Janelle is spending the week with family that has arrived from California, so we’re switching posting days this week.
It’s been awhile since I’ve updated you on my dogs, so I’ll ignore the groans and here goes! :dogrun: :dogrun:
They’re doing well. Bailey STILL thinks the downstairs is the outdoors and will poop there unsupervised. Upstairs she is fine Hey some children are slower developmentally than others. She’s 2 and a half years old.
Today we had a sad sports day. The Red Sox were eliminated and the Patriots lost.
Hubby wasn’t happy. Yelling, cursing, clapping, LOUDLY. As a result, the dogs were NOT happy with him. IN fact they were really scared.
You can click on the picture to see it bigger. I am really bad at this blog/photo thing!
And just a reminder, I’m blogging today at: ROM CON where of course I am giving away a cool gift so stop by and say hi! Please check back if my blog’s not posted yet!
And tonight I am CHATTING at REALMS OF LOVE, 9 PM EDT! I’d love to see some friendly faces, so remember to register early so you can visit!
Hope all your pets are doing well too! Stories welcome!
Happy Monday!

She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Good Morning! what a exhausting weekend running the kids to all their sporting events wore me out. I wish that I had happy news about my dog but he is getting so old that my heart and head are doing battle on when it is the right time to put him down he is having a hard time walking and just lays around he is aroun 13 or 14. He was our first child. So every day I hope that he continues to eat some days I can’t get him to and I think it woulkd be easier if he would go outside under teh tree and take a nap and go that way unstead of me having to make the decision. On a happier note for me my daughter’s softball team won their first game
and Denver won and is still undefeated
(Sorry Carly). I will check out your blog today and try to make the chat.

Making that decision is always hard, Michele. We are playing it out with a cat, who is doing fine other than he keeps peeing all over the house. He is 16 and still goes out in the back yard, eats, drinks, but the house smells and I can’t always figure out where he is leaving me presents.
On the other hand, our latest doxie rescue is still using puppy pads at night. For the most part he isn’t using the carpet in the bedroom anymore unless he gets excited or scared. I don’t mind the puppy pads at night since it means they don’t wake me up at ungodly hours.
We are taking all 4 dogs camping for the first time this week, heading down to the Alleghany State Park. Should be interesting. Hope there aren’t any bears out and about!!
Comment
Michele I’m so sorry about your dog, Ev same about your cat. I’m sorry to bring up sadness! I can’t even imagine how you are feeling. Buddy is 11 and so I completely understand the fear!

Dog woes… Don’t I have them! LOL
My 70 pound 2 1/2 year old Black Lab Ozzy has decided that although he is house trained, he should use the living room as his new outdoor/ indoor potty location. UGH!
We don’t go into the living room much because we spend the majority of our time in our den. Now I must make a daily perusal of the front room looking for land mines as my ex-military brother puts it.
We now have baby gates up to block the living room off.
The puppies, Bruno and Rudy, who are now around 4 months old, are taking the potty training in stride. Almost all the way there…Yes!
I don’t know what to tell ya Carly about Bailey… Since I am having some difficulties with my own herd! :dogrun: :dogrun: :dogrun: :dogrun:
I hope Janelle has a great visit and I hope everyone has a great week!
Comment
Patsy, your lab and my Bailey are very similar! I can’t think of any way to change it!

My dogs are curled in their respective places in my office–one in the reading chair, one in his crate. They’ll be there all day, probably won’t move much, although if I get up, they follow me around. My husband call them my staff!
Comment
That’s funny… my husband calls our dogs my shadows!
Comment
Bailey even follows me to the bathroom!
Comment
no pets, but does a husband count and three boys?
Comment
Oh yeah Katie they count big time. But they are not allowed to use any location
but the bathroom to do their business!
I asked the vet when my Kerri was 14 and having issues.
I told him I did not want to wait until she was suffering and wanted to know
when he felt the time was right He was very helpful in advising us as to how
we could make a more informed decision.
And as for Zoey she is the best Yorkie ever. She would never go anywhere she
shouldn’t. She does chase the deer away which spoils our picture taking
opportunities. She loves to ride in Cars. She doesn’t even get upset when
I go crazy when the Patriots are playing crappy. What an awful loss.
I’m the sports fan in our house. The sox have returned to the old start off
great finish lousey mode. By the way Carly that 1/2 of your hubby is
past peak here but the ride home should be glorious. Have a good day.

Oh a cute PS. I was babysitting my granddaughter a couple of weeks ago on a
Football Sunday. The next Sunday my son was watching football and 16 mo. old
Ella started. Tom lifts and plants his foot to throw then Ella says,” Ready, set,
go.”Then yells, “Yeah!” when the pass is caught. Then “Go,Go,Go as the
catcher runs. Unfortunately it seems she cheerleads for both sides.
He called to let me know that I have created a very loud football monster.

