Nothing to Blog About
Carly Icon

Ok that’s a lame title, but there you go. It’s Wednesday night, 10:00 PM, I know tomorrow is my day and I am BLANK! :writeblock: I think it’s because there’s so much going on that there’s no one thing jumping out at me to talk about. Kids are still home, they start school in one week and frankly I can’t wait. I need routine badly! I’m still recovering from the foot surgery. I can walk around and drive, but it hurts to be in any shoe, so it’s not easy. And I had a horrible cold last weekend and I’m still getting over it. I’m midway through a synopsis (for you nonwriters, that’s a long summary of my next book) and I want to finish that and get started writing the story soon. Both NEW books for next year are currently title-less so until I have titles, I don’t feel like I can tell you about what’s coming next. Sorry, but I really need titles to function! I have been doing a lot of reading, which has been nice! And we’re one month away from the release of LUCKY BREAK. I’ll have lots more to say about that in the coming days, but nothing today. :groan: I suppose I could have forced myself to come up with some big blog about hot men, but my heart’s just not in it. So instead you’ve got the truth. That’s what’s going on with me. …

What’s going on with all of you?

Carly

CarlyCarly Phillips would like to take 100% credit for all her stories but the truth is, Carly’s strength is writing family, emotion, funky elderly people and animals. She couldn’t plot her way out of a paper bag, which is why she smartly found her plotmonkey pals early on in her writing career. Thanks to their support, Carly is now a NYT Bestselling author of 23 plus novels. Because writing doesn’t keep her busy enough, Carly is also a wife, a mother of one preteen and one teenage daughter, the primary care giver of her soft coated Wheaten terrier and an expert carpool mom.

I only recently discovered this blog and have been lurking around, reading the posts. :-)

Personally, I favour the truth. As a reader, not a writer or even an aspiring one, I like having glimpses into the day to day life of authors. Helps make them (you) more real to me, if that makes sense.

What’s going on with me is simply that I’m waiting, anxiously and with excitement, for my dad’s visit in two weeks. He lives on the west coast of Canada and I’m in Ontario, and we see each other usually only once a year. So I’m jazzed about that, but not about all the cleaning I have to do before he arrives. LOL.

And in the meantime, there still is office work to be done. . . . Life in the cube farm. :-/

Well, you came off the vine a little to play with us. Thanks for de-lurking, if that is even a word. We love playing and laughing about any and everything, which you probably already know. I know how you feel about the cleaning bit, I did a whole lot of cleaning on Sunday because a friend of mine was coming to visit. It was great, after I was done. Now, I feel like I can come out from under the blanket and function a bit. Look forward to hearing and learning more about you as you talk and play with us.

      Peace and love,

Thanks Carly it seems to be healing up on a sadder note I got a phone call from my mom they had to put the family dog down they had got him the year after I graduated :dog: If you look at my notes on FB there is a heart wrenching poem I posted about the loss of a pet, My husband and I have been trying to make that decision for our dog who we have had for 11 years and his health is going down hill it is such a hard decision.

Michele, so sorry to hear about the hard decision you’re going to have to make and also about the family dog. :hugging: Putting a pet down is horrible. No two ways about it. Our little guy will be 14 in October. He is still living a comfortable life and doing well so we don’t have to address that just yet. I have had to put down a dog before and a horse as well. You never get over it. You just learn to carry it around with you. Every time I think about them it breaks my heart all over again.

          Take care,

I had plans to go see my nieces this weekend, but my middle niece came down with the flu(pretty sure it’s swine, since the whole family had it the week before) so now I’m not going. Weather in TN is crazy, so I’m in the middle of a full blown allergy war, hoping the shots I’ll get tomorrow will help. Only big plans for me is to see Wicked on Sunday afternoon, and I can’t wait.

Carly, hope your foot feels better soon. Crocs were the only shoes I could wear for about 3 months after my foot surgery last year.

