Happy Memorial Day!
Janelle Icon

Today, Memorial Day, is a time to salute all those who have given their lives in defense of this nation. Without their sacrifices we would not be free to enjoy so many aspects of our country. A big THANK YOU to all those who serve to protect the U.S.A! :flag:

memorialday

Today is also a day to gather with family and/or friends for a BBQ, and for most of us, to enjoy an extra day off! Unfortunately, my husband has to work, but I plan to do some writing, a bit of reading, and watch a few DVD’s with my girls — Taken and Mall Cop!

So, how are you spending the extra day to yourself?

Janelle

JanelleJanelle Denison finds it hard to believe that it’s been nearly 25 years since she first started writing romance novels. At first, it was a way to pass idle time while her husband worked swing shift, but before long it became an obsession to get published. Luckily, she kept at it (it took her over 5 years to get that first book published!) and is now a Waldenbooks, Barnes & Noble, and USA Today Bestselling author! Now, after selling over 45 plus novels, she finds that her Plotmonkey pals help to keep her stories fresh and unique, and she can’t imagine writing a story without their input. Janelle lives in Oregon with her husband, Don, along with two teenage daughters that keep life interesting.

    Happy Memorial Day everyone….

I salute my battle buddies, my friends, and all veterans oout there
I salute all those who have passed on,
    paving the way to freedom
I salute all those who have yet to be found
    I salute you
the soldier, wearing good ole D-Olive green
the Marine, who is always faithful, Semper Fi
the Airman, patroling battle zones, and free airspace
and the Seabee, patrolling the high seas and below
    I salute you
    those who are left behind,
    mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters,

I am proud of all the sacrifices you make…

    I salute Freedom

That just came to me…it needs a little work, but that’s how I am feeling right now…

Unlike most people in America, I have to work…finals week starts today with Literature…the Air Force usually flies over, and there is usually a parade…I hope the students don’e get too distracted by it all…

Have a wonderful Memorial Day everybody…I will try to check in later…

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

    Happy Memorial Day!

Unfortunately my hubby has to work as well. He works at a golf course and today is one of their busy days.

My youngest daughter and I are going to my aunts house to eat. I need to get in the kitchen and get that second loaf of sourdough bread in to bake. I am bringing two loves and my mother baked one last night. I should have baked the second one last night but I was wrapped up in writing and that is all I did yesterday well except for finishing my book I was reading. (The Wilde Side) BTW  !

I hope to read a little but to be honest I am feeling my laptop calling my name. It beckons me to sit and write some more while the scenes play out in my head! LOL

I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day and remember those who have served our country! To my little brother Keith who was in the army (Now at home and enjoying civilian life) my heart filled thanks for your sacrifice! :madlyinlove:

After going to the local VA cemetery, we are going to pick up some plants. I’ve not had much time to work in my flower beds this year. Spent yesterday weeding one bed and will spend today weeding and planting flowers. I have too many beds, but they look so nice when done. My husband has surgery tomorrow morning, so we are trying to get a bunch of projects done before he has to take it easy.

    Great poem, Paula!!

My hubby is fortunate enough to have the day off. His regular day off this week just happened to be today so we came to the river last night and spent the night with his family and celebrated his sister’s birthday. We’ll hang out here most of the day and hopefully not do much of anything. :praying: It always seems like a major project presents itself when we’re all down here together.

Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Memorial Day. And thanks to all those who have served and are currently serving in the military!!

 To everyone serving or having served…I thank you!!!!

We’re having a bbq (just us), but I am cooking (always a big deal). My house cleaner is coming, which really isn’t a big deal but makes me feel good. Otherwise, nothing much.

Enjoy “Mall Cop”. It’s pretty funny (yes, I enjoyed it…nothing too deep or anything). My oldest still loves the Hello Kitty band-aid scene.

We spent yesterday with one of the kids and some of the grandkids having a nice quiet BBQ and talking family. The currently graduating grandson is going ROTC in college this fall, and he made hubby’s day. Once he graduates, his grandfather/my hubby can swear him into the Army, so now they both have something to look forward to.

today we are just kicking back. I am heading to the bookstore, since Border’s was nice enough to send me 3 40% off coupons. I am going to use them. Gotta find my list!

    Have a safe weekend everyone!

Over here in the UK we are celebrating our second “Bank Holiday” Monday where we have the day off from work – (It’s for Whitsun actually, but not many people realise that!) We don’t have a Memorial Day here in the UK but there have been calls for one for many years and I for one think we should. We do have Remeberance Day in November where we hold a 2 minute silence on the “11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month” to commemorate our fallen. Not everyone knows this of course (especially the younger generation) which is why I think a dedicated day such as your Memorial Day would make it more prevalent in the minds of everyone (hopefully). Take care. Caroline x

I’ve been watching some of the services honoring those heroes who have fallen
and those currently serving our country. We cannot pay homage enough to the
day-to-day hometown heroes who are there when we need them! Be sure to
    thank them. God bless America!
