Not Just for Writers
Julie Icon

Hi, all! Julie here. I have some exciting news, so I’m taking Carly’s day to tell you about some upcoming doings here in the jungle.

From looking at the stats to our blog, we know that most of you visit us during the week. This makes sense. I visit the blog more during the week. Weekends are for, well, in my house, usually for family. But since I’ve been a member of RWA for over 20 years, Saturdays also trigger in my mind, “meetings.” The second Saturday of the month is reserved for my TARA meeting. The fourth Saturday goes to STAR, when I can get across the state. Until two years ago, TARA met on the first Saturday. So Saturday=learning about writing is ingrained.

That’s why over a year ago, I approached the other monkeys about running a Writer’s-in-Residence type series for our Saturday blog posts. The topics are about the craft and business of writing and we’ve had some spectacular guests. What some of our readers might not know, though, is that this blog day is not just for aspiring or published writers. Because I try to always schedule authors who have a book out–and more times than not, the guest author gives away a book.

Think of it as a second Jungle Madness Friday per week!

I make no guarantees about giveaways, but since we do love talking books on Plotmonkeys, here is the spectacular line-up we have in store for the next two months:

August 1 – Karen Anders

August 8 – Sandra Hill

August 15 – Tessa Dare

August 22 – Karen Templeton

August 29 – Debra Webb

September 5 – Julia Amante

September 12 – Kate Angell

September 19 – Louisa White

September 26 – Hank Phillipi Ryan

October 3 – Roxanne St. Claire

So…this is an open invitation to make Plotmonkeys a regular weekend stop! We try hard to have new content here every single day…don’t miss out. The best part is, nobody comments early on Saturday. Everyone is sleeping in…okay, maybe that’s just the best part to me.

Julie Leto

JulieBy all reports, Julie Leto was a sweet child once, somewhat shy, preferring to play quietly in her room making up stories. However, being raised with three brothers in a loud, primarily Italian household did have its influences and Julie discovered her inner tough girl. That’s probably why most of her heroines kick serious butt. Writing sassy heroines has worked out, as she’s sold over forty books to four publishers featuring strong, confident women. Julie lives in Florida with her daughter, a spoiled dachshund, a haughty lynx-point Siamese and a wide range of relatives all within driving distance.

You’re right, I don’t visit much on the weekends, trying to stay off the computer and enjoy the nice weather, but I think there’s definitely reason to stop by. What a great lineup! I’m especially looking forward to Tessa Dare. Her book Goddess of the Hunt is getting great reviews, and I should have my copy any day now.

You guys are the best – thanx for bringing so much amazing writers our way :bananaangel:

Wow!!!! That’s a good line up of authors. I still stop by on the weekends but I do know it tends to happen at a different time of day to the rest of the week, simply because in my case, I spend my weekends working (the down-side of studying during the week). Personally, I’m looking forward to Kate Angell’s blog – mainly because I’m looking forward to her next book – not that I can remember the title right now.

Hey Jules, I absolutely love the lineup…I have books from most of these authors too…I have been guilty of not checking in on the weekends more now than ever, but I do when I get the chance…coming here is like a drug, I have to have it or my day doesn’t go okay….lol…I can’t wait to hear what these authors have to say…I was lucky enough to meet a couple of them at the RWA author signing too…gotta go…new headmaster wants to meet with the academic team today, and I haven’t done my homework… :blushing: :blushing: I will swing by later okay…

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

Great lineup of authors! I usually stop by at some point on Saturday, just don’t always comment. Looks like the next several Saturdays will be must stop by days.

Terrific line up of authors! I basically stop by every day although on the weekends I may be a bit late swinging through the Jungle. I always look forward to checking out the guest bloggers on Saturday.

    Have a wonderful day,

Cher, whose RA is flaring up big time right now…

I admit I do not stop by on weekends, because I don’t have internet at home. I usually drop in when I have a moment at work. I just got a blackberry with internet and have tried stopping by on weekends, it just doesn’t always work.

Your lineup does sound so exciting, so I will try harder to get here.

    :)

Looks like a good line up Julie. Several of them would be new to me authors. I’ve “discovered” several new authors from Saturday guests so I will be looking forward to seeing what they say. On Saturday’s I always check in but don’t always leave a comment. Thanks for broadening our horizons. :applause:

I try to visit and comment nearly everyday, however weekends are difficult for me because my internet availability is sporadic. But I can’t wait to hear from the upcoming guest-bloggers. See ya’ll Saturday! =)

Oh…and I’m super excited for Kate Angell’s new release…my calendar has been marked for the past year it seems like.

Wow, Julie! That’s a great line-up! While the weekends are sometimes hard for me too, I try to at least pop in to read the post. I’ve really enjoyed meeting the authors you’ve had here – and I’ve learned a lot! Thanks for the time and effort it takes to make Saturday’s both informative and fun.

OMG!!!!!! I’m super excited for August 29th!!! Debra Webb is AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I”m 100% totally in love with her Colby Agency series and must own like ALLL of them. Might be missing a few can’t remember. She is the one author I look forward too from Harlequin Intrigues books every month. Other then the plot monkeys she’s my hero author. Oh and I can’t leave out Janet Evanovich. Met her twice.

:yourock Julie! What an amazing line-up of authors! You can bet I will be here on the weekends.

I work on Saturdays so most of the time I don’t even get on the computer at all. I definitely will take the time to check out your blog on Saturdays probably late at night. Better late than never right!
