Carly’s Christmas Jungle Madness
Carly Icon

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Myspace Christmas Clipart

It’s that time of year … the time for most of you to open to give and receive presents – and for Jewish folks like me to find a movie that isn’t too crowded (with other Jewish folks looking for something to do on a day when everything is closed!)! LOL! Here’s another gift for one lucky winner!

CarlyCarly Phillips would like to take 100% credit for all her stories but the truth is, Carly’s strength is writing family, emotion, funky elderly people and animals. She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Because writing doesn’t keep her busy enough, Carly is also a wife, a mother of one preteen and one teenage daughter, the primary care giver of her soft coated Wheaten terrier and an expert carpool mom.

What a great prize Carly. I won’t be celebrating Christmas for a few days yet, but hope that everyone has a fantastic Christmas or holiday season.

Heh – I’m like Lyn, Carly – not celebrating Christmas until tomorrow.
Jewish… and some Asian families go out for Chinese food on Christmas, right? ;)

Anyway – Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it, Happy Holidays, and everyone have a great weekend!

Actually we’re BRINGING IN Chinese tonight! I think it’s a function of it being the only restaurants open and also the whole, Jewish families eat Chinese food on Sunday nights thing transferring to Christmas. :snoopy:

    Happy holidays to all,

Speaking of movies, has anyone else seen UP IN THE AIR w/the delicious Geo. Clooney? I did, the lst film I’ve seen in about 3 years. Understand it has Golden Globe nominattions in the best comedic film category, but I’m having difficulty understanding the category. I found the film very thought-provoking & interesting, loved the clever dialogue & it had some smart, sharp lines, but, I didn’t find it funny, more sad. I would have called it a drama. Clooney is his usual interesting self [he makes acting seem so easy] & Vera Farmiga is wonderful (Supporting Oscar, you heard it lst), but, because of the subject matter, I can’t consider it a comedy. (Have to say that the CEOs in the U.S. will not be thrilled w/this film…) It’s definitely worth seeing (loved the interaction/relationship w/Clooney & Farmiga), but, don’t expect laughs. If anone’s seen it, I’d be interested in your opinion.

    Patricia

To top off the usual family holiday drama, I ended up spending dessert in the ER with Heather, who had a very bad asthma attack- seems she has bronchitis with early stages pnumonia. By the time we got home, every one had opened their presents, especially our twin 4 year old grandsons. I was told that they all loved their stuff- but no one could wait for us to get home, or even tomorrow to do it. Gee thanks, glad all my hard work didn’t go unappreciated. (And the grandsons are jewish- it wouldn’t have mattered) :hairpull:

Hope everyone had a good day and who went to see what movie? How was itA?

    :bigxmas:

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to everyone. We’re staying with the inlaws out of state until Jan. 1. It’s been hectic though because my father in law had knee replacement surgery on Christmas Eve and is in the hospital today. My husband’s grandmother is with us for the holidays, and while she can be sweet, she is a bit of a drama queen, constantly finding fault with things and my mother-in-law doesn’t get along well with her, so it’s interesting. Always some drama, whether with my family or hubby’s.

:bigxmas: To everyone!!! I spent the entire day cooking for the family. I thought it would be …ummm….fun to have my 12,11,10,and 9 yrolds help me cook our Christmas dinner. Not so fun!!!! :fainting: They all ‘KNEW’ how to cook everything. By the end we were craking up and having a blast. I think I am going to ask Santa for a bigger kitchen though! :applause:

Now I am going to make a good cup o’ joe and relax. The kitchen is clean and the kiddos are full. For today, my biggest worries are a thing of the past! :cloud9:

Hope everyone had a great day, no matter what you celebrate. We got a little snow on Christmas Eve, but today it has done nothing but rain…..I guess the upside is I don’t have to shovel it. Great giveaway today….it would go towards the books that I didn’t get off my Wish List.

Instead of eating Chinese food and going to the movies with my fellow Hanukkah celebrators, every year my family is lucky to be invited to our friends’ house to share in their Christmas feast. And every year we talk about the time all the Jews decorated only the front side of the Christmas tree, weighed it down with beautiful ornaments, and had to sweep up all the shattered glass when it tipped over during dinner! Ah…good times…..good times. Happy New Year!
