I know it’s a month until Valentine’s Day, but it seems like all the stores are overflowing with hearts and doilies and Valentine’s goodies. So I thought I’d give away a pretty Valentine’s water globe…just a little something to give you a smile and brighten up your Valentine’s Day.

Leslie Kelly used to say she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up, but then she discovered Nancy Drew books. Being a flashlight-under-the-covers-nose-in-book reader throughout her childhood, she couldn’t think of anything else she’d rather do as an adult than continue to lose herself in fictional stories. Her real life marriage of 20 years to the man of her dreams is a constant reinforcement that happily-ever-afters really can happen…and that they’re worth writing about. Living in Maryland, Leslie spends her non-writing time laughing a lot with the above-mentioned romance hero and their three daughters. Though an author of more than thirty sexy, contemporary comedies, she has recently branched out to write dark romantic suspense under the pseudonym Leslie Parrish.

Happy Friday! I hope everyone’s staying warm and safe. We’re getting lots of snow these days – just got in from shoveling for 1/2 hr. :snowguy: Such is life in the midwest.
Looking forward to reading some of the 16(!) books I bought this week, maybe going to go see Avatar. What else is everyone up to?

Have to admit I started reading this blog because I’m a big fan of Carly Phillips. I have since added books by the rest of you to my to-read list but have yet to read any. This book looks like a scorching intro to your work… and scorching would be perfect to fight off this cold weather.

Great prize as always! Hope everyone has an awesome weekend! Just trying to stay warm right now. We didn’t end up with much snow yesterday, but what is still on the ground is now ice. Such fun to drive on this morning, and since we won’t get above freezing befor Monday or Tuesday, it will be here for a while. Think I’ll spend the weekend reading and watching the wild card playoff games.

Is that a rose in the globe? Oh, where did you find it? My mom used to have one on her coffee table — a red rose in a clear liquid-filled globe with a hideous black plastic vase (it was the 60’s, taste was so not an issue). I remember the day she broke it while dusting. I think her heart broke a little that day, too. I’ve looked for one like it for years. Yours is MUCH prettier! And it comes with a book? What could be better!?!

What a pretty globe. I won’t say “snow globe” b/c at the moment I’m not liking snow much. We got just enough here to go all slushy and turn to ice overnight. Now all those idiots that can’t drive under normal conditions are trying to drive in icy conditions. Not fun for me.

We just finished New Year’s. Why not celebrate Valentine’s Day? I’m convinced we’re in perpetual holiday mode these days. I’m not one for a holiday every day, but what about “Holiday of the Week”? Could be fun, and we wouldn’t have to stare at the same awful stuff in the stores for months (like the period from Labor Day to Halloween).
Nonetheless, Valentine’s is one of my favorites, and this is a great way to get in the mood.

love the valentines gift…btw…i got engaged on valentine’s…13 years ago…hubby put one of those heart ads they do at valentines in the local paper asking me to marry him…and had also bought a Heart shaped diamond ring to go with it. Took us another 3 years to actually get married….but that’s a whole nother story. Anyway…needless to say…we got married first day of winter and hubby admitted it was because he’d never forget the day…just like when we got engaged…seems he figured important days on the calender would help him remember….and it’s worked so far.
He’s never forgot our anniversary or when we got engaged. lol
