I Have Been Converted
Julie Icon

I am a PC girl. This is actually somewhat surprising because my first two computers were Apples. My first was a Apple 2 E and me down from my brother. My second was not actually my computer, but my job as a typesetter allowed me to work on a Macintosh. It was surprising then I think that my first computer was a pc. I’ve been loyal since, not really understanding Carly’s obsession with all things Apple.

And then, on Friday, I bought an iPhone.

In fact, this post was entirely written from my phone. The hotel room we’re in has no wireless, so Internet is only available with a wire, which I’ve never actually used. As it is, this post is late because the Wordpress app is new and I failed to hit the post button! Still, this is very cool. I used the Kindle App on the plane to read instead of having to dig my Kindle out of my bag!

Obviously I am nont one to jump on new technology, but this whole smartphone thing is very exciting. Have you found any new technology lately that has you excited or frustrated?

Julie Leto

JulieBy all reports, Julie Leto was a sweet child once, somewhat shy, preferring to play quietly in her room making up stories. However, being raised with three brothers in a loud, primarily Italian household did have its influences and Julie discovered her inner tough girl. That’s probably why most of her heroines kick serious butt. Writing sassy heroines has worked out, as she’s sold nearly thirty books to three publishers featuring strong, confident women. Julie lives in Florida with her husband, daughter, spoiled dachshund, enormous guinea pig and a wide range of relatives all within driving distance.

My oldest son is like Carly – if it’s an Apple product he has it. Which, of course, means he has an iPhone. He had it with him while we were on vacation and it was the coolest thing ever. We mostly used it for the built in GPS but he could find out anything we wanted to know in a matter of seconds.

But the big downfall is he can’t use it at my house. If he wants to talk to any of his friends he has to go outside and walk up a hill to try to get service. I don’t live that far out in the boonies. Honestly, I’m only about 4 miles out of the city limits. So until AT&T increases their coverage I’m just going to have to miss out on the cool iPhone.

I am, however, getting myself an iPod Touch for my birthday at the end of August. And I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. It’s taking everything I’ve got to not go get it now.

Hope everyone has arrived at conference safely and is having a great time!

Alannah, Your going to love the I touch. My DH bought me one for Christmas 2 years ago. I love it. I have books, movie, apps, pictures everything on it. The only thing i’m sad about is that my I touch is a first generation so the new update with all the cool features is not compatible. I’ve read that if i down load the new update i’ll mess up the wifi. :drama:

:flag: LOL…I couldn’t find a white flag to wave in surrender so I’ll waive this one. Tricia, your comment is not helping me wait until August!

I’ve asked my son to research and see if he can find out if there is a new generation coming out anytime soon. Right after I got my last iPod (I’ve had 2 so far) is when they came with the iPod Touch. I want to make sure I’m not going to get one and then a few weeks later they come out with a newer version. Again.

    Julie,
I’m also want an I phone. I’m waiting with my fingers crossed for next Christmas, Apple is suppose to open a contract with Verizon for the I phone. :snoopy:  I love Technology gagets.

We just got a Digital Camcorder/Digital camera it’s sooo cute. I laid it next to my I Touch and it’s the same size. The also water proof so when we at the beach we can take it into the Gulf of Mexico and film the kids playing. Oh and its bright yellow! too cute.

I’ll miss out on the iphone until Apple opens it up to other carriers. I’m with Verizon and can’t switch to AT&T because the phones don’t work in my hometown and my cell phone is my only phone. I’m hoping to get an ipod touch by the end of the year, but I might have to wait a little longer. I love playing with my friend’s iphone, but had to settle for the Blackberry Storm from Verizon. It’s a great phone, but not as easy to use as the iphone. Congrats on the new phone.

I would love Verizon to open up to the Iphone. :praying: Hopefully soon. I love my Macbook though. Wouldn’t trade it in the world. I have an apple ipod but want to upgrade it since this one is the older generation. I haven’t been able to convert to a kindle yet. However I am sure its a lot nice to carry than books.

Hopefully I get to see everyone at the signing tonite.

I love gidgets and gadgets but alas I have no iPhone. I did just get a wireless mouse that I love! I’ve also been using my husband’s old laptop. I love using a lap top and I didn’t think I would so I resisted for a long time. What was I thinking??

Hope everyone is having a wonderful time at National. :-)

Don’t tell my husband, but I have been thinking of spoiling myself for my birthday and getting an Iphone or Blackberry. It just has to be easy to use because I am pretty computer stupid.

I love my iPhone. It’s keeping me sane here in DC! I can tweet from it and check email and all sorts of things….though I did take a break to come back to the room for wired access.

My budget hasn’t allowed me any new techie toys! Once my car is paid for I want to look at digital cameras & HD TV’s. I am really behind due to lack of income!! However, what I have works and that is the important part. Since I rarely use my cell phone I’m not to interested in the Iphone or a Blackberry or any of the other newer phone gadgets! :D Julie, enjoy yours.

I hope all the Plotmonkeys are having a good time.

As I no longer sell verizon I could have switched.

This message comes from my car via my black berry storm

I can do everything u can do and I get service everywhere I

go. In the back No. Woods of Maine that is very important.

Hope all lucky enough to be in DC are having a blast.

I’m so far behind the trends & technologies that I only just got my first
cell phone in December. In fact, I probably still wouldn’t have one if Honey
hadn’t given it to me for Christmas!

I too am waiting for Verizon to get the iPhone. AT&T service here isn’t always that good. We have 4 phones on Verizon, so it isn’t that easy to just switch. I do like their coverage better.

I love my iTouch, I think it is 2nd generation, but don’t remember. I have a problem getting the internet to work and really need to go to the Apple geeks to figure out what I have been doing wrong.

I would upgrade to a newer one, but if I can get the iphone…

I love my Sony ereader. I have tried reading from the iTouch, but the screen is just too small for me. I spend more time moving the pages than I do anyting else, although it is great to have in an emergency.
