I haven’t got any new books in my collection) and it requires money to buy them so I’ll probably end up rereading some more of the books that I already own. Having been off work since New Years Day with an injury has made the situation worse because I’m reading a lot and can afford something new even less.
In no particular order – the titles that I’m really keen to get my hands on are: Lucky Break; Kate Angell’s Sliding Home and Santa, Honey; Tessa Radley’s Millionaire Under The Mistletoe; and Leslie’s Play with Me.
I’ll probably end up buying the last two as ebooks from eHarlequin, but otherwise I’ll be re-reading.

Jules, I hope that you are feeling better. I have a long list of books I am chomping at the bit to get my hands on. I read Forbidden Falls and it was great. Can’t wait for Angel’s Peak to hit the stores. I am dying to read Les’s Blaze next month, as well as all the others coming out. Kristan Higgins also has a new book coming out at the end of the month, The Next Best Thing. I also can’t wait to get my hands on Joss Ware’s Beyond the Night, which came out yesterday. I am also on the lookout for The Nora’s next book, forgot title, which will be out on 26th of this month. There’s more, but I can’t think of the titles.
Peace and love,
Paula R.

Get better and don’t forget about the tea.

I’m also reading new author Kate Carslile’s Homicide in Hardcover. It is a really good read and plan on buying her next book too.

When I had that during the holidays the only way I could sleep was by taking a Tylenol with Codeine. Thankfully I still had some left- I hate the cough medicine with codeine. But they did help me sleep at night.
A saline nasal spray helped with the congestion and stuffy nose. Keeps it moist and from drying out when sneezing and blowing. I hate a raw nose. Ouch.
Hope you feel better soon. Some Vicks might help too.
There’s a new Robin Carr out? How did I miss that?
I have had a pile of library books that showed up all at once and I have been trying to get thru them. On the last one now finally- the new Kay Scarpetta from Cornwell. It’s big.

Sorry you are sick. Eat chicken soup, gargle with warm salt water, drink plenty of liquids (8 cups coffee don’t count) juice and water and you will feel better in 2 weeks. Joke..But I do hope you are on the mend real soon.
I have Sabrina Jeffries, Wed Him Before You Bed Him and others to read and think I will start with Sabrina. It is 33 in Central GA with rain on the way in but at least it is over 16 now..Brrrrrrr.