:fainting: I am back in my leather lacer brace today. I have a condition called Charcot foot with sensory motor priopheral neropathy. Basically I have trouble with places in my foot having no feeling and others having waaay too much feeling. It also has a tendency to break easily and gets stress fractures easy. :hide: So some days I wear a leather lacer brace and others I am fine without it. Thank God for the MDA… they paid for it because my insurance didn’t cover it and it cost about 1,300.00. Yeah so next time you hear someone say “All the money that they raise for MDA and Jerry’s kids goes to salaries” You can say not all of it because it buys braces for people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to get them.

Other than that I am going to sit down with the offspring unit and start teaching her to use a sewing machine and sense I don’t know how to use one either we are going to watch a DVD and learn together! FUN! LOL :cheer:

Patsy, You have my sympathy. 13 years ago I developed Guillain-Barre Syndrome. I had these strange tingling/itchy feelings in my legs at night. Since I have a mentally-retarded daughter that needs me, I ignored them & soldiered ahead. Finally, I couldn’t stand alone; then, I couldn’t walk. I went to a recommended neurologist, being supported with my arms around my son’s neck. The doctor said, it didn’t look bad to him–don’t you just love doctors? In any event I told him that not standing alone or walking sort of seemed bad to me. 10 days in the hospital came up with nothing definitive. However, one of my daughter’s teachers had had GBS 2 years before, & she diagnosed it. I had 2 plasmapheresis treatments, got out of the hospital, was off work for a total of 8-l/2 weeks &, thankfully, recovered. I hope you improve as much as possible; please know someone else sympathizes.

Karen, Am hoping for quick recovery from your foot surgery & cold.

      Patricia

Karen, Thanks, I’m fine (except for the loss of some of the strength in my fingers). Also, I should have mentioned that the tingling was in my legs & feet. Most of the time, with GBS, one recovers completely (it’s autoimmune). However, a small % must use wheelchairs or walk w/crutches. One major factor in its onset is flu innoculations (not w/me; though, I had a very serious flu several mos. before).

Hey Carly, I value honesty as well, and it is amazing that when you have nothing to talk about, there is so much to say.

A lot went on this week, but all I want to share right now, is that I am doing okay. Your prayers and positive thoughts are working wonders. Thank you for that!

I am glad that your foot is healing nicely and that you got over the cold. I know how you feel, when inspiration seems to be just a little ahead of you everytime. Take a breath, close your eyes and go to that place that helps you to relax. Empty your mind, and just be. Everything will fall in place, in good time. This is the last week with the kids home, ALL DAY, maybe this week is about you and your time with them. So revel in it, and enjoy. I will swing by again later.

    Peace and love,

:grouphug: for feet, illness and a funeral.

Actually things at my home have been a little wild and crazy. The girls are in their second week of college. OMG, I hope I make it to December and my oldest daughter’s graduation.

We all went to the Best in the West Rib Cookoff last night. Yum, Yum and Yum. I have never been soooo full. It is diffently not fair, when drove by the event this morning, I was already smelling ribs. Can we just bottle up that smell? :cloud9:

On Saturday the family is heading to Las Vegas with Grandma (my mom). I must have been on something to suggest that, according to my husband. Don’t get me wrong, I love my mom but she can sure make you go crazy in 0 to 60. The best way to describe her is a 5 foot, Gladys Kravitz (Bewitched), with a little bit of Archie Bunker and a diva all rolled into one. The last time I took my mom on a trip it took to two days to leave town. My mom has diabetes and she conventally forgot to eat before we left. So as I am attending to my mom with police and paramedics at the airport, I got to wave “goodbye” to our flight. Instead of a trip on a plane, I got to the emergency room. :doh1:

So my family has kindly informed me that I will be in charge of Grandma for the weekend. Oh boy I can hardly wait. I was thinking that it might be time for my sister, that we will be visiting this weekend, to share in all of my fun.

Have a great day everyone. Only one more day to TGIF.

Your mom sounds a lot like my grandma…except my grandma doesn’t really have any medical ailments, she just pretends to for attention. It’s quite frustrating really :hairpull:

Regardless, I hope you have a great trip…and I do encourage you to rope your sister into the family fun. When I was taking care of my grandmother for the summer no one believed quite the antics she pulled and I just wished they could have spent a day in my shoes (or even and hour).

