It Boggles The Mind . . . And Your Eyes!
Janelle Icon

Something fun this Monday morning. I’ve always loved optical illusions and I thought I’d share a few with you all today. Check them out — they’re cool and trippy! Then tell me if these illusions boggled your mind and eyes!

Illusion Flowing Leaves

FLOWING LEAVES: The brown leaf shapes against a green background make this look as if the entire group is flowing—making waves if you focus on the picture as a whole.

Illusion Pulsing Vortex

PULSING VORTEX: If you stare at this one long enough you’ll notice a fast and pulsing multicolored vortex.

Illusions Waves

WAVES: The blue almond-shaped objects look as if they’re all passing over three separate columns.

Illusions Hypnosis

HYPNOSIS: Although this image is comprised of simple purple and green squares outlined in black, it looks like it is bulging out in the center.

Illusions Kaleidoscopes

KALEIDOSCOPE: A collection of black, blue, green and white shapes appears to be five different kaleidoscope-type figures—each swirling toward their centers.

Illusion Bullseye

BULLSEYE: If you stare at the center of the image, it looks as if the outer rings are rotating in alternating directions—an effect meant to mesmerize the viewer.

Are you curious how these optical illusions work? What your eyes perceive when looking at one of these images is actually a visual illusion; you see the image as something different than what it is because the different cells and receptors in your eyes distinguish images and colors at dissimilar speeds. The eye can only receive a limited amount of visual stimuli, but as your brain constantly processes the visual information, it gives you the illusion of continuous sight. Whether it’s an optical, physiological or cognitive illusion, the design plays a trick on your eyes (and mind). Cool, huh?

Janelle

JanelleJanelle Denison finds it hard to believe that it’s been nearly 25 years since she first started writing romance novels. At first, it was a way to pass idle time while her husband worked swing shift, but before long it became an obsession to get published. Luckily, she kept at it (it took her over 5 years to get that first book published!) and is now a Waldenbooks, Barnes & Noble, and USA Today Bestselling author! Now, after selling over 45 plus novels, she finds that her Plotmonkey pals help to keep her stories fresh and unique, and she can’t imagine writing a story without their input. Janelle lives in Oregon with her husband, Don, along with two teenage daughters that keep life interesting.

Whoa, that can make a person dizzy!
The only one I couldn’t “see” what the second one. These are more fun than those picture within a picture things; I can never see what others do.

The second picture is the one that stood out the most for me!

Trippy! I also like stuff like this, very cool, and thank you for including the explanation. I didn’t know before why we see these images the way we do, but now I’m all clued in. I feel smarter already LOL.

Very cool and definitely trippy

My niece had a baby girl-Madeleine last night. 7lbs. 8 oz. and 20 inches long.:-)
Can’t wait to see the pictures. My niece lives in Ga so I can’t just run over to the hospital from Colorado. :giggler:

Have a wonderful day. We had some light snow yesterday but the sun is shining today.

Congratulations on the new baby in the family, Aunt Cher! :inlove:

It’s a very rainy day here in Oregon today. :rain: There’s supposed to be a cold front moving in, so I’d say that Fall is definitely here for the season!

I’m another one who gets headaches from optical illusions, but I did learn this morning that I find it easier to see the illusion if I’ve forgotten to put my glasses on.
