I almost forgot . . .
Janelle Icon

. . . to post a blog for today! :groan: Normally I do my blogs Sunday during the day, but it was a busy day, and an even busier night! Don, the girls, and I, went to see Jason Mraz in concert! It was a fabulous concert that had us singing and dancing and cheering. :cheer: We all love his songs so it was a fun night for all of us. On the way home (after 11 PM!), it hit me that I hadn’t written a blog yet. :doh1: So, here I am, nearly midnight and making sure there’s something up for the day! Since I didn’t have any planned topic in mind, and because I’m still smiling from the concert, let’s talk about that!

What’s the best concert you’ve ever seen? Who would you love most to see in concert? The two people I haven’t seen in concert that I would love to, are Carrie Underwood and Beyonce!

Janelle

JanelleJanelle Denison finds it hard to believe that it’s been nearly 25 years since she first started writing romance novels. At first, it was a way to pass idle time while her husband worked swing shift, but before long it became an obsession to get published. Luckily, she kept at it (it took her over 5 years to get that first book published!) and is now a Waldenbooks, Barnes & Noble, and USA Today Bestselling author! Now, after selling over 45 plus novels, she finds that her Plotmonkey pals help to keep her stories fresh and unique, and she can’t imagine writing a story without their input. Janelle lives in Oregon with her husband, Don, along with two teenage daughters that keep life interesting.

Glad you had a good time! Even if I don’t know who he is!

I am the wrong person to ask about concerts. Not because I have never been but because I do one a month on average. More over the summer than the winter, but at least 12 a year. And I have for years. I have a ticket stub and t-shirt collection that dates back to 1978 or so. I mainly do rock and country.

Barry Manilow, Meat Loaf (and he is one awesome showman!), Brooks and Dunn and Toby Keith are probably up there in my never miss lineup. I have probably seen B&D 10 times. Oh, and Garth Brooks. He just might be my number one. I can’t wait for him to go on the road again.

If I had all the money I have spent on concerts in my bank, I could retire.

Everyone has to have a hobby and that’s mine!! I used to go with my daughter but now that she is in CA, I either go alone or with my step-daughter. We did three of them this year and had a great time. Took the grandsons too (all 18-20). They found out that “grandma” is cool- got them pit passes for Creed. I knows people. :cooldance:

    Hi :)
I’ve seen some great concerts when I lived in Toronto but the theater shows stick in my mind more, like Phantom of the Opera & Les Mis.
I would LOVE to see Taylor Swift in concert. And P!nk.
    :)
    Thanks for sharing,
I’m glad Jason Mraz was awesome.
    All the best,

How fun! Nickelback is always my favorite. I’ve seen them twice and both times they were awesome.

I would love to see U2. A little different venue – I’m going to see Robin Williams on Saturday. Should be interesting.

I haven’t been to a concert latley but use to go all the time some of my favs
were Garth Brooks he had a so much energy, Kenny Chesney he too puts on a great show. The first time I saw Reba McIntire She started the show with the light off and then you saw two head lights it was a taxi cab on stage and she stepped out singing “Fancy” the whole show was like that lots of costume changes and like you were watching the story with the songs. That is just to name a few.

:dancebanana: Alan Jackson was a GREAT concert! The hubby got 4 free tickets from his road manager when he came out to the golf course where Hubby works and traded them for a round of golf for himself and a few guys from the road crew. It was great… we were four rows back center stage floor seats. GREAT seats.

 Who would I like to see in concert? Hmmm…..I would just die if I could go see Sir Paul McCartney… but that aint gonna happen so I’ll settle for some more realistic ones… James Otto or Kenny Chesney would work… :whipbanana: Kenny’s HOT!!! :devilbanana: I think I may be in lust! LOL

I would love to see Keith Urban (I had tickets two years ago and got sick the day of the concert!). I would also like to see Kenny Chesney, Beyonce and Miss Carrie (sounds like I listen to country, but I really don’t!). I would have loved to have seen MJ, yes, just for the experience. Duran Duran (the originals) when I was a teenager, too.

I love James Taylor (I have seen him more times that I care to share :)). Neil Diamond is awesome. Also, the Billy Joel/Elton John is also awesome :)

The same thing happened to me with Keith Urban! I am a huge Keith Urban fan – I have a giant sized album cover poster that I hung over my bed as a joke on hubby once. I’d had tickets since the day they went on sale and woke up that morning with a horrible headache and throwing up.

We had a 2 hour drive to the venue and all throughout the day I kept getting up, trying to get in the shower and get myself together so I could make it. At 5:00 I’d managed to crawl into the bathtub, which was huge progress. LOL But it completely exhausted me and I finally surrendered at 6:00 that I wasn’t going to make it.

I did get tickets for the next year though and saw him in Richmond. He actually flew right over my head, so close the people behind me were able to touch his boot as he went over us. It didn’t make up for the missed show, but was an amazing experience. I hope you get to see him soon because he’s a fabulous performer!!

I have no clue who Jason Mraz is… Never heard of him…

The last concert I went to was to see Bruce Springsteen–Tunnel of Love Tour back in 88′ I think. It was before Mike and I got married. I would love to see Diana Krall (She’s a jazz singer married to Elvis Costello for anyone who doesn’t know) up at Red Rocks when she comes this way again. Martina McBride would be awesome I’m sure, Alan Jackson or Josh Groban…but who knows when I will ever get to another concert.

I did go see the Dalai Lama at the Pepsi Center in 2006-Now he was AMAZING!