So is anyone else affected by furlough days??? (The mandatory campus closure days at schools in order to help the state budget.) I feel like I’m a part time student, because not only are there four campus wide closures this semester, but the teachers are all required to take like five personal ones. I have a teacher that’s taking them all in a row, so I won’t have her class for two weeks. Another teachers is taking two of her’s the week before fall break – so there’s another two weeks. It’s really difficult keeping up with the schedule because not all classes are off on the same day.

Technically the teachers are even forbidden to assign homework over these days or even check their email. Of course they get around it by saying that we don’t HAVE to read the assignment, but it will be on the final. I don’t know what to think about this whole arrangement.

At the same time, what student doesn’t pray for class to be canceled…now it’s a requirement…

Foot problems are running rampant through the Jungle. I finally asked my doctor what was wrong with my foot and he said it was my achilles. I have rheumatoid arthritis so I just figured it had something to do with that. It’s the craziest thing. One day it will feel kind of sore, next day it’s sore, next day it’s really sore, next day it’s gone. He just told me to stretch it more and hopefully that would take care of it. So far so good. Hope everyones feet become Happy Feet soon. Welcome to Kim, hope you hang around. :monkey:

It’s only the second week of school and I along with the two youngungs are having the “i don’t wanna go’s.” Of course, since we only had 10 (except the 6theay had to go to work w/) days for kids, 0 for me in between….I totally understand.

Hugs to everyone with feet problems and furloughs and ‘grandmas’ (and everything else).

Since my youngest daughter went off to college about 3 weeks ago I have developed insomnia. I figure I am just worrying myself about everything.

Today I worked in the yard a little bit then I gave my dog Bridgette a bath.
That is about it for the day. I will probably hop on my Hover and vaccum the house later. :dog:

Gigi, I hear you! But try to relax and know you gave her the tools to get by and do well! Easier said than done I know!

I’m in the middle of a publicity campaign for our parish’s upcoming Festival.
I’ve finished with the major portion, thank goodness! and there’s only a
month to go. We’re two months from the beginning of rehearsals for a major
celebration in the parish. (Honey and I are both in choir.) It’s time to start
prep work for Thanksgiving and Christmas, mainly menus, shopping and card
lists! Have to stop, I’m giving myself a headache!

I bet you’ll do great, Pat!
No furloughs here. I’d never even heard of one!

Carly todays comments are interesting due to your lack of subject matter! Seems it turned out to be okay.

To everyone with foot problems I hope they are better soon. :hugging: Lisa, I think you said you stepped on a piece of glass, how long since you have had a tetnus shot? Please be careful to take good care of that cut.

Cher, that is creepy. I think you can refuse any communication from that person on Facebook. You also may be able to report that person.

Ev, enjoy your trip to L.A. and the concert. Love your type of sandwich!! :D

What is happening with me? Most of the morning I’ve been listening to a jack hammer that is very loud! :hairpull: I know someone is just doing their job. It is quiet at the moment so I can think again! I had the TV on when it first started but couldn’t hear a thing!

It is getting very warm here already which means I have to have the fans going all day! After awhile they bug me! :? Tomorrow is suppose to be about 10 degrees cooler which means it will be much nicer. Yea!

Does anyone have great plans for the weekend? Whatever you do have fun and stay safe. 8) :flag:

Not much really going on with me. I’m just trying to figure out some computer programming assignments for the classes I need to take for the degree program am in. My other option is to switch degree programs until I get into the PhD program I want. *sigh*

Hmm what am I doing? Waiting 3 more weeks before I can go back to Maine. Boy oh boy I sure do miss the peace of mind I find there. Way too much stress here lately, planning a home addition/renovation. I’ll take the deer and bears anyday. :rotfl1: I do have the baby coming for the weekend and that is always fun.
Football season is heating up and that is always a good thing. To me it is anyway. My husband can live without football. What’s up with that. Last but not least my space bar is acting up. After typing I have to go back and insert the spaces. Ijusthate it whenthingslikethis happen. :*&#!:
Zoey and I feel sorry for your loss, Michelle. My son got Zoey for me when my last Yorkie passed away. Losing a pet and a loyal companion is difficult. I did find that getting Zoey helped me a great deal..
