If you’ve been around for the past couple of Fall “tv premiere” seasons, you might remember that I usually do a run-down of the new shows I’m watching, what I think, if I’ll stick with them, etc.
I’d like to do that this year…the problem is, I’m only watching ONE new show! I mean, seriously, I haven’t even tried any others! I don’t know why nothing really grabbed my attention this fall, but to be honest, Bruce and I have been going through a total Deadwood glom, watching the entire series, seasons 1-3, rather than new shows most nights of the week.
The one new show I have been watching and am interested in sticking with is Flash Forward. I was a little leery of this because the more quirky shows can either be fabulous and break out into huge success stories (Lost, Heroes…but oh, does that suck now, so maybe I shouldn’t use Heroes as an example of a success) or they can start big then just fizzle out. (Reaper, Pushing Daisies.)
Because I’m such a fan of Joseph Fiennes, and the premise sounded so cool, I gave Flash Forward a shot. I liked the pilot–didn’t love it, but liked it and saw potential. It tried a little too hard, but things settled down nicely the second week.
The show is based on the premise that everyone in the entire world passed out for 2+ minutes, at the exact same time, and had visions of what their life would be like in 6 months.

The main character (yummy Mr. Fiennes…oh, how I love SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE!) is an FBI agent and he and his partner are trying to figure out who caused the blackouts and why. Fiennes is using cluese he saw in his “flash-forward” while praying his wife’s visions–of being with another man–aren’t going to come true.
It’s a clever premise and it works really well. Don’t know if they’ll be able to sustain it beyond April 29 (the date everyone flash-forwarded to) but I suspect it’ll be a way cool May Sweeps for this show if it’s still around.
And that’s it! The ONLY new show I’ve watched! I hear a lot about Glee and keep meaning to check it out, but haven’t yet.
As for returning shows, I still watch Grey’s Anatomy and Supernatural–wouldn’t you know it, my two favorite shows are on opposite of each other!
Supernatural was starting to jump the shark a little but it’s just so darned entertaining and those boys are SO CUTE I just can’t let it go. They tempt the cougar in me.

So, what about you? Any must-see TV you can recommend? We’re on Season 3, episode 9 of Deadwood (oh, I hate to watch these last few, knowing what’s going to happen to Ellsworth and knowing they’re never going to make the promised movies to wrap this series up!) But we’re definitely going to be looking for some great new shows to check out!

Leslie Kelly used to say she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up, but then she discovered Nancy Drew books. Being a flashlight-under-the-covers-nose-in-book reader throughout her childhood, she couldn’t think of anything else she’d rather do as an adult than continue to lose herself in fictional stories. Her real life marriage of 20 years to the man of her dreams is a constant reinforcement that happily-ever-afters really can happen…and that they’re worth writing about. Living in Maryland, Leslie spends her non-writing time laughing a lot with the above-mentioned romance hero and their three daughters. Though an author of more than thirty sexy, contemporary comedies, she has recently branched out to write dark romantic suspense under the pseudonym Leslie Parrish.

I am enjoying Flash Forward too. It’s quirky so I like it.
I love Glee, the music and the characters. You should try it.
I have been dvr’ing some of the new shows, but haven’t gotten to them yet, except for a comedy or two, but don’t love them to the point that I have to sit right down and watch them. 2 1/2 Men and Big Bang are still my faves. And I love Castle.
I’m still watching Grays, Private Practice and Bones. I haven’t caught up on last seasons Lost and Heroes so I haven’t seen this seasons. Tells me I am just not that into them any more.
I am looking forward to Ugly Betty on Friday but will need to dvr that one too since we won’t be home.
With the lack of good tv I should be getting more done around the house. Yeah. Right.

I love Flash Forward too and saw that it has been picked up for a whole season.
I’m such a TV junkie, I usually have a VCR tape full of stuff to watch on the weekends. The only other new shows I’m watching are Trauma and Three Rivers (Alex O’Laughlin is yummy).
Returning shows I watch are The Amazing Race, How I met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, The biggest Loser, NCIS, Americas Next Top Model, Criminal Minds, Bones, CSI: NY, Supernatural, CSI, Top Chef, and Project Runway.
I agree that Supernatural is starting to jump the shark a little bit but I’ll continue watching it. It is still a really entertaining show plus Jensen Ackles is hot, even if he is a little too young for me.

I’m enjoying Flash Forward – although I’m annoyed they got “played” last week by the Nazi. I watch Glee – the first time I saw it I wasn’t hooked but it was cute. It definitely grows on you. My kids love it and download the music from iTunes. Now I’m enjoying it more! I watch all the old shows – House, Grey’s, Private Practice, NICS – caught the new NCIS Los Angeles – still like NCIS better. Criminal Minds – too gruesome last week but I love the show (opposite Glee though so here comes Tivo!) and many many more.

The only new show we’ve watched was Three Rivers which we watched for the first time last night on Tivo. Not sure about it yet. It feels like ER but with a transplant team. It will be interesting to see what they do with the characters. Except for Three Rivers we still watch the old shows, CSI, The Closer, Castle…Oh, my husband told me last night he had put a show called Ghost Lab on Tivo. Not sure what that’s about.
Have a great day,
Cher

I keep hearing about Glee…I should check it out on Hulu or something. I love Flash Forward, frankly, Joseph is FINE! I figure even if it’s bad, I’ll just stare at him for an hour. I also like “The Good Wife”….which I always forget to watch, but I watch it online :). Again, Chris Noth is nice eye candy, plus I love a good legal drama. My husband and I watch “Sharktank”, which I wouldn’t normally watch, but it’s kind of fun. It’s interesting to discuss the different ideas…I think my husband is a frustrated entrepreneur…he would love to invent the “next best thing” and make a gazillion.
I also watch my requesite (obviously, I can’t spell today): DWTS, Castle, L and Os; ANTM; Grey’s, PP and TAR (oh, and Project Runway….”make it work”). I think Grey’s has gotten better this season…just my opinion :) I was so bummed out by the last episode of TAR, I am still bummed
You would think that’s a lot, but I watch them (from recorded form) while I am doing laundry, etc. Haven’t watched much of the news lately because of it!

