Jungle Madness Friday: Like Pie?
Leslie Icon

I do!  I am a big-time pie person. I always make a lot of pies for Thanksgiving and thought since that wonderful holiday is right around the corner, I’d give away this very cute Thanksgiving pie basket.

And I’ll send a Leslie Kelly book from my backlist–winner’s choice.

Because of how close we are to the holiday, U.S. winners only, please!

Just comment (why not tell us all what kind of pie you like the best?) and you’re entered!

Pie basket

Leslie

LeslieLeslie Kelly used to say she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up, but then she discovered Nancy Drew books. Being a flashlight-under-the-covers-nose-in-book reader throughout her childhood, she couldn’t think of anything else she’d rather do as an adult than continue to lose herself in fictional stories. Her real life marriage of 20 years to the man of her dreams is a constant reinforcement that happily-ever-afters really can happen…and that they’re worth writing about. Living in Maryland, Leslie spends her non-writing time laughing a lot with the above-mentioned romance hero and their three daughters. Though an author of more than thirty sexy, contemporary comedies, she has recently branched out to write dark romantic suspense under the pseudonym Leslie Parrish.

I am always in charge of the pumpkin pie because I usually double (if not more) the spices a regular recipe calls for (everyone thinks I have some special pie recipe). My 10 year old daughter always cuts the leaf or pumpkin shapes for the top because she thinks it tastes better with decorations.

    Have a good weekend all!!!!!

You are kidding, right? I love just about all kinds of desserts and pie is right up there. I don’t care for lemon merinque or pumpin or mince.

Some of my favs are: rhubarb, apple, prune and apricot, peach, pecan, choc. cream, key lime (without meringue – lol)!

Growing up, it was apple pie all the way for me. However, I grew up and married a man who likes to cook (yay, me!) Now, my favorite pie has got to be his buttermilk pie. It’s quite legendary around here. Have a great weekend.

I have been doing pumpkin pies from scratch most of my life- I grew up on a pumpkin farm. In fact I have a bunch of pumpkins I need to get to this weekend. And apples. Hubby loves apple pie esp with a good piece of cheddar on the side. And Blueberry. And Cherry. And Blackberry. I grow those myself too.

Oh yeah, pie is a big fave with our family.

I like lots of pies. As for my favorite it is probably a toss up between Chocolate cream pie…served very cold or Wicks Sugar cream pie. These are from a local place…they are sold frozen at least throughout Indiana and are Awsome. great warm right out of the oven or cold as leftovers.

Even though I’m in Canada and can’t participate in the draw, I thought I’d chime in anyway.

Pumpkin is my absolute favourite, but a *good* homemade (real pumpkin) pie, with *real* whipped cream. Mincemeat pie (or tart) is a close second.

Actually, while I do like pie, I’m not a huge crust fan, so often will buy raw pumpkin and make just the filling (with about half the sugar) for myself.

Mom’s pies are another matter–she makes fabulous crust. I don’t live close to her, geographically, so it’s been years since I’ve had one of her pies. :-(

I got really balsy today and sent out another query to an agent. This time in addition to the query letter I enclosed the first chapter. Yeah, I know you’re not supposed to do that but I don’t have anything to lose. After all, the only thing they can do is say no. I’ve definitely heard that before. This will be the 24th agent I’ve queried. And today is Friday the 13th! But I had my first date with my husband on Friday the 13th and we’ve been married for 20 years.

It is from Pet milk (I think) or maybe Libby’s, but it is the old recipe not the one you see now. For some reason they changed the recipe, the old one is best!! I always make the pumpkin pie. It is my favorite breakfast the day after Thanksgiving with real whip cream on top! Yum! Yum!! :thankshappy: :thankstired: No pie icons!!! :D :fourturks: I also love lemon meringue, apple, huckleberry or blackberry, I could go on & on!

My pie story happened when I was first married. Husband had to show me how to fry an egg even though my mother cooked in a local restaurant, I’d not had an interest in learning how to cook. Both my mother and my mother-in-law were excellent cooks; so my first married holiday I decided to try baking pies as my contribution to the holiday dinner. I baked three, an apple, pumpkin, and cherry, my husband’s favorite. Somehow, the moon and stars must have been in alignment because they turned out great. My husband confided that mine were better than both our mothers but that tidbit was just between the two of us, and he reinforced why I married him.

That’s a hard question. Mmm…pie is yummy. I have to go with chocolate pecan pie. I’ve only had it once, made by my husband’s aunt, and it was SO rich, but SO good.

Wow…I love pie, too! Well…not too crazy about mince pie, but all the rest rock!

Probably my favorite is peach pie warmed with ice cream or whip cream on top. Yum!

    Thanks for the cool contest!