Thanks, Jeannie, LOL. You are very lucky with Zoey! As bad as the Sox are, trying adding being a METS fan to the mix!

Michele, Ev sorry about your fur babies…My little guy is 14 this month but he’s doing very well. Hopefully he will continue to do well for a while yet.
Carly, we were cheering at our house over our Broncos beating the Patriots. I hate to rub it in–actually I don’t. Te He
Yay Broncos!! Woo Hoo!!
I’ll stop by Realms of Love tonight. My friend Sandy owns that site. :-)
Glad to hear your dogs are doing well. Wonder what’s up with the pooping on the stairs…Sounds like a job for The Dog Whisperer.
Take care all and GO BRONCOS!!

Bah humbug! But you sure outplayed us yesterday. EEEEEEE- gads we stunk.
Comment
Go Broncos but they need to take those uniforms and burn them or lock them up and throw away the key. There was a reason they didn’t keep them. They have suprised me this season I’ve been depresses ever since Elway’s retirement lol

Carly I can relate to ur husband woes on the sox and patriots. My brother put on his facebook page he is hibernating till april so wake him up then. My father didn’t want to talk sports. I have a feeling when I go back to work tomorrow my red sox sign may be takin down and some of those yankee fans (co-workers) will put their trademark up around my desk. Grr.
I will look forward to seeing u at the blogs today. On my day off I am doing tons of laundry and may squeeze a trip to the grocery store.
Hope everyone is enjoying their Columbus day!

I am too tired to enjoy Columbus Day!

Iwas rooting for the Red Sox, too.

No pets for me so no problems with them aging or not training properly. That said, I have done it all in the past. My dad & mom had a lab that was the family dog & my dad hunted so the lab was also a hunter. Anyway, she got really old with some health problems & my dad just couldn’t seem to take her to have her put to sleep. At the time I was married so we conspired with mom to go get her one day when they were both out for the day & had her taken care of. I didn’t mind as I wasn’t living at home & I hated seeing her suffer. My dad had no idea we had done this but that night Mom said he didn’t go out to feed her. Intuition?
It is hard to know when it is time to be humane with the fur babies. ((((Hugs)))) to those with aging or ailing pets.
Carly glad your two dogs are doing well. They are so cute.
By the way, my team (49′ers) sucked big time yesterday. They were wiped on the field couldn’t seem to do anything right.

As for the fuzzypups, Boone remains the patient big brother while Cooper (ever-growing–he’s 3 1/2 months 45+ lbs and about 18″ at the shoulder) uses him for a chew toy. Adidas hasn’t had to use claws yet, though she has taught Cooper the manly art of boxing. As a result, she remains the one cat who rules us all. I need to get back on twitter and post more fuzzybutt pics.

Our household consist of five humans, three who come and go through the make-believe, revolving front door that I didn’t know exited until they all turned 18! We have 3 non-humans :dogrun: :dogrun: :dogrun: , two in-doors/ one out-doors: Harry, Wally and April.
) plus he was fixed!
One night my husband was out playing with him as I came out. He started calling out random names trying to give this stray a name. Suddenly he called out the name “Harry” the dog went nuts, jumping up and down and turning in circles. He said,” Boy, is your name Harry?” He jumped up on him and licked his face. From that point on he was “Harry.” We said we had the only dog who chose his name.
We know he’s better, his fever has broke and he can keep food down. April, my Boston, is lost without her big brother. I sound like I’m talking about one of my children, but somehow animals do become just that. Around here, they aren’t animals but our babies. They share our laps, our beds and our hearts.
for our Harry cuz I not ready to let go just yet and I don’t think he is either!
It’s been a sad weekend at our house. Our “Old Man” (that’s what we call him) Harry, our 14-15ish year old pointer mix, got very sick on Saturday. Rushing him in to the Vet after-hours, all I could think was maybe this was it. Not many big dogs live to be that age and since he chose our house to come to live at 13 years ago we can only guess his age. Driving him there all I could think about was when he first came to live with us. We had 3 dogs already at our house when he showed up. The neighbors weren’t happy with us choosing to have a stray dog to stay with us, but with one look at his happy face our hearts melted. For a week, we pondered a name for him trying everything in the book to call him. This dog was amazing, he could do everything: play frisbie, catch, fetch newspapers ( the whole neighborhood’s at times which did not make us very popular
Well here it is Monday and we still wait to bring out Harry home.
So everyone please say a little prayer
Comment
Lisa, what a great story! I’m praying for Harry! Bailey is lost without Buddy too. When he goes to the vet without her she cries until he comes home. I can only imagine what you are going through. Good luck and BIG HUGS!