I’ve DVR’d Flash Forward but haven’t watched any of the episodes yet. I plan on doing a marathon one of these weekends. Castle is an absolute must! I have to admit, I’m probably going to buy the novel “Rick Castle” wrote and is being published. Bones and NCIS are must sees but they aren’t new. Come to think of it…There isn’t a new show on my must see list so far. Huh…
Comment
Let me know how “Rick’s” book is when you read it please. I think it is coming out in hardback, so I’ll either have to get from the library or wait for it to be released in paperback.
Comment
I will. If it’s good, I’ll happily pass it around.

Lately I have given up TV. I rather read for my quite time. Well, that was until I watched an episode of Paranormal State.
That show is wicked and scary
all in one. You can watch it on-line at blinks or I think HULU has it too. IF you like scary that stuff just might tickle your fancy.

I like Flash Forward. It makes me think about Lost, which I think is the show ABC wants to replace Lost when it goes off the air next year. The only other new show I’m watching is The Good Wife, although, I’ve also watched NCIS-LA some too. Not as wonderful as the original NCIS, but pretty good.
My must-see return shows are Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, Gossip Girl, Castle, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, and The Mentalist.

Hung is about an ex high school/ pro athlete who had a career ending injury and is forced to go home and teach high school athletics. His wife leaves him and takes their twin teenage children. To make matters worse his house catches on fire and his insurance has lapsed. To make ends meet and be able to make the needed repairs to his house so that he can live in it instead of a tent in the back yard, he turns to his one redeeming attribute… “he is hung” …So he becomes a male prostitute. It is a really good show…Honest!

I LOVE Glee! It is such a great show, the cast is reletively unknown unless you are into musicals, which I know you are. The lead character Rachel is played by Lea Michele–who starred in Spring Awakening and Les Misérables. In the show she is an unpopular high school student who is the star of the Glee club. The plot is too complex to explain but it is a must see show. I also like Community its a good new comedy for the nbc thursday line up.
Happy Tuesday!

Everyone needs to watch Castle and Glee! I love these shows and want them to stay around a long time!

I decided not to watch Flash Forward, just didn’t seem like something I would like that much. The new shows I have watched are The Good Wife, which I think is good
& Three Rivers which is okay and I will probably keep watching. Returning shows I must see Dancing With The Stars, Castle, NCIS, Grey’s, Private Practice and I am looking forward to the return of Ugly Betty. I did try Modern Family but it didn’t hold any appeal to me. I didn’t even watch all of the first show! For me Wednesday night & Saturday night are really crappy TV nights so I watch a movie or read.

Two new shows that I would recommend are Glee and Drop Dead Diva. DDD was actually a new show that first aired in the summer, and its season finale was on this past Sunday. I’m pretty sure you can watch the episodes online over at Lifetime, though. Glee is so entertaining. You should really give it a try. The songs that are featured on the show are really catchy. Here’s a link to some of the songs, if you’re interested in hearing them:

Castle isn’t a new show, but I watched it for the first time last night and thought it was really enjoyable. Nathan Fillion and his female co-star have great chemistry.

ohhh! i completely agree about castle and nathan fillion too!
also tyler hoechlin was on it last night, and he’s amazing

wowww! i find it really funny that almost everything you mentioned (excluding deadwood and pushing daisies) is something i have watched at one point or another. i am sooo addicted to supernatural (i own all seasons except the fourth, because i don’t have money), grey’s anatomy, and flash forward. although, i am beginning to think that flash forward is going to turn out a lot like lost. i’m just hoping it doesn’t. but glee is amazing. if jensen ackles and jared padalecki bring out the cougar in you, i’d think that cory monteith would too. :] also, matthew morrison isn’t too bad either. lol.

Hey Les, I have been watching Fast Forward as well. I like the premise and the premiere was good enough to draw me in for the following week. I don’t know how long they can sustain it, but it seems that every week something new is coming. I am interested in seeing how much of the future they saw will come true. I started watching trauma, but it just didn’t hold me at all. C’est la vie! Now, I am really getting into Castle, and my usual watches…Army Wives and Law & Order SVU. That’s about it.
Carly, finished LB, and I liked it alot…Mike and Amber win though. Their story really intrigues me. It was great chatting with you last night as well.
Les, I am crossing my fingers!! Have a great rest of the evening. Sorry I missed so much….day parent-teacher conferences were tonight…2 and half hours straight…I am going to bed. See you all tomorrow.
Peace and love,
Paula R.

Other than sports (Dodgers fan) I don’t watch much TV. However, THE GOOD WIFE is must-see TV for me. Juliana Margulies is absolutely terrific in this series, & I always admire good acting. Other than that, I still watch THE MENTALIST (Simon Baker, yum) & ARMY WIVES, which has made me very sympathetic for the families of the military. Season final last Sun. night, leaving many stories “up in the air”.

I like Flash Forward, Glee, Castle and The Good Wife. I don’t think Supernatural has jumped the shark, but they have gotten dark dark dark this season. Grey’s is terrific this season, too. And I love The Big Bang Theory.

That pick of the Winchester Boys looks old. Jared looks so young there! We’re SUPERNATURAL fans, too. We’ve watching GLEE and totally love it. We’ve also been watching THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and TRAUMA. These are the only new shows. All of our regular shows came back except for one, CHUCK. I really miss that dude.