Oh, best concert? Hmmm…I’ve seen Styx (twice…awesome both times…the original group)…Jimmy Buffett (always a good time), Neil Diamond (twice…amazing), Elton John with the Plotmonkeys (he was great, stage show was a little too Vegas for me…not enough cute boys…all naked tits, ugh), Fleetwood Mac (eh…later in their career), the Eagles (wonderful!), Don Henley (also wonderful on his own) and probably others that I don’t remember. Buffett was my first concert; Styx was the best. I’d love to see Beyonce. I bet her show is amazing.

    I wish I drank coffee…rough night + early morning = no bueno

There are so many concerts that I want to see since I’ve only been to one: THE SPICE GIRLS!!! That was an amazing concert a few years ago since I grew up loving and pretending to be those girls. I was curious why there were so many younger girls there…cause they couldn’t have experienced the true Spice Girls back in the day.

My to-be-seen concert list is quite long, just a few are: Carrie Underwood, Beyonce, Brad Paisley, Nickelback, Britney Spears, and the Black Eyed Peas.

We went to see Great Big Sea at Wolftrap earlier this month and absolutely loved them. (They’re a folk rock group out of Newfoundland, where my Mom was from, so I’ve loved watching them get more and more popular.)

Probably my fave ever was Elton John/Billy Joan “Dueling Pianos” which I saw in Orlando many years ago. What a great show! I’ve also seen Bernadette Peters, Mandy Patinkin (twice–love him!), Elton alone, Billy alone, Foreigner, Journey, Alice Cooper. I guess I have eclectic tastes, huh? :coffee:

I’m much more of a show person, have seen tons of musicals both on and off Broadway. But I do like the occasional concert and would absolutely love to see/hear Michael Buble in person!

The best concert I’ve ever been to, hands down: Lenny Kravitz. My hubby got, like, 4th or 5th row seats and he was FRICKIN’ AWESOME! It was just like listening to his CD’s, but live. Don’t remember when it was, but P!ink opened for him and she was singing songs from her Mizzundaztood album (so that should give you a hint of the time frame).

Second best was Gavin DeGraw, when he was promoting his first album. That man may be white, but he’s got the soul of a black man.

Since there was mention of Beyonce, I just wanted to add that I saw her in June (hubby is a MONGO fan) and she put on a great show. One of my favorite songs by her is “Halo” and she did a little MJ tribute by inserting his name in the lyrics. I teared up a little. She’s quite pretty in person.

Over many years I’ve seen numerous live performances! Most recent I was privleged to see Wayman Tisdale in a free concert put on by a local radio station. He was fabulous, had everyone up dancing & moving to the music. After the show I picked up a CD & stood in line to get his signature. He was so nice as he signed the CD. By the way, the CD is put out by the radio station and the proceeds go to charities for children all here locally. Though not a concert another live performance that was outstanding was Bill Cosby. I saw him a very long time ago when I was pregnant with my youngest, she is now 40!! He is a very funny man. Just remembered I saw Johnny Mathis a few years ago. When I was in my early 20′s I was a big fan of his music so it was very fun to see him in person. My brain is starting to dredge up those names! I also saw Keiko Matsui which was wonderful. Also saw Peter White & Boney James in a free concert, outstanding! I love Peter White’s music.

I would love to see Barbra Streisand, the fabulous Tina Turner and Michael Buble.

Glad you enjoyed the concert Janelle. I’ve seen him a couple of times on TV.

The best concert I ever went to was REO-Speedwagon. :cooldance: It was an outdoor concert and the first one I ever attended with my older two daughters. ;) The night was beautiful, all starry, as we sat upon the grass on our blankets. Hey Janelle, concerts are great topics too. I have been hearing alot about Jason Mraz. The first time I heard about him was from a friend in Korea…she texted me about him. I am gonna have to check him out.

I haven’t been to many concerts, but the ones I got to go to were pretty big ones, IMO…The first concert I ever went to was The Girl’s Night Out Tour with Reba McEntire, Jamie O’Neal, Sara Evans, Martina McBride and Carolyn Dawn Johnson. It was fabulous. I also went to a Tina Turner Concert one year at Radio City Music Hall and it was wonderful. Great experiences both. I hope to see more in the future. I would love to see CeCe Winans, BeBe Winans, Kenny G, Andrea Bocelli, Celine Dion, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Garth Brooks and many more in concert as well.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

I have to say the best concert I’ve been to was Billy Ray Cyrus back when I was 5. The people I would like to see are Keith Urban and Deirks Bentley.

Tough one. I have easily been to over 100 of them:

Pink Floyd because we took a bus to Canada to see them

Aerosmith: I saw them 3 times and it is one that I took my shirt off at. Don’t ask.

Pearl Jam because it was at the Gorge and it’s gorgeous

Rolling Stones: San Francisco, sitting up there with my husband holding hands, looking out at the lights of the city and one of those moments where you are aware at the time how special it is.

I haven’t been to any concerts in a very long time but I love going. I saw just about every country singer out in the 90s. I’ve seen the well-known established singers in huge arenas and the newcomers in smaller arenas and I really prefer the smaller ones. It is much easier to get close to the stage and get to touch them or take pictures or lean on the stage the entire time.

I have many favorite performances but the one at the top is Clay Walker. He really knows how to put on a show and is actually dancing on the stage and everything. And he definitely knows how to move! It was pretty cool standing right in front of him while he danced. It was so good that I went to see him again the next year. And it’s really impressive how active he is on stage considering he has MS. Another great memory is getting to meet Kenny Chesney at this teeny tiny festival before anybody knew who he was. I even have a pic of me and him.

Unfortunately, I had to give up concerts a few years ago since they started causing migraines. The people I would love to see even though I doubt it will ever happen are Carrie Underwood, Kid Rock, Rascal Flatts, Eric Church, Chris Young, Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, and the list goes on and on.
